Re: ola in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Yes that is the Jillys in Manchester or Rock(cock)world as its known. My friend saw Eddie in the arena a couple of weeks back. I’d quite like to see him again, very funny guy. By the way, I only realised the hoochalobster thing a few days ago- guess I’m slow on the uptake.
Just to add to the campaign of doing as much as I can to get T? spread about- I work in a music shop in the evil Trafford Centre and I’ve been pestering like hell for them to get the DVD in and their finally gonna do it!!! Had to rant at someone at our head office today to get it done but it worked. Thank funk for that- its taken too long!! Will keep up the campaign to get T? played in as many places as possible round town because they deserve it!!!
PS. Do Limited addiction (think thats the name but the brains drunk) fancy some gigs in Manchester? My bands gigging again round here but almost everyone we’ve played with thinks that they’re great just because of where they’re from and we’re sick of playing with them. So, we kinda want some new people around. Let us know, cheers!

Re: ola in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Just thought I’d chip in after reading these- got IIKM played in the main room in Jillys last saturday after the machine head gig. Cost a beer but hey its worth it! I’d also like to report that there was no emptying of the dance floor while it was on! Thought you’d like to know. :)

Re: More News From The Patient in General Therapy? Topics
It was meant in a positive- “glad your not as bad as that” way. Sorry, didnt mean to cause any extra worry. :)
And its not stopped me from playing drums- and I save money on ear plugs! So I think we’ll see Martin return soon!

Man thats not nice. My being deaf in one ear was caused by Mumps when I was about three and it did sort of the same thing- my ear drum, cochlea and nerves are all buggered now. Hope you fair better than I did!
Keep getting better!! :)

Oh was I drunk when I wrote that post. Just ignore the extra harassment of Neil bit. Rest still stands though.

Re: Yow gies. in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Hey Nick! Man its good to see other drummers on a forum! I saw your posts on other threads about what gear Neil uses and so on. So having met the man and I’m ashamed to admit, harrased the poor man when I’ve been drunk I thought I’d say hi to you aswell.
I take it Neil teaches you at home with your kit for your sister to be wandering around. So, what kit do you use? Dimensions, tuning etc? And if you’ve any other interesting details and drum talk to dish out please do.
If you can tell Neil that I’m sorry and quite embarresed for my drunken harrasing of his mobile in Nottingham both pre an post gig that’d appreciated. I just got caught up in the excitment of seeing T? again (plus a bottle of triple sec neat and a few Newkey Browns).
Anyway feel free to give us a shout.
Right i should put the whiskey down and go to bed. I’m up at 6.

Re: Here we go…so count me in! in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Yeah i guess most couldn’t. Thats the story that stuck the most about meeting them, probably because of being older, a bit more worldly and thus able to converse with the guys. Oh and being legally able to drink and so the beer courage kicked in a bit. I had met them very briefly in 96 or 97 but there was a load of people out the back of the manchester uni after the guys had played so I didn’t really get a look in then, however I do remember Andy bringing a case of Becks out from the bus and declared “Help yourselves!” and on being asked simultaneoulsy where then new boy Graham was and why Martin hadn’t appeared yet Michael announced “Graham? hes on his knees!” Funny stuff eh?
Oh speaking of Martin, I read before about his ear. Man, thats bad. I was actually getting worried the other night in Nottingham because he wasn’t there and wondering what had happened. It’s not something I’d wish on anyone- I’m deaf in my right ear and have been since I was three, its not a good thing normally but for a musician?! I hope he gets well soon coz that cant be a good experience. I’d wish for broken bones (for me, not Martin, that be evil if I did that!) if I could get my hearing back.
It does have its good points with “selective hearing” in conversations I dont really want to have :) However, being right footed and playing a bass drum thats set off to my right can be a git. So I just bought a second. Ahh… drums
Anyway enough whisky fueled ramble, thanks for having me here.

Here we go…so count me in! in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Title: Here we go…so count me in!
I’ve been meaning to sign up and get on here for ages so I thought i’d finally do it.
I’ve been listening to Therapy since just before Troublegum came out when my best friend at the time (sadly no longer with us) bought Pleasure death and upon hearing it thought something along the lines of “Christ! This is amazing!”
I can’t remember exactly how many times I’ve seen T? off the top of my head but it’s around 8 or 9 now, last time being Rock City the other night.
On the fave song front, it shifts around a bit but at the mo its a three way tie between Bad mother, Sister and If it kills me.
Other interesting bits; I met T? in A bar called Big Hands in Manchester back in May after the gig and by God, they were the coolest band I’ve have ever been fortunate enough to meet. I was too drunk to really remember how long I spent yaking (mainly to Andy and Neil but a bit with Martin and I said a brief hi to Michael) But it was long enough to cover everything from the gig they’d just played to Mike Portnoy, my band and my friend who first got me into T?. After chatting to Neil about my band he gave me his phone number to get the address for Sumo off him as at the time I didnt have a net connection. However,it was a bit later on that I was really overwhelmed by how cool T? are when Andy proposed a toast to my friend- I cant really describe what that meant to me.
So, great music and great guys making and playing it.
Wow, this is quite long! Sorry!
