Yikes, I go away to work on projects and finals for school for a few weeks and I come back to find a weirdo expounding homophobia on this board!
I live in a very conservative Republican town in SoCal, USA, so I have to deal with these sort of thinly veiled anti-gay statements all the time. “I’m ok with gay people, just as long as they don’t come near me.” That’s bullshit, bub. And you can bundle it up in any kind of wrapping paper you want, but it’s still intolerance.

A lot of street teams are bullshit. I’ve been a member of the Ministry street team for three years and I’ve received exactly three e-mails and nothing else during that time.

I’ve actually been listening to them since the first EP. :p Their last album, Up Off The Floor, went unreleased because their label fell apart. Since then, they’ve been doing side projects. There hasn’t been an official breakup, just a very long hiatus.
The MP3’s of Up Off The Floor (which is a really good album) were available on the band’s website, but the site’s been offline all week. I’ll post about it again when the site’s back up.
Speaking of bands from high school, does anyone else miss Machines Of Loving Grace?

The Radiohead idea is a great one. I think Street Spirit would sound marvellous as interpreted by Therapy?
Failure’s Enjoy The Silence is fantastic. You know who else does good Depeche Mode covers? God Lives Underwater. They’ve done Fly On The Windscreen and Stripped.

It works, but it makes the album a bit longer than it needs to be. By the time I get to Tramline through 60 Watt Bulb, I’m already a little frazzled.
Suing God is one of those songs that’s really too good to be a b-side. So, in that sense, I’m glad I have the Japanese import.

Excellent idea. Conan would likely put them on the show. And it would be great for T? because playing Conan carries more cool points than any of the other late night American talk shows.

If promoted correctly, absolutely. It’s not like they can’t write songs with memorable hooks or anything. They just need the right marketing blitz from a record label that’s interested in doing more than putting the record out and letting it sit there.
And Airbag was right about QOTSA fans. Therapy? is a band that’s perfect for them. As a matter of fact, if I were marketing T?, I’d put them on a U.S. opening gig with QOTSA and see how they’d fly.

Oh, absolutely. And it makes me bitter because you guys get a lot of good stuff on DVD long before we do. You guys rule in the Music and TV show DVD’s department.

It’s not really fair to blame Canadians for Avril Lavigne. Blame Hollywood record execs who scouted her and developed her into a pop star. And blame the people who bought into it! The only way we’re going to get rid of manufactured pop stars is to stop supporting them!
God, I feel like an activist…

Exactly. You hit the nail right on the head. The region coding can be overcome pretty easily, but the PAL vs. NTSC is a TV issue and not one easily overcome. But you are right. Most PC’s can play PAL discs with no problems. That’s how I play my Pulp Hits DVD.

As a big Bowie fan, I’d love to see them cover the Thin White Duke. But not anything you’d normally think of a band like Therapy? covering, like Ziggy Stardust or Rebel Rebel. I’d love to see them to an all-out rock cover of Ashes To Ashes!

That looks like a pretty good station. It’s nice to see a station with some variety. Clear Channel Communications owns a ton of the radio stations in America, so most of what we get is very categorized and not at all risky.

As an American, I pretty much consider the two as one album since Caucasian Psychosis is the way we got them here. It’s quite good to listen to it as a proper “debut” album. I mean, imagine my shock after hearning Nurse first and then getting Hats Off To The Insane and Troublegum later. Therapy? are rock???? I didn’t know any better… :p

I just don’t think they have anything else to run. In addition to running the same shows over and over again, most of them are available here on DVD. I just wish they’d show a bigger variety of things so I could know if I liked some of these other shows.
For example, is Yes Minister any good? It’s out on DVD now, but its BBC America presentation was so short that I never got a chance to watch it!

Re: Intro from a long-time lurker in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Spaced? I don’t recall it ever airing here, or Velvet Soup for that matter. You know, it sounds to me like BBC America is really dropping the ball. I’ve had the channel for three years now and they tend to play the same shows over and over (AbFab, EastEnders, So Graham Norton, etc), with occasional one to two month runs for stuff like So What Now (which I liked, despite it getting bad reviews here).
According to the website, there will be new episodes of Manchild, Murder in Mind, The League of Gentlemen, Homefront in the Garden, Ground Force, What Not to Wear and Changing Rooms this summer (the last three being shows that air CONSTANTLY). The only thing that’s premiering this summer, according to the website, is Tipping The Velvet. From all the shows you guys have thrown around, it sounds like there’s a lot more they could be showing. You’d understand if you got the channel. Last night, they showed the same episode of AbFab four times, the same episode of Coupling three times, and episode one of Tipping The Velvet four times. Some variety would be nice!

Re: Do Therapy? dislike “Semi-Detached”? in General Therapy? Topics
Infernal Love is a weird one for me. It came out while I was going through a messy high-school breakup, and it actually helped quite a bit with the healing process (as sick as that sounds). I tried listening to it the other night, and I was almost embarassed. It was like trying to listen in on my own past and it just felt weird. Nothing against the album itself, it just struck a chord I wasn’t ready to deal with.
S-D was the first T? album that came out that I didn’t really care for on the first spin. As time has gone on, I’ve come to appreciate it more. Heaven’s Gate and Lonely Cryin’ Only have become two of my all-time faves. I think Shameless might wind up the same way. I wasn’t really fond of it the first time I heard it (especially coming after Suicide Pact - You First), but it’s grown on me a bit since then…

I heard a while ago that they were planning to remake Coupling. Over here it just got dubbed the UK version of Friends so I don’t know how it’ll fare. maybe they’re doing it cause Friends is finishing.
No, we don’t get The Good Life yet. It’s probably coming down the pipeline, though. We do get The Office, but I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet (it’s on when I’m working and I haven’t overcome my laziness long enough to tape it!).
I’ve heard the whole “Coupling is the UK version of Friends” thing before, but I have to disagree. Friends isn’t half as funny or half as dirty. Friends is a little too clean and happy and whitebread for my tastes.
