Re: sg owners unite! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I prefer that explanation better to the one were I come out looking like a lousy guitarist, Dennis, so yes, that must be it.

However, I just found out I do currently use 9’s, silly me. I must have been confused because of the fact that i haven’t played in ages! I use either .009-.042 or .010-.046 size strings.

Re: sg owners unite! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Are you sure about that, Squall? As far as I know they have both always used 10’s.

I use 10’s or 11’s myself, as I tended to break the 9 gauge string quite quickly when I tried them - might have been my playing style though :-)

Re: rock band in manchester area in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Hi Dave, your thread hasn’t been deleted, but it has been moved to the Other Bands & Artists category, as your post is not Therapy? related and the Musicians (Tabs, Lyrics & Equipment) category is.

Check it out here (including two replies):

Please confirm that you’ve read this, so this duplicate thread can be removed. Apologies for the confusion :-)

Re: need some lyrics… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Welcome to the boards, LoserCop! :-)

You can find the lyrics of two of those albums on this site, for High Anxiety and Nurse.

The official lyrics for SP-YF, Babyteeth and Pleasure Death will be here soon, hopefully. In the mean time, check out http://www.suicidepact.com for the un-official ones. (Go to ‘the songs’ > ‘albums’)

Re: What advice do you have for someone in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

If it’s easy to change the strings on a guitar depends on the way it’s built. On some set-ups, like when there’s a whammy bar, it can be a bit more difficult to change them properly, but in general it’s quite easy to do. I’d just try it out, and if it doesn’t work out you can always take it to a shop later on. As long as you’re a bit careful it’s quite hard to break something on your guitar while changing a string (except maybe the strings themselves).

I’ve always had a guitar tuner, as I can hear it when my guitars are out of tune, but can’t get them back into tune properly without a tuner. As a sidenote, I don’t believe most musicians do this without a tuner. I’d recommend a BOSS tuner.

Hopefully this helped a bit. As a bit of general advise, just have fun! Don’t feel pressured by friends or anyone else to take lessons, play ‘this’ song or ‘that’ chord, write your own songs, etc. Just do what you enjoy most. I’ve been playing on and off for a long time and have always enjoyed jamming along to my favourite songs or playing covers with some friends most. I’ve hardly had any urge to write my own songs (the attempts I did make sucked quite a bit), and being/becoming a good musician is not defined by how well you can write your own songs/riffs.

And, don’t give up too soon, you should really try for a while, even though it can be frustrating, before you find out if it’s for you or not, like philzilla said.

Good luck!

Is it because my post count is under 200?

I’m pretty sure that’s not the reason! Everyone is welcome here, newbie or not :D I think it’s just a matter of not many people having what you’re looking for, and your post going down in the list as time went by..

Re: Cellist wanted? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Well, I live in Amsterdam, but I don’t play acoustic that much. I do play with some loud-ass distortion though, but that’s probably not a real good combination with a normal cello..
