Re: Jagermeister Gig, Bristol, April 2012 - My Thoughts in Therapy? Live
I own every single Therapy? album, but seem to be alone amongst the hardcore in the fact that Troublegum remains my favourite album of theirs. That’s no diss on the rest of their catalogue… it’s just that that particular album is perfect. So for a set where a large portion of the crowd aren’t specifically there for them, mixing that (which will be the best known stuff amongst the non T? fans) with their ace new album (and bunging in Teethgrinder) worked well for me. I’m sure the headline tour in September will have a more eclectic setlist, but I make no apology for always wanting to hear some Troublegum stuff in there too!

Re: Fyfe to record with Ginger in Other Bands & Artists
All 30 tracks are now available to those that pledged. You can’t get the 30 track triple CD now, which was £20, but you can either get the 30 tracks as a digital download for £10, or for £12 you get a 12 track “best of” (voted by the pledgers) and a download of all 30.
It’s all brilliant stuff if you love Ginger’s music (which I do), but don’t expect the Fyfe tracks to sound like his drumming from the T? days, it’s just him playing on the songs Ginger had written. And I don’t say “just” in a derogatory sense at all; all 30 tracks (Fyfe played on 10) are fantastic.

Re: Fyfe to record with Ginger in Other Bands & Artists
Yes, it’s Denzel drumming on Ginger’s tour in December. Denzel’s one of the few drummers that could keep pace with Fyfe, he’s absolutely incredible. And a lovely bloke to boot.
Ginger said on his Formspring page that he’ll ask Fyfe if he’s up for playing at his birthday gig (December 17th), although that has been sold out for ages. You usually get an extremely eclectic mix of musicians at his birthday gigs - last year including Paul Cook from The Sex Pistols, and Nathan Connolly from… Snow Patrol. Nathan turns out to be a massive Wildhearts fan… whodathunk it?

Did anyone else do all eight screams in Unrequited? That hurt. :)

I can answer the Ginger part easily enough. Ginger now plays live with Michael Monroe (ex-Hanoi Rocks), and he/they are currently supporting Motorhead on tour. Think Ash might be touring too.
Incredible gig. Just brilliant.

Even better, I’m in the Aldgate East Travelodge, a steal at £25.50. In spite of the name, it’s actually a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge. I’ve stayed in that one, and indeed the Farringdon one, both are fine but the Aldgate one’s much nearer to a tube station.

Re: Bristol Thekla 15/10/09 , just a minute ago: discuss… in Therapy? Live
Fantastic gig last night in Bristol - a few different songs from Swansea and the running order was mixed up a little.

Can I aggravate the easily aggravated by adding a post to this thread with the word “Bristol” in it, please?
Thanks!

Hres a question, if you were in a band would you read your message board?
I’d say it depended on the band’s fanbase. Here I’d imagine it’s not a big problem. But I saw a feature on Panic! At The Disco the other day, and specifically some of their fans and… you’d just be scared of what you read.

Title: Blimey
I didn’t realise this board ever got like this! Oh well. Perhaps I should lighten proceedings up with an anecdote of something that happened to me today.
I went into B&Q and an elderly bloke in an Orange outfit came up to me and asked me if I wanted decking.
Thought I had better pre-empt anything before it all kicked off, so I made sure I got in the first punch. Now I’m banned from all B&Q stores. Not fair.

Now there’s two bands I never thought I’d see mentioned in the same sentence.
They just happen to be two of my very favourites, though. It’s good when people embrace variety…

Personally, I can’t stand Lordi. Finland should have got some of their good death metal bands to enter instead, because there are a few.
If it had been a good metal band rather than such a top caricature, I think they’d have been at the other end of the table. This IS Eurovision!! :)

Re: Will There Be A Single? (Rain Hits Concrete chat) in General Therapy? Topics
My take on it…
Unless you’re selling the sort of quantities that last week’s reality show winner (whoever that is) does these days, you’re almost certainly to make a loss. At least this way you can argue that the amount of discs manufactured is the amount sold - and every penny goes to the band.
Plus in the good old days (just to make me sound old), most CD singles were four tracks with three of them being exclusive. It was worth buying them then and I did it all the time. Now I’m required to get two CDs to get the lead track twice and (if I’m lucky) two new tracks. Any band having the temerity to release a four track CD finds themselves immediately ineligible for the chart. This measure was bought in apparently to help stimulate single sales (well that worked, didn’t it? They’re at an all-time low) and to take the pressure off bands who had to come up with new stuff all the time (so it was OK to release three new tracks across two formats?)
All bollocks basically, so as far as I’m concerned T? have done the right thing.

No, you’re right, it was freezing. Once I was down the front for 80s Matchbox, Terrorvision and The Wildhearts it was fine.
What a great day. One or two organisational issues but if you knew some of the stuff the organisers had to go through, they would have nothing but anyone’s total respect. Next year again please.

OK, but just to clarify - this isn’t me, it’s just quoting what Ginger said on a radio station so I can’t clarify whether there was any truth in it or not.
Ginger said on Total Rock that T? weren’t playing the event because they refused to be below Terrorvision on the bill.
A big fat “allegedly” should be inserted at this point in terms of that statement, but I’ve heard the actual interview myself.

Re: Should Therapy? play Scarborough.. The poll! in Therapy? Live
In a radio interview (on Total Rock), Ginger gave an alternative reason as to why they’re not playing, and I hope it wasn’t true…

They’ve just added The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. The bill just gets better… and it needs that one little push to go from ‘brilliant’ to ‘perfect’…

Mmmm. Still, their new single sounds a lot better than anything they released from the first album. And The Glitterati have been added, which is somewhat better. The Glitterati toured with The Wildhearts before… and who was the band that played in between? :-)

Re: Therapy? in Scarborough Sept ‘05 in Therapy? Live
If they’ve been asked, I can’t think of any reason for them not to do it. No idea whereabouts they proposed they should be on the bill but it hardly matters, it’s just the ‘being there’ for something like this… if they were first on that would be fine by me (although 2nd or 3rd on the bill would be just as peachy…)
So, is the general consensus this?…
- Rehearse/work on new album
- Get on shiny bus to Scarborough
- Play fantastic gig, road test a couple of newies
- Return to shiny bus
- Finish new album
- Critical acclaim and joy all round.
… will that do? Come on… :)

Re: Therapy? in Scarborough Sept ‘05 in Therapy? Live
Whereas I have every chance of attending this gig (with 6000+ others) and would love to hear them at the rock gig of the year, before they return to the studio and make another fantastic record… hey, they could roadtest a couple of the newies!

Therapy? are probably conscious itself of their historical role in the 10-Jahre-Forestglade-Orgienmysterientheater, a short speech and play then a Joy Cover hold division: “isolation”, mixed also a little “She’s draws to control”. As addition “Breaking the Law” is angestimmt, and, “DIANE” and “(Happy People Have NO) Stories” were naturally also in the set.

If they want to, and they’ve been invited, I don’t see how they could possibly be left out. Heck, I’d happily e-mail Ginger to get him to intervene personally…
So, reliable sources. Do they really really want to do it?

I’ll be there. That’ll be a five hour drive each way, and the usual discomfort of being in a big crowd. If I can get myself there, so can T? !
Not that I’m piling on the pressure or anything… oh hang on, I am. :-)

Entirely agreed with apart from the ‘mid 90s’ bit… the albums since have been too good to call this nostalgia! Same with The Wildhearts… obviously Terrorvision haven’t released anything in a long time - but that didn’t stop their show at the Forum being my gig of the year so far.
