Way overdue that Canadian gig.

Just imagine , a bill with Therapy? and support by Anvil , demigods of metal ! Hell Yeah.
Throw in The Tragically Hip too and we’re onto a winner.

Any promoters in the Vancouver area to throw a little line out ?

Way, waaaaaaaaaaay overdue. Ha ha, T? with Anvil and the Hip? I mean, sure, I’d go to see T? anyway, but I’d probably go early just to see that horrible mess of openers - wonder how well the fans of each band would mix.

Yes, yes, everyone is pissing themselves over Anvil ‘cos of this new documentary, but truth be told, they weren’t ever really THAT good to begin with. Didn’t the interviews with Lemmy & Lars (in the documentary) strike anyone else as a little… forced? Every time I hear the ‘demi-gods of metal’ tag, I giggle. I met the Lips and Robb at the premiere here, and hey, nice enough dudes, but I think they’re taking themselves a little too seriously these days.

As for the Hip - so, they DO have fans elsewhere in the world besides Canada? I always thought they were only big here because Canadians appear to be the only people in the world who celebrate mediocrity. Sorry, just my opinion. Never got the Hip, always thought they sounded like a bar band who made it big in Canada. Go figure.

For my money, T? should tour with Turbonegro. That would be -as the kids say- the shit.

Nice. T? played here once in 1994; three times in 1996. None since.
(Of course, I didn’t live here THEN.)

Surely it can’t be all that awful on your fair island - or has my thread been hijacked by a piss-take mob?

{satire]
Fine, fine. Mock the whingey, bitter, lone Canadian T? fan as you pick-and-choose which five T? gigs to see within an hours’ train ride from your home. Must be nice to live in a country the size of a postage-stamp, with a rail system that actually works. Meanwhile, here in igloo country, a decent gig is 4 days’ journey away by sled dog.
{/satire]

I just looked up the T? 2001 tour diary - it was all east coast US dates. I don’t think they’ve ever played out here. Loooooooooong overdue.

Just for shits’n’giggles - does anyone know where I can find T? tour-date archives going back into the ’90s?

Re: Flogging a dead horse, or, the omnipresent ‘tour north america now, please’ thread. in Therapy? Live

Duly noted, mrs. h. Upon reflection, the original post does come across a tad whingey. That said, Greenland sounds a fair compromise.

I can’t blame T? for ignoring North America, as it sounds like it’s a justifiably bitter pill in their camp. I’ve been a die-hard fan since ‘94, and it’s frustrating for me as a fan, that nobody else around seems to have heard of them, or *get* how brilliant a band they are, especially when they -and this is rarity among bands- improve with every release.

Even more frustrating to realize that it’s unlikely I’ll ever see them live unless I come across the pond myself. But you can make damn sure that when I finally do schedule a trip to ol’ Blighty, I’ll be sure that T? is on tour first.

Re: Mark Lanegan in Other Bands & Artists

Lanegan’s solo albums are vastly underrated. I own Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, I’ll Take Care of You, & Field Songs, all of which are brilliant. I was never a huge Screaming Trees fan, other than owning the ubiquitous Sweet Oblivion record back in those halcyon ‘grunge’ days.

Much prefer Lanegan’s solo work.

That’s ‘cos I’m Canadian - we *get* UK humour. Well, that and the Groucho glasses gave you away.

Flogging a dead horse, or, the omnipresent ‘tour north america now, please’ thread. in Therapy? Live

Well, every time T? puts out a new record and starts touring it, I hold my bated breath and ask the question, ‘Will they finally come across the pond to promote this record?’ I know, I know, the promo situation over here is pitiable, compared to Europa, but damn! Surely SOMEONE at the record co. could bankroll a [small] North American tour for the band? Or is that not the issue? Has North America simply let you down one too many times?

Therapy?, I’ve been a fan since Troublegum and, living in podunk Vancouver BC, I haven’t had a chance to see you gents live yet.

