Re: My opinion… in General Therapy? Topics

“True Therapy?” is Mr. Andy Cairns babbling on about hippos and elephants at the end of Suicide Pact ;)

WHOOPSY-DAISY! :D

Metallica in Dublin - Therapy? on the bill? in Therapy? Live

Title: Metallica in Dublin - Therapy? on the bill?

Are any of the Irish members here going down south to see Metallica in Dublin during August?

It struck me that it would be rather nice to see Therapy? on that bill, since the promoters having been saying it’s going to be a “one day festival” with more acts to be announced.

So, after reading Andy’s recent rant about T? not getting invited to do any festivals and whatnot this Summer, I was wondering who we’d e-mail/write to/phone to plead for Therapy? to be included on this bill?

Re: My opinion… in General Therapy? Topics

Semi-Detached is the only record that’s really disappointed me from Therapy?
I got very nearly expelled from school for mitching off on the day it was released, to go and buy a copy in Belfast then go home and spend the day listening to it. I hated it for a long time, but over the last five or so years, it’s definitely grown on me.

I remember hearing Church of Noise for the first time, and being convinced it was some kind of terrible joke… then the album came out, and it in itself was even worse on the whole.

I met Michael McKeegan at an Ash gig in Belfast the year of Semi-Detached… I talked to him for a bit, and said as nicely as I could that I didn’t think much of Semi-Detached, and he himself sort of gave me a funny knowing look and said “Yeah, I know… not our best”, or something along those lines. That was only a few months after it came out.

But like I say, once it’s had time to work it’s way into your head, it’s a pretty good LP.

How can anyone put Turn in their worst? It’s one of Therapys best ever songs!!!!

*shrugs* I dunno… after however many years of hearing it, it’s not aged as well as most Therapy? tracks in my opinion. For instance, I can imagine tracks like Innocent X still exciting me, ten years from now, but I usually skip Turn these days. It’s wore out it’s welcome, or something.

Plus, it never really felt “at home” on Troublegum, if you ask me.

Re: My opinion… in General Therapy? Topics

If yer ask me (and no-one did, since I’m new and isolated from the group dynamic ;)), SP-YF is one of Therapy?’s finest hours. It’s a corker of an album.

When it comes to Shameless and High Anxiety…
Well, I have to agree with the folks in this thread. HA seems to be just more of the same kind of stuf from the Shameless album. I like both albums a lot… but, and I may be alone on this, I actually think Shameless is a better LP all round, when compared to HA.

I think people are still on the high from having a new T? LP to bang their heads to. Once they’ve calmed down and really listen to it, and see how it sqaures up to the band’s illustrious discography, they’ll see that it’s very good yes, but not as good as the last few records.

Don’t get me wrong… I love High Anxiety… I just don’t rate it above anything from the Ark21 years. For all those who don’t rate Shameless, I advise several more listens. It’s a great wee record, in my humble opinion.

some asshole punched me in the nads too as i crowdsurfed to screamager - i think they were just jealous because mine are so big!!!

I was about 2 people out from the very front centre, for the majority of the gig. About a gazillion surfers fell from above, which is cool, y’know. You help a dude out when they’re surfing the crowd and would expect no less from the crowd myself if I were the one surfing it.

But one guy on friday night, out of the tons that went over near me, was kicking and punching people all around him as he went over… real dickhead, he was. He landed right on top of me, and busted my mouth open (hey, it’s not a good gig if you can’t taste your own blood, right?). I took a swing at that guy’s nuts, but missed ‘em. If I’d connected, I would should no remorse.

Re: your personal worst in General Therapy? Topics

High Anxiety _(2003)
1. Last Blast
2. Limbo

Shameless _(2001)
1. Alrite
2. I Am The Money

So Much For The Ten Year Plan _(2000)
No probs with this record except that Innocent X and/or Dancin’ With Manson weren’t on it.

Suicide Pact-You First _(1999)
1. Wall Of Mouths
2. God Kicks

Semi-Detached _(1998)
1. Tramline
2. Born To Soon

Infernal Love _(1995)
1. Me vs. You (love the song, but overproduced on the album)
2. 30 Seconds

Troublegum _(1994)
1. Femtex
2. Turn

Nurse _(1992)
1. Deep Sleep
2. Neck Freak

Pleasure Death _(1992)
1. D.L.C.
2. Fantasy Bag

Babyteeth _(1991)
1. Animal Bones
2. Loser Cop

Wildcard
1. Tatty Seaside Town

That’s actually a really tricky thing to do…
For me, the vast majority of these choices have been been based on “Well, which tracks to a love least?” as opposed to “Which do I hate most?”
Which can only be a good thing, methinks :)

Re: win signed therapy? prints! in General Therapy? Topics

Extremely cool! :D
Well done that girl!

Seen your photos online a few times before, trawling through all the local stuff and was always amazed that you weren’t being paid huge sums of money!

Title: Long-time lurker, first-time poster…

After years of lurking about these parts, I had to register so I could chip in about what a shit-hot gig last night was.

Been a T? fan since I was 13, when I heard Nurse.
Last night was the 3rd time I’d seen ‘em, and I don’t know if it was the best I’ve seen them, but I know I had one of the best nights I’ve had in a loooong time.

Woke up this morning covered in cuts and bruises, and my grubby old trainers ripped to shreds by the feet of a thousand maniacs. Fanfuckingtastic.

Anybody else love the way they led into Potato Junkie (I THINK it was Junkie… I had a few to drink), with the intro to Master of Puppets? :D
