Suggested new names for T? members in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Suggested new names for T? members

both rocket from the crypt and the Wu-Tang clan have their own name generators on their websites. After consulting these excellent services, I would like to submit to the board that we request name changes for all band members

Andy becomes GREEN LOON CON LECHE (quite apt I think)
Michael becomes VARIABLE EVIL V1.4 REVISION 6 (ditto)
Graham will be known as VALO N FACTORIAL (eh?)
Martin will be THONG KINEVIL MAN (hahaha)
(RFTC version)

Andy becomes ‘Tha Drunken Watcher’
Michael becomes ‘Excessive Hunter’
Graham will be known as ‘Dynamic Destroyer’
Martin will be ‘Merry Overlord’
(Wu-Tang Clan version)

I really should be working you know…

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

although I agree with Innocents comment about fans going down, one thing you have to remember is that Troublegum peaked with high sales because of many things, not least because they made a fantastic record, timed it just right and stood out like a sore thumb from the rubbish around at the time. Then along came Infernal Love which most people, as Michael once said, expected to be Troublegum Mark 2, but wasnt. By that time, the casual fans that the band picked up bought Infernal Love but were disappointed, hence the subsquent drop off. Add to that the marketing clout that A&M put behind the band before that wasnt really present for the next albums. All in all, I think that Therapy’s fanbase hasnt really shrunk, theyve just got rid of the fans that wanted them to make Troublegum Mark 2, 3,4 and 5. The same amount of fans bought Shameless as they did Nurse. Personally, Im glad the guys have gone down this route, they develop a new sound with each album and endless copies of TG would be boring.

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

I know that Troublegum sold well over 100,000 in the UK alone and Infernal Love is just under that figure. With European, Japanese etc sales included the figure for Troublegum I seem to remember seeing somewhere around 250,000. I’ll see what I can dig out of the memory palace.

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

I’ll have a chat to Motor and find out although I guess they’re usually not that keen on giving out sales figures.

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

by the way, Therapy have sold a million too.

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

do YOU always need to be so negative and rude to people?

‘they were succesful in europe but bands that are only famous there and not in the u.s. come and go’…

bands that are not famous in the US do not ‘come and go’, they exist perfectly well in the rest of the world with much success without the US taking any notice. I can think of a million examples. I can also think of a lot of examples of bands that achieve success in the US and ‘come and go’ in the rest of the world, because, quite simply, they are pants.

Re: in all seriousness in General Therapy? Topics

I wouldnt really classify Slayer and Pantera as being that successful, especially when you compare them to Therapy?

I disagree that success in the US gives makes a band ‘successful’. I am not anti-american when I say this, but three quarters of all UK and European bands that are superstars in the UK, Europe and Japan have not had success in the US, because the market is generally far too retarded to ‘get it’. Take a look at the American charts - mostly rubbish - and has been for years. The only rock bands that have made it have had to ‘dumb down’ for the US or were pretty safe and conventional anyway. I would gladly take the fame and fortune that comes from from success in other territories without having to change for the US market.

Re: Meat Abstract 7” in General Therapy? Topics

as far as I remember the labels on the bootleg are the right way round, but on the original they are the wrong way round. I think there was about 500 of the bootleg done (nothing to do with me though!!)

Re: 16-7-2001 Gimme, Gimme, Gimme back my brain in General Therapy? Topics

oops, guess who just looked at the official site for the first time in ages and found this ? :B-Sides For Gimme single!!

—————-
Folks, we just recorded 6 songs for B-sides to our ‘Gimme Back My Brain’EP. We did a brand new song entitled ‘Gimme Therapy?’ and 5 covers continuing the ‘Gimme’-theme!!
They are:
BLACK FLAG-‘GimmieGimmieGimmie’
IGGY AND THE STOOGES-‘Gimme Danger’
EC8OR-‘Gimme Nyquil’
RAMONES-‘Gimme Shock Treatment’
ABBA-‘Gimme A Man After Midnight’
We did them in London at the weekend and they sound ripping!! The EP will be out on 16/07/01 and both the 7’ and CD will have the lead track plus at least 3 or 4 of the covers.
Michael T? 2001

despite being a bit late with the news, at least I guessed one of the other Gimme songs correctly…wahay !

