Re: PC music in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
well i don’t pretend to be an expert on such matters but i use a sonar Cakewalk programme called “guitar Tracks II” which is pretty basic but suits my needs (i have a really crap old pc with a crap old windows package) but they do really great packages for pretty much whatever you need. Check out the sonar website mate. :)
EDIT: Oh, and its a simple case of plugging directly into your pc and using the Sonar effects. I think! :D

I find playing the lead in the chorus of Screamager and singing on top of it is actually another bugger as well.

Re: Best guitar in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
i’ve never been into SG’s, right back when i were a lad and used to see Angus Young play one. I just think they’re kinda ugly! They seem to have really took off again of recent times though. Strats look cool, as do les pauls. But you gotta love the flying V. :D
I play a Charvel Surfcaster myself, you’ll be hard pushed to find one, mind!

you can’t go wrong with a marshall mate, in my experience. Go for it!

I’ve never, erm, done that… *puts hands in pocket, whistles and looks awkwardly around the room*
Its a great great album to warm up to, just a blast from start to finish.

Keyboards:help! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: Keyboards:help!
Right, i do a lot of home recording, and i’m after a cheap-ish keyboard thats got a decent piano sound to it. Y’know what i mean, some keyboards have sound effects on that sound nothing like the instrument their supposed to be.
So, anybody know of a decent model to get?

Re: Out of interest: String Gauges in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Ernie Ball Slinky 9’s. Although i occassionally substitute the 42 lower E string for a 44, just for a bit more oomph.

And for the love of god; DO NOT get an Encore!
Theres nothing wrong with Encore for the beginner! Thats where i, and several friends, started!
Its well and good that you can play bass and find it “a doddle”, but there are young enthusiasts out there who are picking up instruments for the first time, and are not going to be able to learn it in five minutes by listening to their stereo!

Re: Bass to start out with in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Encore. They make bog standard bass’s and guitars at low prices. They usually do a package where you get a Bass, an amp, and some kind of sheet music book for around £130, but i’ve actually seen that package as little as £99. Just shop around man, don’t be scared to go into a music store and ask for the cheapest thing they have.
And good on yer! There are too many guitarists out there and not enough bassists!! :)

Re: Can you do this? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
i’m with Divers on this, leave me for a few minutes and i can usually figure it out. I find that with some bands, say T? for example, once you’ve figured out a couple of their tunes you kinda get to know what chords and patterns Andy uses. For example once i’d figured out screamger and trigger inside the rest of troublegum came pretty easy. Solos i aint much cop at, mind.

Re: Setting Up guitars in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
what i’ve done in the past is just loosen the neck a bit and slid a plectrum between the neck and the body and tightened the neck back up. Now, i know this is a little unorthodox (!) and i’m not guaranteeing it’ll work, but it might be worth a try. Failing that its just a matter of tweaking the neck and the bridge a little until your happy. Hope that helps!!

Re: Setting Up guitars in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
are you adjusting the neck or raising the bridge?

Re: Behringer in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
well i have a Behringer X V-amp effects pedal, and all i can tell you is thats its fantastic. From what i’ve read of behringer products they’re ideal for home use but probably won’t stand the pace on the road, hence the ridiculously cheap prices. so yeah, i’d go for it.
