Title: Another Update

I completely forgot about this one:

At the top of each forum page I added the link ‘Show Updated Topics’. Clicking this link will update the page showing just the topics which have been updated since the last time you clicked either the ‘Reset This Forum’ or ‘Reset All Forums’ link.

After clicking this link, it will change into ‘Show All Topics’ which you can use to switch back to the other topic view.

This feature will both make the tracking of new messages clearer, and more importantly, it will make the board faster.

Title: Message Board Updates

Two things have been updated:

1.
- Old situation on old message board (without the passwords):
After you read a message and you came back to the main topics page, a message was immediately marked read, as well as all other new messges.

- Old siutation on new message board:
New messages were marked read by clicking on the ‘Mark Forum Read’ link right above the purple table header on a forum page, or on ‘Mark All Forums Read’ on the main page. Even messages posted by someone AFTER you entered the message board (the ‘current session’) were marked read, without you even knowing they were there.

- New (updated) situation:
The link on the main page ‘Reset All Forums’ and the one on the forum pages (‘Reset This Forum’) now markes all posts read up until the time you entered the board for your current session. If someone posts a message while your browsing the board, it will still be marked new after you click a reset link. The difference between the two is obvious. The one on the main page resets all forums, the one on a specific forum page resets only the current forum.

2.
The issue some people had with all posts being marked as new, has either to do with not clicking on the reset links, which have been added in the new board (see explanation above), or has to do with the fact that cookies are disabled in your browser. If it is caused by the second thing, you will now get an error message on the main page, saying that cookies are disabled in your browser. Click on the ‘Read more’ link, following the error message, for an explanation about cookies, and a walk-through on how to solve the problem for the three most popular browsers.

The ‘add reply’ bug has been removed, as far as I can see. Please try to post a reply to this message to see if it works for you.

The reply bug should be gone. I’ll work on the bug regarding all messages being shown as new. Hope this helps. I’m sorry for the inconvinience. Pretty fast problem solving though, huh? :-)

The ‘add reply bug’ should be gone, now. I’ll look into the problem with all message being marked as new now.

Nevermind, I already figured out the problem… I’ll work on the bug in a minute. It should be solved in an hour or so…

What browser are you using? Which version, and which platform?

I’m not sure, I’ll check my error log tonight to see if I can find anything strange, and I’ll do some tests with the board. I’ll get back to you asap. Anyone else having this problem (besides johnnyboy and Sabotage) ?

Were you using some kind of strange characters in your post? I’ve tried all sorts of things with single/double quotes and all kinds of other characters but I wasn’t able to reproduce any syntax error messages. Could you send me the exact text of the error message you get when replying to a message? Cheers.

Hey Gibson,

Just click on ‘My Profile’ at the top of the page, log in, and then add your custom signature to your profile. After you save the changes, you will have a signature at the bottom of your new posts.

Oh, and I’m working on the torch in ASP. Coming soon. :-)
