Re: New album “Crooked Timber” 23 March 2009 in General Therapy? Topics

Oh god how something can be this good? I´ll have to listen the album a dozen more times to say something smarter.
As my friend put it: “Listening to this one reminds you why Therapy? is about the best band in the world.”
Fuck yeah!!!!

Yes please, NOT a re-release of troublegum that’s their most overrated album… I don’t hate it though, but it’s my least favorite T? album… everyone always acts like it’s the only good thing they’ve ever done. :-/

It certainly ain´t the only good thing they´ve ever done. But when it came out it was the best thing I had EVER heard and today it´s no less good. It´s kind of different now and I think that the band has evolved out of that anyway and that one can´t listen to Troublegum with fresh ears anymore. Still it´s a damn good rock album and a 5.1 mix would give it a new expression. For example there´s a lot of good guitar tracks on the record and opening up that landscape would be great. Same thing with Infernal Love. Therapy? have many times since showed us that how honest band they are and that they don´t have to rely on the success of Troublegum. The recent albums are fucking killers and I truly love that stuff. Still I´m not afraid to say that I like Troublegum as well. But who am I to say anything? I watch the re-runs of Animal Hospital on TV and still like them too.

Back in Black and Ballbreaker.
Fly on the Wall has some great songs but I think the sound on the album is weird.

Re: Potato Junkies plays Therapy? PT 2 in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah. The link was just to keep this discussion up. This is about my gig too. Looking forward to see what the Potato Junkies are made of. Hey just got that our bandname is about potatoes. And it´s JUNKfood. Junk and junkies and potatoes and… insanity! This can´t be a coincidence. JFK, Nils Gustafsson, HDTV… The truth is out there.

Were you at DiAnno show also? Didn´t see U there (few beers, not wearing my glasses etc.) I enjoyed it very much. I was a serious Maiden fan when I was younger. Now I´m not THAT serious but still love the band very much.

BTW. This one will be the very last Makkaraperunat show. Miss this and there´s no chance to see the band again. Kind of Homer Simpson - Mr. T incident if U remember how that went.

I like Gary Moore more in his 80s metal days, class guitar playing all round. I liked his contribution to Thin Lizzy also - was only the Black Rose album, or?

I believe it is. (I may be wrong)
Isn´t there an appearance on LIFE (LIVE) also?
Before Thin Lizzy Moore and Lynott started together in Skid Row which is a band I haven´t heard.
But the other Skid Row ain´t that bad at all. Hill and Sabo are top class players.

Also Gorham, Robertson, Sykes…
Well, anyone who´s played guitar in Thin Lizzy can´t be nothing but true hero.
Oh my god! Lizzy is brilliant. Black Rose goes into my cd player right away.
Nothing wrong with Moore´s other performance either.

Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

HI kossu! Take an advise from the Doctor:
Drink as much as you want but don´t go to sleep until you´ll be complitely sober (means you´ll have to stop the drinking at some point). The hangover hits you when you can´t fight it and that´s when you sleep. Believe me. Works every time. It´s hard but worth it.
So have fun at the wedding. I´m stuck here at my workshop waiting for the paint to dry (working on a new guitar u see).

Re: My Marshall… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

http://www.jj-electronic.sk/
JJ´s are the best valves for Marshall me thinks. But be sure you´ll get a matched set. Otherwise the tubes won´t last too long.
Also check out http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/
Great stuff there. The Biasmaster especially. You can replace the tubes and then easily bias the amp yourself. Gets cheaper in the long run.

What a great show! And met some greatest people ever. So best to you all. And Kossu, it´s always a pleasure meeting. (how about next saturday at Vastavirta? Makkaraperunat+ KARANTEENI!!! questlist available so let me know )

There was a short review on a thursday´s paper that I bought in Dublin. Can´t recall what paper it is but when I find it I´ll let you know. It´s somewhere in my luggage.
It said there was the two loudest bands in rock´n´roll. Hell yeah!

This is probably the best pop music Finland could produce back in the 80´s. Coolest video ever. Really.

Re: OCFA reviews please… in General Therapy? Topics

I´ve followed the conversation and wasn´t going to comment any way on this one but…
tsk tsk seems to be the one voice of reason. There´s some good words for everybody to think of. No matter if they downloaded OCFA or not.

Or should I have kept my mouth shut? Too late now.
If someone has something against my sympathy for tsk tsk, E-Mail me. I´m not talking bout the thing here more than this.

Re: pick-up potting in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Yeah. Metal covers off. and if theres some tape or something covering the coil itself you should try to take it off too. And dip the whole thing all the way.
There´s a lot of instructions in the net about this but one can´t learn it properly until one has done this in practise. So you might want to run a test waxing first with a pickup that doesn´t matter if it goes fucked.
But read some articles about this first. It will surely help. I think that Lindy Fralin might have some tips? Check that site.

http://www.fralinpickups.com

Stewmac can also have something. Even books or DVDs?
I´m not familiar with those rose morris guitars. But I have no reason to doubt that they´re no other but very good guitars. If they´re handmade and produced in quite small number series they can´t be that bad.
