Re: Bands That Change Frontmen in Other Bands & Artists

Well it hasn’t exactly worked now has it… I saw them with Bush on a sold out tour, the reunion tour didn’t sell out and I saw them at the same venue i saw them with Bush at and it was only 3/4 full.
The last Anthrax album did really well and boosted their profile loads they should have carried on the momentum.
I don’t know what it’s like overseas, but here in the U.S. Anthrax had pretty much been reduced to an irrelevant has-been type band to most people which is unfortunate since I, like most of you, agree that they were much better with Bush than they ever were with Belladonna. But their sales after Sound of White Noise were consistently stagnant and their shows weren’t drawing hardly anything in terms of attendence. But the reunion show here with Belladonna was packed.
Unfortunately, more people would rather them be a cheesy nostalgia act than a band actually capable of moving forward and still doing something new.
As for everything else mentioned here, that sucks that Dave Wyndorf left Monster Magnet. I hadn’t heard about that. They’re done then.
Skid Row would be exactly the same even if Sebastian Bach came back. They’re an outdated nostalgia act. They’re fun for what they are, but even the most popular member of the band coming back wouldn’t do much to rejuvinate their popularity in terms of actual relevance.
I’m one of the only people who actually seems to like the Blaze Bayley era Iron Maiden stuff. It’s definitely not as good as Bruce, but it’s way better than the shit they did with Paul DiAnno. I don’t care what anybody says, those first two albums are so fucking overrated.
All things considered, it depends on the band and the singer as to whether or not replacing them will actually make a significant difference. Killswitch Engage took a HUGE gamble when they changed singers right on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream. That’s probably the most crucial point in a band’s career, and they changed singers. That sounds like suicide, but they made it work. I like Howard a lot better than Jesse. And their record sales certainly haven’t suffered.
More often than not, it’s hard to get away with changing your vocalist, but there are a solid amount of bands that can get away with it.

Re: What 4 songs should T? have on their myspace? in General Therapy? Topics
Obviously they should probably put a couple of new songs up since that’s what most bands do to promote whatever album they’re currently promoting. So I guess I’d say probably two from One Cure Fits All (probably any combination of “Sprung,” “Deluded Son,” and “Rain Hits Concrete”) and then a couple of older songs. Maybe “Die Laughing” or “Stop It! You’re Killing Me” and either something more aggressive like “Rise Up” or something vintage like “Teethgrinder.”

Re: Therapy songs that sound smilliar to other bands in General Therapy? Topics
Are you guys joking about the Metallica similarities? I’m just curious because I don’t hear anything even remotely close.
Aside from the Sum 41 riff in “Still Waiting” and its similarity to the “Screamager” riff, the most obvious one to me has always been the chorus riff from Tool’s “Part of Me” which is strikingly similar to the chorus riff from “Disgracelands.”

Not really new but alien nonetheless in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Title: Not really new but alien nonetheless
I signed up here in 2003 but only made a few posts. So I thought I should probably re-introduce myself.
I’m from the U.S. Longtime Therapy? fan since the Hats Off to the Insane era.
Sorry I’ve been posting so much. It’s 10 a.m. here, and I still haven’t been to bed. I’m bored.
