Re: Tour in April in Therapy? Live

I don’t know if it can be called a double bill as Therapy? are on the bill as guests to The Wildhearts as it’s their tour and Therapy? are their special guests…T? will undoubtedly play a much longer set than The Glitterati but a shorter one than the Wildhearts, seeing as it’s their tour

Re: Audience on scopophobia in Therapy? Live

Glasgow crowds used to always go manic for T? but over the last couple of years they’ve calmed down a lot…dunno why??? old age maybe

Re: Tour in April in Therapy? Live

Wildhearts don’t need Therapy? to shift tickets as they sold out the Barrowlands last year…

And Wildhearts are bigger, these days at least…they may have split up but they have a big hardcore fan base…A hardcore fan base that helped get their self financed single get on top of the pops last year…

But don’t get me wrong, therapy? are my preference…so long as Andy and the boys play a glorious Greatest hits support set…

But it’s going to be an awesome gig

Re: Tour in April in Therapy? Live

I booked the tickets on the strength of The Wildhearts and Backyard Babies…but when i just read the email i nearly cried…What a fucking awesome night it’ll be…I see what you’re saying about Troublegum and IL being bigger…but I think The Wildhearts have been the consistently bigger band…but at the same time…both bands were at their commercial peak round about the same time…all we need now is a reformed Terrorvision on the bill and i would cream myself here at my desk in work…and i’d be proud of it

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

Complaining with a like minded, and equally abused boyfriend is all part of the course…

I had to buy her the sugababes album at Christmas…the guy at HMV looked at me very strangely

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

yeah…she was using my Pc when i was in the shower and then just matter of factly advised me that she’d just ordered cds and she’d give me the money as she didn’t have her cards with her…

I’ve heard that too many times though…

I’ve resigned to the fact that i will forever feed her disgusting habit

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

You can be honest with me sir…It IS pain we go through…

Steph has some good taste in music…but her good taste in music is sadly just the empty spaces on my shelves…she’s getting better…but my credit card was abused this afternoon as she ordered the new Britney album, the new Dido album, and Busted…I felt like crying…but what can you do…

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

tell me about it…I have a huge, impressive dvd and video collection if i do say so myself…filled with classics and generally great films but my girlfriend is a nightmare for letting me watch anything decent…sadly she’s a girly girl and unless it’s trash, she ain’t interested…managed to drag her to the last therapy? gig though…

Response - “it was okay”

there’s no pleasing some folks

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

and so you should be…the movie is a classic…

Re: Interview with Michael in Chit-Chat

I’m with Dan on this one…Pacino is a legend…I can pretty much recite every line of his in Carilot’s Way…but his finest performance must be in Donnie Brasco…legendary…

My girlfriend hates hime..she claims he’s “just a wee man who loves mumbling then shouting loads”

but she’s grand looking so i let her off

This may be really greedy but… in Therapy? Live

Title: This may be really greedy but…

When are my favourite Irish lads coming back to Glasgow to play a gig…

i know it hasn’t been long but…after seeing the last gig…listening to the albums obsessively in chronological order…and then getting the dvd from a red man with a big sack…I’m getting withdrawl symptoms…and to be honest…they can take as long as they want writing and recording a new album…

i just want to see them live again…one of the best live bands ever to exsist…and i’ve sen a hell of a lot of bands…

So get your Oirish arses back to Glasgow soon

Re: The Twilight Singers in Other Bands & Artists

Went to see TS on saturday night in Glasgow…they were amazing…Greg Dulli is the daddy…The Outkast cover was excellent

Posted on Tue, 3 February 2004 at 16:54

Re: Amplifier in General Therapy? Topics

I used to / still love The Driven…they were an excellent and very original…or as original as you can be…

Anybody into The Twilight Singers / Afghan Whigs…went to see Twilight Singers at King tut’s on Saturday night…amazing gig…Greg Dulli is like the ultimate frontman

Re: Amplifier in General Therapy? Topics

The White Light Motorcade is actually a very enjoyable affair…i could go into the influences yadda yadda…but it just simply rocks…They supported Therapy? at the Garage in Glasgow last year…and they gave it their all…bags of energy and there were only about 15 people there…The should have been on second and the pish that is Amplifier should have played to 15 people.

Anyway…White light Motorcade album is worth the five quid it set me back…absolute bargain of last year

Re: T? reference in Offspring review in General Therapy? Topics

I definitely see both points of view so we’ll all have to agreed to disagree…but where’s the fun in that

Re: Amplifier in General Therapy? Topics

Therapy? have loads of great band ssupporting them…

personal favourites were Clutch, Terrorvision, Joyrider, Rico, Whipping Boy and I was really impressed with White Light Motorcade…so much i bought the album at the merch stand…Also Whipping Boy’s Heartworm album is still my favourite album of all time…anyone know where i can get hold of another copy as mine is burnt out…

Anyone know what happened to a band called The Driven

Re: T? reference in Offspring review in General Therapy? Topics

No offence Tightrope Walker…but I think you missed the point of the review…it wasn’t written about Therapy?, it was written about The Offspring…it was stating that the riff was like a mediocre Therapy? riff…which isn’t a slur against Therapy?…in fact it’s probably a praise…as in the best that The Offspring could come up with was a riff that Therapy? would discard…as in Andy Cairns would think it was mediocre and bin it.

