Man I didn’t say the premise was beyond belief and therefore should never have even been aprroached and/or could just be dissmissed. I never debated the possibility of a monster turning up and making a big mess of New York. I also never stated it was a review. It was just a comment on the end of a film which dragged to my mind - time being a subjective experience and all that ;). I’m actually shocked to hear that is only just over an hour as it felt like alot more while I was sat there thinking “Oh just die for fuck sake!”. I said it was passable, nothing more than that. If then I post something which takes the piss and is for amusement as much as anything else whats the problem? If you miss the point of any of those its not really my problem. I mean, just because someone doesn’t like a film as much as you or share your exact view doesn’t mean they’ve missed any specific point does it?

I suppose it’d be pretty original if it was an Public Information Film informing us of how a high proportion of New York’s twenty-something are impervious to most things expect tactical nuclear strikes :D Chances are, small helicopter, several hundred foot if not more fall, nose first into the Earth is likely to kill most folk and not be selective about it. Nope, I meant the end and without spoiling it too much for anyone who hasn’t seen it, I recall it going something like this;

So with that in mind - instead of dying… why don’t be the only ones who survive the improbable, just us that is, nobody else who was with us - afterall, their not in a good 90% of the film are they so fuck them, its as if they were cast to die… Oh and what a bastard stroke of shit-luck it is to find Mr Big Monster has suddenly turned up right next to us! Que disastre!

However, we can’t be soft and let that get to us, we must keep in mind that we’re the special ones so most of us will survive again… and oh look, as if by magic its fucked off and left us alone, marvelous! It seems that we’re so very, very good at surviving that even the little things that killed EVERYONE in sight earlier seem to have left us alone for some reason - why on Earth would they do that?!? Ho hum, at least they did eh? To be honest I thought we’d have been easy pickings what with our existing injuries (some of which are pretty horrific I have to say) and so we wouldn’t really do that much to defend ourselves! Right, we’ve had our monster fun so whats left to do… I know… lets fuck off over there and finally die eh? Though I do suspect that we’ll find out in the morning that its just us and the cockroaches left. Hallelujah, Lord be praised!

I was hungover at the cinema when I saw Cloverfield, and about 1/3rd of the way back so faaar too close for my own good - the hangover, effort spent on refocussing and the glaring screen/shakey-cam all came together to make me feel what I assume was abit sea-sick!

I found it to be passable, some great bits but too much to pick holes in without trying for my liking and end, well that just dragged and dragged until the funky little bit with the ferris wheel/splash in the background and so on - thought that was a good touch.

I remeber someone trying to be a showoff once with some and he ended up lighting his hand, that was quite good. Other than that I don’t recall too much that was special about it, though I had been on the Jager not too long before so I was probably a total mess but perfectly clear within myself… or something.
