I felt exactly the same and was hugely disappointed with it at first. I was starting to hope for a ‘return to form’ as well after all the things I’d heard and was let down hugely when listening to it for the first time. However, I did listen to it several more times and started to like it, and now I think it’s actually pretty good, although it’s good ‘new Metallica’. It will never be the same as in the eighties (except maybe for the song I mentioned earlier).
Oh, and for people who are not sure whether they will like the new album or not (so I’m not talking to the ones who have already made up their mind :-)), you shouldn’t judge St. Anger (the song) only on the performance on TOTP, that was truly awful, and doesn’t do the song justice.
Oh, and let’s keep this thread about St. Anger. I hate Metallica too for a lot of things, but this thread is about the music on the new album, not about our peeves with the band.

Re: St. Anger any good? in Other Bands & Artists
Uh-oh, let’s hope Hooch doesn’t see this thread ;-)
If you like the title track, there’s a good chance you’ll like the album as well, although St. Anger is one of the better songs on it, IMHO. I’ve had it for a while now, and now that I’ve listened to it quite a lot I must say it’s pretty good, definitely better than Load and Reload, but most of all different than their previous stuff. It’s very ‘raw’.
Oh, and I think The Unnnamed Feeling is one of their best songs ever (bold statement, I know).
I do still think the drums sound awful, and each time I hear them I feel Lars has been fucked over by the other guys in the same way they fucked over Jason on …And Justice For All.

Re: The Best band in Other Bands & Artists
I must have seen FLC twice on a good day then, because they sounded excellent and put on a great show with a balanced set, both times I’ve seen them. They seem to enjoy themselves so much on stage, they’re one of those bands that always give me a smile on my face.

Yeah, I heard about this too. Michael said that the only reason they ‘let’ Sean go on the road with another band is because it’s Maiden :-)

Re: Megadeth or Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
Now if you could just spell it correctly :p
Don’t agree with you though, ever since my last post I’ve started to appreciate Megadeth even more. ‘Real kings of metal’? Come on, just listen to Peace Sells… and Rust In Peace. Metallica never came close.

Re: NIRVANA overrated?! in Other Bands & Artists
Good points, Bud. You were a bit out of line with your comment, but it’s a good thing you are big enough to admit it.
No reason to be calling you names though, so I’d appreciate it if everyone could disagree with others without name calling, please. Thanks.

Re: LMS: “Desperately Seeking Satan” in Other Bands & Artists
Hi Jimmy, welcome to the message boards!
I moved your message to the Other Bands & Artists section of the boards as I think it fits in there better, but don’t worry, you didn’t upset me ;-)
As for your question, I did have a look around several sites I know which sell rare/deleted music, but I’m sorry to say none of them had the record you’re looking for. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Re: some new bands in Other Bands & Artists
Well, all messages sent to the aforementioned e-mail address will not be answered before April 1st. After that date it’s up to Therapy? when they will answer them. All messages are saved though, so you don’t need to re-send anything.

Re: reccomendations in Other Bands & Artists
Is that the Doug Wimbish who used to be a member of Living Colour? I love Living Colour, and an important part of my appreciation for them is based on the bass (lines/sound). Is Ultra his current band, or did he play on just that one song? I’ve never heard of Ultra before..

Re: I.m off! in Other Bands & Artists
I’ve seen FLC live once so far, and they blew me away! I didn’t expect I would like it as much as I did then, but it definitely made me not think twice about buying tickets for the upcoming gig..

Re: I.m off! in Other Bands & Artists
I’m a bit jealous at you Ronald! It was all sold when we tried to get tickets for QOTSA.. However, I have a few other gigs coming up which I’m looking forward to:
Nickelback, November 21st
Fun Lovin’ Criminals, November 30th
Foo Fighters, December 9th (might see you there, Michael!)

Re: the foo’s are coming in Other Bands & Artists
They’re also coming to Amsterdam on the 9th of December, and I have tickets, woohoo! They have been one of my favorite bands for years now, and I love their new album.

Re: Feeder… in Other Bands & Artists
I know the original bass player for Pennywise commited suicide a few years back, but I don’t think their drummer did as well. Of course bad news about Feeder’s drummer, although I don’t really know a lot of their stuff, actually.

Re: Megadeth or Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
Overall, I’d say Megadeth.
During the eighties I’d say Metallica, and during the nineties I liked Megadeth more (Rust in Peace!!!). Risk was a mistake though, but with ‘The World Needs a Hero’ they’re heading in the right direction.

Re: Where is our next female rock hero??? in Other Bands & Artists
She’s not really a ‘female rock icon’, but the girl from Guano Apes can rock pretty hard, especially live.

Hey Rit, good luck with your band, I hope it works out for you. But please, WE KNOW YOU’VE BEEN ON STAGE WITH THE BAND! I think you can stop mentioning that in your messages. It’s not that big of a deal, you know… Cheers.

Re: DEGRASSI - THE BAND - SUCK ASS in Other Bands & Artists
Mike, I wasn’t commenting on the fact that you were plugging your band on this message board. My beef was that you were doing it in almost every section of the board. For these kinds of messages (not related to T?) this section of the board was created. I’d appreciate if you’d use the right sections for your messages.
Good luck with your band. If you start making money, what’s my share? Cheers.

Re: DEGRASSI - THE BAND - SUCK ASS in Other Bands & Artists
Mike - Before you start mouthing off to some people here, get your facts straight. You also posted messages in other sections besides the non-therapy related one, which are not here for that purpose. And don’t give me that freedom of speech crap. Sure, I support freedom of speech in every way, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use the board as it was meant to be, being divided into very clear topics.

Re: DEGRASSI - THE BAND - SUCK ASS in Other Bands & Artists
I agree with Hellbelly here. It seems like you always react to posts with a feeling that people are against you. I just thought you’re initial post was weird to say the least, and I reacted to that, NOT because it was you. I still disagree with your statement that a band’s name and lyrics are related to eachother. That really doens’t make sense. Therapy and a questionmark a vision. Puhlease. Sure, a band name can make you curious about their music, but it doesn’t relate to their lyrics by definition at all. Also not ‘more often than not’, like you said. Before you accuse me of not reading again.
The remark that I should start reading your posts is stupid and cheap. I do read your posts, otherwise I couldn’t and wouldn’t react to them. Don’t act like we’re all too stupid to read. That pisses me off.
Oh, and ‘…change the name. you can always improve on the music later.’ LOL. That makes sense.

Re: DEGRASSI - THE BAND - SUCK ASS in Other Bands & Artists
Sjeez, relax dude.
Your first statement in your original post says exactly that you can tell by a band’s name that their lyrics are going to suck. This doesn’t make sense AT ALL.
I don’t think you said that a band SHOULD HAVE a name of at least two words, but you DID say that their lyrics can’t be good if the name is only one word. Read your post yourself man.
The lyrics of the three bands I mentioned do not suck. So, I proved you wrong. I thought you were good in discussing stuff with valid arguments. This post of yours was just stupid, so I had to react. Listen te Hellbelly. He’s right you know…
