Re: ? as a brand in General Therapy? Topics
I think the Wildhearts are flogging t-shirts with old designs on them at the moment, sounds pretty good to me… Always fancied that green long-sleeved T?shirt with the Japanese fanclub cartoony picture thing on it. Although it has Fyfe on it so that’s probably not likely to happen!

Re: new DVD? in General Therapy? Topics
Sounds alright to me, plenty vidoes I haven’t even seen. Then they can get to work on the DVD set with concert footage from EACH stage in the bands career, documentary, and tv appearances. For christmas. Please.

Re: Your first Therapy? Gig in General Therapy? Topics
My first one was the infamous Aberdeen Lemon Tree gig on the suicide pact tour. What a weird night, the gig started great then it all went wrong, equipment breaking down, Andy trying to have a fight with an abusive guy in the crowd… some great moments though, seeing Andy with his long-haired scruffy look, Black Eye, Purple Sky, Six Mile Water, opening with Wall Of Mouths… Left the gig with a strange feeling though, I’d been waiting to see them for 6/7 years or so… thankfully have seen them plenty since!

Re: T? finally in Kerrang!’s Where to start with… in General Therapy? Topics
Yeah, the photo made me smirk broadly but then I thought ‘hmm, this might really put people off’. Oh well, any publicity is good, there will be people who read it and have picked up Troublegum off the back of it, and some of them are BOUND to dig deeper into he back catalogue. Just glad T? were featured.

Re: New Therapy? Album - Instrumental ? in General Therapy? Topics
The danger is that since Neil Cooper came on board, the band have been working their way back to getting some high ratings and (reasonably) decent coverage: half page album review in Kerrang!, free track on Rocksound CD, etc and a general feeling (I think) that the rock press and punters are starting to realise that T? are a truly great and unique band who are going to keep going plowing their own furrow on their terms whatever reception it might get, putting on great shows and building a reputation as an honest, hardworking, PROPER ROCK INSTITUTION!!! (like they deserve to be and for all of us already are).
Releasing a weird fucked up album now might be dangerous for them in trying to build that following. So should they keep trying to build their popularity, or just do whatever the fuck they want? Sorry for the long posts, but I want OPINIONS, WOMbles!

Re: New Therapy? Album - Instrumental ? in General Therapy? Topics
YOu can see what he means in that interview though when andy says he’s bored of words. Look at the lyrics on One Cure, compared to the other albums. Not that they’re bad, just very sparse. The rate T? are releasing albums now, an Instrumental would give Andy time to get some thoughts and some really good lyrics together for next time. I liked the early stuff like on Nurse where alot of the lyrics are there for the way they SOUND (as weel as their meaning), like the chorus on GONE or even Teethgrinder. Basically I just want T? to challenge me again like some of their other songs/albums have, I always love the experimental stuff like Meat Abstract, Tramline, lots of Nurse, lots of Infernal Love, even stuff like the piano at the start of Safe, the beats at the start of Born Too Soon, lots of Suicide Pact, Unrequited, even Outro sounds great and totally different, real atmosphere.
I can see why some folks don’t like the Instrumental idea, I just want them to do a really fucked up experimental album that might well divide the fanbase for a while but will be a real curio in the back catalogue. Or are we too old to want them to mess with our heads, maybe some fans just want them to stick to a straight ‘therapy?-style ROCK’ formula now, just with different producers. Whatever they do I’m sure I’ll love it. I just want them to mess with my head again like they did with Nurse, with Infernal Love, with Suicide Pact, with Shameless (which I now love but didn’t think much of at the time… but the fact I didnt like it that much still messed with my head!).

Re: New Therapy? Album - Instrumental ? in General Therapy? Topics
Title: Instrumental Album… (merged)
Just been listening to the interview at the top of the Press section, when Andy talks about recording an instrumental album, I think this might have been discussed before but I think it’s a great idea. I think they need to do a really experimental album next, that’d be wicked. We can get back to more ‘traditional’ Therapy? (if there is such a thing) later, but if they could find the time (soon!) to record and put out something really weird next that would be great… I love therapy? for their tangents! As for basing it around Samuel Beckett, that’s a very T? type of theme, and also I just bought a book of his plays so it ties in very nicely! Just as soon as you’ve got the live DVD/CD done lads!

