Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig (brilliant)
The Presidents Of The United States Of America - These Are The Good Times People (entertaining as always)
The Breeders - Mountain Battles (boring, unfortunately)
The Gaslight Anthem - Sink And Swim & Senpr And The Queen EP (still my fave band at the moment)
The Gutter Twins - Live á La Maroquinerie (they sound live better than on cd)

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

You extract the .rar file with programs like WinZip or WinRar, you find a good freeware program called 7-Zip here.

I’ve heard the new album and I love it.

You find the Paris show from last Tuesday here:

(The bass player Scott Ford has an amazing messageboard where he encourages everyone to post links to bootlegs, so no illegal sharing here)

Happy birthday, Sam!

And many more years without your name becoming reality. ;-)

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig
The new album is amazing, never heard Mr. Cave so straight rocking in his career.

@Kill_Hill:
You can listen to two songs from the Red Album on myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/yourbaroness
The album is excellent, very heavy and dark, like Mastodon in slow motion.

Re: Oasis vs. Radiohead in Other Bands & Artists

Both are not really my cup of tea but I’ll go for Radiohead though you can’t really compare them anyway.
Oasis are much more of a pop band that’s why I’d prefer Radiohead as they’re much more diverse even to the extent that I can’t stand them in their Kid A / Amnesiac phase.

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

So I listened to Saturnalia twice so far and I have to admit that it can’t live up to the enormous expectations I had.
It’s a bit too dark and slow for me. Maybe they shouldn’t have streamed Idle hands as the first song from it as that’s such a wonderful rockin Screaming Trees-like song.
Anyway, I’ll be going to see them in Hamburg and/or Berlin in April.

marja, enjoy them on Saturday and I’m expecting a detailed report here. ;-)

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

You can find pictures of the Bochum show here (including a little audience video from Nowhere) and there (including a small review by me)

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

Yep, it was a contest, with the audience voting by their noise which band was best.

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

According to http://www.rockliga.de/default.aspx all three bands were equal on points after the five shows, so it had to be drawn who reaches the final in Berlin on May 17th.
And the winner is…T?

Re: digipacks & jewel cases in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade

I guess he means a gramophone, an old-fashioned record player. Remember the days when music was released on black discs made of vinyl and not as mp3 ringtones? ;-)

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

They’ve been doing this rock league stuff in Germany before so it’s nothing new over here. Jack Daniels have also been sponsoring tours and I don’t know manyother drinks (except beer, of course) so connected with rock’n’roll.
A Perrier metal festival wouldn’t be so straight forward, would it?

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

Now really back on topic. ;-)

Tonight we saw the real Therapy? again, tight rocking and getting the crowd going. The evil priest was in good shape so they blew away the other bands and won the audience by storm. Teethgrinder was played this time, Diane and Sprung were left out of the set and replaced by Screamager and - tadaaa- Sister. Yeah THEY FUCKIN’ PLAYED SISTER. I can’t even remember when I heard it the last time.

Greetings to angela, Robby and Roxy, hope you had a safe drive home. See you on the next tour.

Back off topic:
Jägermeister Red Bull is a real killer, the Red Bull taste “hiding” the alcohol lets you lose control faster than anything else.

Happy birthday, Beastie Boy. ;-)

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

It definitely was. You could see that his complete attention was focused on remaining on stage in an upright position as he had no timing whatsoever and didn’t hit the right chords.
But I guess the evil priest will be in full action tonight again.

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

Respect for apologizing here, Michael. One bad show in nearly seventeen years (as far as I am concerned) is something Oasis can only dream of. ;-)

So bring on tomorrow to kick our asses as usual.

Re: Jägermeister Rock Liga in Therapy? Live

Yep, Michael’s appearance was a shame, indeed, Andy didn’t seem to be too sober either but at least he was able to get through the set.
The setlist itself was very different from the usual greatest hits stugg the guys usually play on such occasions.
It had Punishment Kiss as opener, Rust and Isolation being placed in the middle. Also played were Sprung, Rock You Monkeys, Innocent X, Potato Junkie, Diane and Screamager to finish it.
Teethgrinder was on the list (Roxy got it and post the exact set) but was ommitted, instead Neil and Andy jammed around a bit including a fierce short version of New Day Rising by Hüsker Dü.

So let’s see how the lads present themselves in Bochum tomorrow.

Oh, the other bands:
Portugal The Man were first, starting at 8pm sharp (an unusual early time for shows at the Stollwerck) and were really good. Their music sounds like a blend of Mars Volta and Modest Mouse and live they’re more rocking than on record.
Dúné were next, seven very young people from Denmark who seemed to have to have enjoyed their set and were really frantic on stage. They’re sort of dance-orientated indiepop mixing bands like Wombats, Editors or Eskobar.
I must admit they were the best band of the evening (though Robby and roxy will both say both other bands were shite ;-) )

And see you in Bochum, angela.

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists

That was a kind way of blaming like “Why didn’t you tell me earlier of such a great band?” ;-)

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists

Jaya The Cat - More Late Night Transmissions With (mrs h is to blame for that)
Baugaus - Go Away White (I like it ‘coz it’s more Bowie than ever before)
Scott Reynolds And The Steaming Beast - Adventure Boy

Maybe someone from Holland or Belgium can give you a lift, e.g. Robby.
