Re: Bass to start out with in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Encore. They make bog standard bass’s and guitars at low prices. They usually do a package where you get a Bass, an amp, and some kind of sheet music book for around £130, but i’ve actually seen that package as little as £99. Just shop around man, don’t be scared to go into a music store and ask for the cheapest thing they have.
And good on yer! There are too many guitarists out there and not enough bassists!! :)

At the moment I’m a freelance Sound Engineer/Pro Tools editor, so i’m currently working when and whereever some one wants me to work. I did a course in sound engineering a couple of years back. Started off great, interesting, exciting, but then they started pissing us about and eventually cancelled it a few months in. Well pissed off i was, i couldn’t get on another course within a decent travelling area. :(
So, i ended up as a stock controller at a cigarette distribution company. Its ok, not exactly rushed off my feet, i get to (secretly) piss about on the internet a lot.

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
Don’t you read the papers? Watch the news? Every day people are reoffending!
When i said “prison for a bit” it was a figure of speech man…
My argument is still for punishment, i was merely commenting that if they reoffend they haven’t learned anything have they?
Besides, i’m only voicing an opinion based on my knowledge and experience, i don’t have all the answers! I feel like i’m sitting an exam!
Mr self destruct you seem very touchy about the British Legal System. Its almost as if you believe it works…

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
Yes we had the death penalty, and are you telling me that things are better since we abolished it?
Yes the Americans have the death penalty AND a high crime rate, but surely if they didn’t have the death penalty they’d have a HIGHER crime rate?!
What i’m trying to say about reoffenders is that, say, take for example someone who’s raped and murdered someone. They get sent to prison for a bit, then upon release they do it again. What then? Put them back in prison?!
You make it sound like i want every criminal in the land killed! I’m talking extreme cases.

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
how do we know that the death penalty isn’t a detterent to child abusers and murderers? we don’t have the death penalty!
And i seriously doubt that the recorded cases of innocents being given the death penalty is any comparison to the amount of serious criminals who’ve been released and reoffended.

Re: Potato Junkie and ireland in General Therapy? Topics
well to be fair BB i think we need to set up some kind of system whereby we can actually witness each of the following:
A motherfucker dying like a fucker
A fucker dying like a motherfucker
Then you can take notes, weigh up the pros and cons, and make a decision as to which method suits you.
I’ve always kinda thought i’d like to die like a wheezy old bastard in my pyjamas, clutching my zimmer frame with the last bolt of strength i can muster before leaving this cruel place, but knowing there are other options out there i’d like to see whats on offer, y’know?

:(, that statement makes me really sad. How can you support a punishment like this. It’s murder. Do you support murder as well?
Depends who’s getting murdered! Seriously though, mine is an extreme opinion i know, and i don’t expect anyone to agree with me, but i think that if you commit a wicked crime (paedophilia for example) you should pay the ultimate price.
But like i say, just an opinion. ;)

Yeah man, some real deep lyrics there! Say, if, as Andy says, you live like a fucker you’ll die like a motherfucker, does that mean that if you live like a motherfucker you’ll die merely like a fucker?

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
i’m not saying kill first ask questions later, i’m just saying that in the UK if someone enters your property illegally with the intent of harm, you have no leg to stand on legally should you react to the situation. So i’m just saying to Matthew that if his laws are the same as the UKs then save yourself the bother and don’t buy a firearm!
If, however, the laws are similar to that of the US’s then go gun crazy boy!

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
Its all about the criminal in the UK, not the victim. There was a case a couple of years back where a farmer disturbed an intruder and shot him as he ran away, and he was jailed for this. Eventually people power got him released, but the law still stands.
If you’ve got the law on your side i’d say go for it, but if not you’ll get into a whole heap of mess just for some thieving scumbag.

the first album is great, but the only thing i’ve liked since then was “all my life”. They’re too ordinary i think. Dave Grohl seems like a lovely chap though. :D

i knwo, so many great bands that you just don’t get the time to check out. I’ve gotta say though, over the last 2 years or so i’ve really got back into music in a big way. I stopped buying stuff for ages for some reason, just got sidetracked by life i guess, but i’ve bought that much stuff since my rediscovery that i’m still catching up with myself! I’m all alt american mid 90’s rock at the minute, i can’t get enough!

Re: Can you do this? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
i’m with Divers on this, leave me for a few minutes and i can usually figure it out. I find that with some bands, say T? for example, once you’ve figured out a couple of their tunes you kinda get to know what chords and patterns Andy uses. For example once i’d figured out screamger and trigger inside the rest of troublegum came pretty easy. Solos i aint much cop at, mind.

Re: Setting Up guitars in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
what i’ve done in the past is just loosen the neck a bit and slid a plectrum between the neck and the body and tightened the neck back up. Now, i know this is a little unorthodox (!) and i’m not guaranteeing it’ll work, but it might be worth a try. Failing that its just a matter of tweaking the neck and the bridge a little until your happy. Hope that helps!!