Re: Exclusive Therapy? Webgig in General Therapy? Topics
That was really tough. The list they have there is an ideal gig setlist really, why can’t they just play the whole thing?
Dancin’ with manson
Loser cop (no chance!)
Perversonality.
Gotta be the early ones for me, hope Mr Cooper doesn’t get upset. The rest of the set for me would have to include Moment of Clarity, Walk through darkness, safe, fantasy bag, evil elvis, suing god, dead. And all the other ones on the list too please. Meat Abstract! Awwwww I hope the final list is great!

Re: The lost songs… !? in General Therapy? Topics
It’s not that long since they played Punishment Kiss, Meat Abstract, Skyward and Dancing with Manson live, and even Loser Cop and Animal Bones and Neck Freak got played not so long ago.
Sadly I haven’t seen most of these live, but seeing them do Punishment Kiss, Manson, and Innocent X, I’ve never gone so nuts at a gig. If they’d just play the whole of Babyteeth for me that would make my life, but it’s not going to happen, obviously.
Everyone has a different fave T? era, so they’re never going to please all the people all the time. If they just keep mixing it up and recognising that they have a huge back catalogue that folks want to hear, that’s all we can ask.
Maybe they should have another fan vote like they did a few years back, that got stuff like A Moment of Clarity and Straight Life back in the set for a while.

Good to see some folk are travelling up for this one. I’ve heard the venue capacity is 1000 or something, wonder what the tunrout will be like?

Re: Wildhearts in Other Bands & Artists
Hmm, does this live album smell of contractual obligation? I wasn’t there sadly but it sounded like the day was a bit of a let down when it should have been amazing: Ginger with injured finger not being able to play his best, quite a short set without any huge surprises. It would have been great if theyd been able to do a big sprawling set with loads of interesting tunes for the no doubt hardcore crowd they had. Not sure whether to pick this up or not, and I am a bit of a wildhearts devotee. Probably worth it to hear the version of Geordie though.

Re: Therapy? playing Inverness, Scotland there is a god in Therapy? Live
So, what’s the inverness crowd like then? And does the venue have an annoying early closing time or can the band just play for hours and hours and hours aahhhhhhhhhh
NECK FREAK FOR INVERNESS PLEASE!

Must buy this today. When was the last time amusic mag gave away a free T? track? Last I can remember was some mag which had a live Tightrope Walker on it, and that was a long time ago…

Re: Shameless - whats wrong with it?!? in General Therapy? Topics
I was pretty dissapointed when Shameless came out. It was enjoyable, but it was just so far away from my fave albums (babyteeth, nurse) and I kind of worried about where the band was going to go in the future. Saw them on the Shameless tour and it was a good gig but the whole set bar three tracks (opal mantra, denim demon, he’s not that kind of girl) consisted of Shameless stuff and obligatory Troublegum songs. They even started the encore with the hardly crowd-stirring Body Bag Girl. They had the new logo at this point too and it seemed like they were really leaving behing the T? that I new and adored.
Now that a few years have passed and the band have been going from strength to strength again, it’s nice to have a real oddity like Shameless in the back catalogue. I had it on the other day and literally sang along to every tune, it’s like therapy’s party album! It’s great fun. Lyrically I actually think it’s pretty strong, its got alot of words compared to, say, the new album, and I think Andy put alot of effort in on that front. So I say let T? do what they like, never apologise and all that, cos I’m bound to end up loving it in the end. Actually I’ve gone off High Anxiety a bit at the moment, but I’m sure I’ll play it in a while and love it as much as I enjoyed Shameless last time.

Not on the abdn-music forums,no. Though I did hear recently that some of the folks there spent 2 pages discussing whether the ‘slash’ in Fiction/Action should be forward or backward… With any luck I’ll be at the gig, bit up in the air at the moment though. Don’t let any of the above post put you off, it’ll be a great night! I’m a bit of a drummer too, one of the things that make therapy? great!