As much as I hate NME, they did, i think, quite a bit for Therapy? in the early days…They, if my memory serves me correctly, describe Therapy? as one of the most exciting and important indie bands since Nirvana and The Pixies in 1992…or something to that effect…But you can’t really blame NME…as they’ve all done it Kerrang, Metal Hammer, NME, Melody Maker, Select…etc…etc…They’ve all loved Therapy?…all hated Therapy?…and all been indifferent towards Therapy?…

Because at the end of the day, these magazines are business…it’s their job to sell magazines…and if that means ignore truly talented bands and praise “the next big thing” or whoevers cool at the time…and that’s what it takes to make big profits then they’ll do it…but i doubt Therapy? care…these guys are a band who made it through hard work and not because they dressed like The Strokes…and that’s something that we as fans should be proud of…the Therapy? guys never sold out…always made consistently fantastic albums…From hearing Nurse the first time…through buying troublegum on day of release…and then buying Infernal Love on the day of release…and being overwhelmed that this band were so truly amazing and awe-inspiring…to the fact that Andy Cairns donates mediocre riffs to The Offspring is even better

I think maybe thats the point…maybe people are too biased and can’t comprehend Therapy? making a mediocre riff…so therefore were offended by the piece…the review just proved to me that despite not recieveing mainstream and commercial success anymore…the band are still critically acclaimed

Re: T? reference in Offspring review in General Therapy? Topics

I don’t think that the quote in question could be taken in a negative way…the reviewer stated that it was like a mediocre Therapy? riff…

I very much doubt that he was implying that Therapy?’s riffs are in any way mediocre…As it wasn’t a Therapy? review…it was an Offspring review…

Therefore when he said that it was like a mdeiocre Therapy? riff, he obviously meant that the Offspring riff was a mediocre version of a riff that Therapy? would play…

Also, possibly implying that this massive band like Offpsring…that sell millions of albums and are very rich men…can only come up with what sounnds like a bad version of a discarded Therapy? riff…despite Therapy? being a much smaller band with hardcore fanbase…and therefore obviously more talented than the millionsellers

Or something like that

It makes sense in my head

Re: Thank You Santa in General Therapy? Topics

I think that it is indeed a fantastic dvd…and maybe i’m just being a greedy bastard but for a band that have been on the go for over a decade there could have been a lot more on there…

More Q & A
Home videos (no not that kind filthmongers)
More live snippets…
Discography and memories from Andy et al

that kind of shit

but i suppose i’ll just have to make do with a fantastic live set…excellent videos…and martin being rubbish on Q&A

Thank You Santa in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Thank You Santa

Imagine the joy…

Waking up from a drunken night out…

Driving to your family home…

Meeting up with your sister who you haven’t seen for the best part of a year…

To find out that she’d been having secret phone meetings with your girlfriend to find out what present to buy you…

to be gifted with a bottle of Wild Turkey…

Therapy? Scopophobia DVD…

And a big fuck off Toblerone…

Needless to say…My Boxing Day was a hideously drunken, chocolatey, rock n roll muthafucka of a day

And I loved it…

And now Therapy? have a new fan in my girlfriend…especially the boy “the cute guitarist that plays the funny cello thingy”

Re: White Light Motorcade in Other Bands & Artists

One of the best bands i’ve seen as support in years…pity they played to an empty Garage but those boring bastards Amplifier played to a busy Garage…should’ve been the other way about…great band…great attitude…great stage presence…great album…ones to look out for…bassist has a mean aim after hitting me in the chops with a plec…nice yellow colour though…not my chops…their normal colour…the plec is yellow…nevermind

Hello…I am mightyscoop…and I am a Therapy?holic in New Members (Introduce Yourself)

Title: Hello…I am mightyscoop…and I am a Therapy?holic

Dunno remember when i first got into Therapy?…It is probably a toss up between two things…Borrowing Babyteeth from my mates sister…and (and i’m not proud of this) stealing a bootleg copy of Nurse from a record fair when my folks weren’t looking…

anyway…

I got hooked…and have been hooked ever since…what with gigs and festival appearances, i think i’ve seen therapy? about ten times…

The best gigs of Therapy? were at the Barrowlands about 94/95…mobbed…place went nuts…i ended up sweaty, shoeless, and bruised…

and then when they played the Cathouse in 2000 and it was my birthday and people were pissed at me crowdsurfing but i didn’t care and the band were excellent…Kyuss …And the circus leaves town album was playing before they came on so it was a birthday dream come true…

I act like an unofficial unpaid ad guy as i hassle everyone i know into buying the albums etc…

My musical tastes vary everything from Fugazi and Kyuss to The Wildhearts and MAssive Attack to Life of Agony to Afghan Whigs..but Therapy? were the sound of my adolesence…growing up listening to Therapy? and trying to work out why the popular girls ignored the “punk” guys…oh how things change…now the popular girls are screaming for punk…ah well…

And if anyones going to glasgow gig then see you there

So it’s a goodbye from me and it’s goodbye from him

Re: Glasgow!! in Therapy? Live

is it sold out yet????

If not, then if fucking well should be!!!!

This’ll be my 1…2..3..4…5..oh who cares how many times ‘ve seen them…all that matters is that it’ll be fucking rockin’…

The best gigs from Therapy? in Glasgow that I’ve ever been to was a long long time ago when they played the Barrowlands and it was mobbed…the crowd was mental…and after it i came out looking like it’d been mugged…15 and in the pit…tremendous gig..

And then next gig was when they played The Cathouse (Therapy? playing the Cathouse…a crime in it’s self)…it was my birthday…and it was dinner and drinks…then therapy? madness..despite people getting annoyed from my persistent crowd surfing…and drunkeness…

So if you’re going to gig then see you down the front or at the bar