Re: 16-7-2001 Gimme, Gimme, Gimme back my brain in General Therapy? Topics

The b-side cover versions are supposed to be:

Gimme gimme gimme ABBA
Gimmie gimmie gimmie BLACK FLAG
plus more…

according to the conversation Graham had with a dotmusic reporter at
the Deftones London show last week…

anyone know what the other gimme gimme gimme songs could be ? These are my guesses:

Gimme gimme shock treatment THE RAMONES
Gimme gimme teenage head PRIMAL SCREAM
Gimme head THE RADIATORS
Gimme head JESUS AND MARY CHAIN

Any more guesses guys ?

Re: Discography help in General Therapy? Topics

Hi guys

Thanks very much for the (very quick!) feedback on the list - I really appreciate it…I have added the Japanese cat number and the Teethgrinder CDm that Iris gave me the details for ( and a drunk opalmantra :-) ). I will add on the second version of Misery when Iris gives me the info. Ive checked the two copies of Face the Strange on cassette, and there are two versions with different cat numbers), one with stickers, one without. I feel like a real trainspotter doing this, but I guess someone had to :-)

Cheers everyone and hope to hear any more corrections soon

Discography help in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Discography help

me again, just wondered if anyone has two items that I need details for for the discography.

Suicide Pact - You First 4track promo cassette (need tracks and cat no)
Bad Karma Follows you around (1tk promo) (need cat no, if there is one) (NOT the 2tk version with Fat camp on it)

Once I have these two, I think the list is complete…you can have a look at the raw Excel spreadsheet (no pictures etc) by downloading it from http://briefcase.yahoo.com/ianhayllar

Please note that only part 1 is there at the moment, all compilation appearances, split singles etc are in part 2 (to come). So only official T?-only releases.

If you have any items on the list, and the details are wrong, please please please let me know.

Ta !

Question for Iris ! in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Question for Iris !

Hi Iris

saw a post earlier on on the board regarding cassettes…I can send you a list of them if you want, as the discography is nearly finished. Can you answer me a question though ? Ive never heard of the Nausea/Accelerator cassette ? The cat no is A&M USA but no-one I know ever remembers one going out to radio…could you have a look at it and tell me what it says on the case? Would be a big help !

Thanks !

Re: Trigger Inside Joey Beltram mixes in General Therapy? Topics

Rene, I think it would be a great idea to find a way of working out who has 128k/44khz MP3 recordings of the 20 rarest tracks and maybe we can submit them to you ? The list that appeared earlier was good. Why not get everyone to submit a list of the 10 tracks they want to get their hands on the most and then see what the results are ? Im sure that between us we have all the CD’s, vinyl and tapes from which to make good quality MP3 recordings…I know that I can help out with most of these.

Re: Trigger Inside Joey Beltram mixes in General Therapy? Topics

that would be cool.

Actually I have a question to everyone regarding sharing stuff that people maybe havent heard before - old b-sides, demos, bootlegs - ie tracks that wouldnt be losing the band any royalties. Has the discussion ever come up about creating somewhere on the Net where we could put all these tracks in MP3 form ? (As i mentioned before, I have pretty much everything and would be willing to share the stuff that hasnt been deleted or was never commercially available in the first place. I know that DCG (T?s management) wouldnt even consider allowing this, not sure about the guys themselves…but, if we kept it among ourselves, do you think we could sort something out ? answers on a postcard please :-)

Re: next to you? in General Therapy? Topics

This happened sometime in 92 or 93 I think, I remember talking to Andy about it in an interview on the Nurse tour. I seem to remember he said was really looking forward to doing it before the show as Sting was a great hero of his, but then when they did the show he found out that ‘he was a complete twat’. I still have this on tape as part of a very funny interview with the guys. there was also a funny part when Fyfe started talking about A&M giving the band complete creative control when they signed - he said they then tested it out by recording 7 minutes of ‘flatulence’ called ‘Fuck Shit piss wank’ or something like that to see if A&M really would let them release it. Strangely enough they declined. I think Fyfe was just winding me up as we were doing a radio interview but it was still funny. Can MikeHell or any of the lads confirm the existence of this track ? :-) If so, maybe it can go on a B-side as ‘FSPW (The (Thankfully) Lost Demo)?
