Re: Best of Lists…2011 in Chit-Chat
Not including reissues here, but I enjoyed the following:
Dropkick Murphys - Going Out In Style
Evile - Five Serpents Teeth
Crowbar Sever The Wicked Hand
Fucked Up - David Comes To Life
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
There were other albums that came out this year that I liked, though the Metallica/Lou Reed album is more miss than hit
Gigs - hard to choose but Gallows were amazing at Sin City. One of Frank’s last gigs with the band and took me agaes to get over it and I don’t say that easily. Maiden in Cardiff, what’s to say but amazing. BTW, met Janick Gers in a pub afterwards. The Specials were awesome too but that Gallows gig, fucking, check the you tube footage…and see if you can spot a bald tattooed fella wearing glasses in the crowd.
Films - Red State but Rise of the Planet of The Apes had a great story and wasn’t depended on special effects to make a great move. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was something out of my comfort zone but worth viewing none the less.
Books - Bloodaxe’s Being Human anthology, Hate by Matthew Collins and Niall Griffiths’ Ten Pound Pom were excellent.

Re: Desert Island Discs in Chit-Chat
Eight Tracks? Okay, here goes…
REM - The One I Love
Therapy? - Screamager
Pantera - Walk
Public Enemy - She Watched Channel Zero
Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne
Levellers - Liberty Song
Metallica - One
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Book - Staying Alive, an anthology of poetry published by Bloodaxe
Object - my guitar.
That said, this list could change.

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
Last gig I went to was Gallows recently at Sin City and it has to be said it was fucking mental. I still can’t the gig out of my head but glad to have seen them again since Frank is leaving soon.

Re: Farts… in Chit-Chat
Farting is a Sunday tradition. An hour or so after that dinner of meat, veg and gravey, all those gases form and those ripples felt on the buttocks feels great. Louder the better.
For teenage boys, farting its the ultimate form of comedy. Done in lessons where the teacher is a right (*add insulting word of your choice HERE*) and not only does it cause a chuckle, it also ruins the teacher’s lesson.
Cheerio, of to work in the office where fellow workers and I will discuss that lovely curry house and compare one another’s gas exchanges.

Re: Death Race 2011 in Chit-Chat
Sod it, but in no particular order
Margret Thatcher
Ian Paisley Snr
Jack Nicholson
Michael Douglas (though should he pass away, Swansea won’t get any peace coz he married to CZJ)
Max Clifford (long shot but he’s a pain in the arse for those who don’t lap up the tabloids)
Rupert Murdoch
Donlad Trump (more money than bleeding sense…oh, and wants a part Scotland turned into a golf course)
Frankie Boyle
Roy Chubby Brown
George Bush Snr
Susan Boyle (there will be a few times where she’ll might crack up again…)…can’t think of any one else at the mo…

Re: Death Race 2011 in Chit-Chat
I know some of the people listed are not my mug of coffee, but this is GROSS.
But very addictive, I must admit.
By the way, put Thatcher on the list.

Re: Death Race 2010 in Chit-Chat
One of Andy Cairns’ influences and if you listen to Suicide Pact:You First, Beefheart’s influence is on some of the tracks,
RIP.
Oh, if there’s anyone above looking down, please take away an artist that has no talent but is so shoved down the throat rather than take away a great, we would be ever so grateful, thank you.

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
Saw Gallows last Monday in Cardiff. Awesome band yet very under rated. Its the closet band we got to the Clash and Black Flag yet the press rehash old glories though rather than cover newer bands.

Re: Quitting Smoking in Chit-Chat
Gimme, relapses are not uncommon and I say that from experience, but three days ain’t that bad for a first go.

Re: Quitting Smoking in Chit-Chat
Guys, I’m glad I signed in when I saw this post as I went without for two months, only to start again when I went through a bad spell. I had been trying to give up on and off for years now, and the last time I wanted to give up, it was going very well until I hit a bout of lowness and started smoking daily again.
My mother says if I go through those days again, just buy a packet of 10 and try again the next day. She meant well but it hardly worked.
I used an inhalater and they do work and intend to go back to using that shortly. That said, I worry about those black days coming back and I go through several mood swings and want to smoke, what do I do then?
Cheers, and many congrets to those who have given up ;-)

Re: Tony Blair - A Journey in Chit-Chat
Would I buy his book?
In a word, no; I wouldn’t even buy when its on sale at the local discount book shop in Swansea.
He went into No.10 with good intensions but he fucked that up, and don’t get me started on his pal Bush.

Re: Tattoos in Chit-Chat
Those are good magazines. I read them regularly myself though I’m waiting for a bad write up of a convention from both publications - they praise them highly but surely some of them are not as cracked up to be.

Re: Tattoos in Chit-Chat
ha, if you were in Swansea, Citizen I could advise you but since you’re in London where there must be on in every street I can’t really answer but you can do what most first timers do and get info from word of mouth, read the magazines and all that.
And remember this motto - A good tattoo ain’t cheap and a cheap tattoo ain’t good.

Re: Tattoos in Chit-Chat
I had a skeletal clown on springs a few years ago on my shoulder a few years ago and as an early birthday pressent to myself, I’d have the same one on the other but looking the otherway. Looks great once healed, and inbetween them is Gemil :-(0)

Re: Tattoos in Chit-Chat
Got another one myself today, early birthday present to myself in a way, though its getting to the point where i’m looking at blank spaces and wondering what to fill them up with.

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat
Gallows at the Millennium Music Hall in November.
A great band that no one outside the metal/punk press would go near.
So much for the NME waiting for the new Clash.

Wasn’t much of a fan of Bush - I found them to be to conservitive for my tastes. Terrorvision had their moments though.

Re: Death Race 2010 in Chit-Chat
I am shocked to hear of Stuart Cable.
Stereophonics didn’t really mean much to me after Performance and Cocktails but up to that point that band, with Stuart, were something.
Last time I saw Stuart was when Killing For Company opened up for the Who three years ago and they were good. Also, he was pretty good as a televison presenter, where I first heard the Darkness.
Rest easy Stu…I can picture Kerrang filling its pages with tributes for the forth time this year :-(

Here’s another one for the list - Gary Coleman, Arnold in Differ’nt Strokes passed away, aged 42.
Another figure of my childhood gone :-(