Curfews at T? gigs in Therapy? Live
Title: Curfews at T? gigs
Whenever I see the band they’re always playing a club and are on some kind of time limit, I’m still gutted by the Glasgow Garage show when Skyward was lined up for the encore on the setlist but they only had time to play Isolation and Knives… Inevitably the more unusual or fan-pleasing songs get dropped for the more well known (ie troublegum) ones. So I’m kinda hoping for either an early show or only one support band, or both, so they can play for a good long while… Not sure why I’m posting this, I just long to see them in a venue when they can play for as long as they want. They’ve plenty of slow ones to pace the set out a bit and get a breather for themselves/the crowd (moment of clarity, long distance, 6 mile water etc). Anyway, here’s to a decent length of set for this tour!

Re: Worst t? album in General Therapy? Topics
I’ve never been the biggest fan of Shameless but I had it on yesterday and don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed it as much, I was singing along to every track (including the infamous body bag girl, although the whoops at the end are a bit rubbish)! Reckon it’s therapy?s party album. Also the lyrics are pretty wordy for mr cairns and I really enjoy that, there is alot of personality in those lyrics in comparison with some other albums. I voted for high anxiety, though it’s got some great tracks on it I think Last Blast is one of their weakest album tracks.

Hi Gimmie, any idea why I can’t access your website? It just comes up saying “forbidden: you don’t have permission to visit this site” or some such. Might just be the feeble computer I’m using. Sounds like you’ve got some cracking stuff on offer though! Might email you with some requests if that’s alright?

Help! Where to download rare T? stuff? in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Title: Help! Where to download rare T? stuff?
Well, RHC was my first downloading experience, and it may not have been the smoothest but I’m hungry for more!!! There are so many T? songs I’ve wanted for years that now seem tantalisingly within my grasp… So, I need your help here folks, as a novice downloady person, where can I plug the gaps and get stuff like
The early Demos,
Stuff that wasn’t released on CD like Skyward (new recording), 60 Watt Bulb, the Vinyl Gimme Bsides, HAMFC etc (I mean I’ve got some of these on tape/vinyl but want to put them on CD!),
Random stuff like Invisible Sun, Vicar in a Tutu, Denim Demon, Big Time…
Hard-to-get officially released tracks like the Bad Mother Bsides, the Fan club CD’s and the live stuff from the 2nd Stories CD…
This makes me sound like I’ve been slacking, but I’ve bought every official release I’ve been able to find since getting into them with Nurse/Troublegum… Sorry to be such a technophobe but I’ve been trying to get some of these tracks for like a decade… Really need to be able to download it onto the computer and burn it on CD!!!!!
Thanks for reading, kind people!

Re: Rain Hits Concrete already available? in General Therapy? Topics
I remember getting a bus for 45 minutes to Perth and back purely to get singles like Diane, Church of Noise, Lonely Cryin Only when they came out and it was still less hassle than this sounds… Firstly like carlofthevplates and some others I’ve never downloaded ANYTHING before and don’t know what I’m doing, and secondly its all going horribly wrong… I bet if the band are reading this thread they’re getting a bit worried. Quite sweet though how half of us know exactly what we’re doing and the less technical of us (ie me) are like… “so, how does it work? I’m scared…”

Re: What Happened to Fyfe? in General Therapy? Topics
Fyfe is a subject that just won’t go away. I still remember finding out he had left, I was very upset… Wouldn’t it have been cool if he’d become a reclusive WEIRD solo artist like Aphex Twin or something… I just really wish he was still making music… maybe he is?

Re: Dropping of NANE songs in General Therapy? Topics
Looking at the setlist from the Barfly the other night it seems like theyve finally dropped the attitude of feeling they have to play a set mainly composed of new ones and Troublegum songs, so as long as they can find a good balance I’m sure they can keep a few Nane songs on standby and play the ones they feel like… This Ship Is Sinking was great live.
