The Unwinding Hours - The Unwinding Hours
It’s former Aereogramme members sounding like Aereogramme, i.e. absolutely awesome.

I’ve seen the gutter twins a couple of times. Their acoustic tour was nowhere near as good as the full band tour, and the album is superb.
I was speaking to a guy last night that books bands for Oran Mor in Glasgow, and Soulsavers are touring in August. Don’t know if tour dates have been announced yet, but anything that Mark Lanegan is involved with is usually quite good, so think i’ll be checking them out too.
Soulsavers will play three shows in the UK in august:
Manchester Ruby Lounge (August 24)
Glasgow Oran Mor (25)
London Garage (27)
I preferred the Gutter Twins’ acoustic tour to the full band shows but you’re absolutely right: Mark Lanegan is always ace.

Re: Future Of The Left (PEOPLE!!!) in Other Bands & Artists
Yep, they’re great. But you’d expect nothing less to come from the remains of Mclusky.

Re: Make a muxtape in Other Bands & Artists
Muxtape is still there but now it’s a platform for band to present their music while spotify is…urrm…a kind of platform to present music.
As far as I understand spotify it’s an online music library you can freely access as music is only streamed and not for download.
So nobody needs muxtape as there are already music platforms like last.fm or even myspace.

Now that you have mentioned the FB word then i will certainly be buying it :) to be honest didn’t know he was doing anything with her.
Well, they’re married so he’s supposed to be doing her, isn’t he? :->
Back on topic, the Grand Duchy album is ok, I’d call it an average FB release.
Better albums to listen to:
Ben Lee - The Rebirth Of Venus
Titus Andronicus - The Airing Of Grievances
Trail Of Dead - The Century Of Self
New Rhodes - Everybody Loves A Scene

Re: New U2 in Other Bands & Artists
The whole album is boring, their worst in this century.

Very old-fashioned album.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Parts & Labor - Receivers & Escapers Two: Grind Pop (sounds like Guided By Voices playing Hüsker Dü stuff, absolutely brilliant)
Plus/Minus - Xs On Your Eyes (if you like The Postal Service, check them out)
The Gutter Twins - various bootlegs from their current acoustic tour

Re: “post-hardcore” in Other Bands & Artists
There are so many bands fitting into that genre:
Sot Baker, Shorebirds, The Don Ramos Players, Banner Pilot, Bridge & Tunnel, Able Baker Fox, LaGrecia, The Tim Version, Off With Their Heads, In The Red, The Sainte Catherines, Fucked Up.
I personally prefer more punked up music in the veins of Leatherface:
Milloy, The Great St. Louis

Summer’s Kiss wrote:
Sub Pop veterans Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan will return to Europe beginning January 15th 2009 for sixteen special intimate performances. Dulli and Lanegan along with guitarist Dave Rosser will perform a ‘Stripped Down In The Gutter’ set. By sheer virtue of the intimacy of the show, it will be unique, as neither Dulli nor Lanegan have toured in this capacity before.
“Since our instrumentation for this tour is going to be radically different, the shows will include many songs neither of us have performed in quite sometime or ever,” Dulli commented.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling (it’s ok)
Portugal The Man - Censored Colors (in my opinion their best album so far)
Glasvegas - s/t (really good)
Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night (boring)
Metallica - Death Magnetic (their best album for five years :-D )
Alt-Ctrl-Sleep - s/t (dreamy indie pop, excellent)
The Gutter Twins - Adorata (pure magic)
Bloc Party - Intimacy (it’s good, better than A Weekend In The City)
The Verve - Forth (crap)
Hellsongs - Hymns In The Key Of 666 (that’s how metal songs should sound like)
But my favourites at the moment are:
Off With Their Heads - From the Bottom
The Gaslight Anthem - The ‘59 Sound
Shot Baker - Take Control
Banner Pilot - Resignation Day

Re: Sub Pop in Other Bands & Artists
It’s natural to focus on Nirvana, the label’s biggest success.
It was nice that for the SP20 festival some old bands reunited. I have a recording of the Green Show (Mark Arm and Steve Turner from Mudhones, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam) and they really kicked ass.