You’re pretty much the last band on my list to see, since everybody else I wanted to see I’ve seen already, or they’re simply not worth seeing anymore. But not Therapy? Your music just gets better and better. So come on already. get over here. Shit, if not Vancouver, hit Seattle/Portland/Los Angeles - I’ll make the drive. I’ll buy the tickets. I’ll buy the merch. I’ll stand up front and dance and scream my head off ‘til I’m hoarse. I swear. And I’ll bring others. We’ll ALL buy shit. I promise.

Your one-off in Toronto a couple years ago was such a tease. I was a mouse-click away from beg/borrow/stealing cross-country airfare, with nowhere to stay in TO, just to catch what eventually amounted to a 45-minute set. Cooler heads -er, lighter wallets- eventually prevailed. But fuck it - it would have been worth it. I was soooo jealous when I saw the pics on the related thread.

Toronto?! You bastards! *not still bitter. I swear. That was years ago.*

Nonetheless, I’ll ask again, as I did last time, and the time before that - will the Crooked Timber tour eventually wend its way into North America in 2010, or am I -and your countless other NA fans- shit out of luck unless we travel to the Old World? Sure would love to know a concrete answer if there are ever (EVER) any (ANY) plans to travel across the pond.

Thanks for everything.
Your humble fan,
Kyle

You lucky bastards! I live in Vancouver, so no dice for me.

Four words:
Faith. No. More. Reunion.

Re: Why is it so difficult to get ‘Crooked Timber’ anywhere outside a city? in General Therapy? Topics

Hey, you think that’s bad? Try living in Canada. Fucking amazon.co.uk have delayed my vinyl copy a month - I won’t see it until end of April!

Posted on Wed, 1 April 2009 at 20:10

Re: Who has “Crooked Timber”? in General Therapy? Topics

Fuck - still pissed at Amazon about the delay of my vinyl. I won’t see it ‘til the end of April, allegedly. Better fucking be some left.

Is there anyone on this side of the pond who has managed to order and receive a copy of the vinyl?

Downloaded a copy of CT shortly after its release on the 23rd, and like every T? record, I have again fallen in love. I’ve been a fan since Troublegum, and at this point, Therapy? could simply record an album of fart-noises and I’d be into it. The band can do no wrong in my eyes. Now, to be fair, I’m still working out the kinks in this disc, as it’s a grower for sure, but I know it’s going to be one of my favorites. And the video is just gorgeous!

Fingers still crossed for those ever-elusive Canadian tour dates… fuck Toronto, come to Vancouver! Hey, a fan can hope, can’t he?

Re: Who has “Crooked Timber”? in General Therapy? Topics

Amazon.co.uk just e-mailed me to tell me that dispatching my vinyl is going to be delayed by a MONTH! What the fuck? Anybody know why the hold-up?

Re: New album “Crooked Timber” 23 March 2009 in General Therapy? Topics

Just pre-ordered the vinyl from Amazon.co.uk (cheapest shipping to Canada). Going to be very difficult to keep myself from attempting to d/l a copy before the LP arrives - so far I haven’t been able to find it. I am so psyched for this record!!!

Re: New album “Crooked Timber” 23 March 2009 in General Therapy? Topics

I cannot wait for “Crooked Timber”, I’m sure it will be one of my favorites for 2009!

Now where are those ever-hopeful North American tour dates, dammit!

And please, this time, not just a one-off, fly-in-to-Toronto-for-a-40-minute-set kinds of shows either! We need a FULL North American tour, and including Vancouver BC Canada, where I’ve been waiting to see T? for a damned long time!!

Come on, Therapy?! Turbonegro’s going to be here in Van in April (their 2nd, almost 3rd time here in less than 18 months and they’re from fucking Norway!), and I personally would KILL thousands to see a Therapy?/Turbo gig.

Even if it was only T?, I’d still kill hundreds to see them in my city.

Title: Great pics, guys!

Very cool - looks like I missed one HELL of a good show, you lucky bastards!

Don’t suppose anyone in the T? camp mentioned the likelihood of a return to Canada anytime soon?

Oh well, maybe I’ll get to see them next time, say, 2018?

Title: WELL?!?!

All you lucky fuckers who got to see the Toronto gig… I want reviews, pictures, video, etc. C’mon, let’s have ‘em!

Hope it was a good one, and seriously wish I could’ve been there!

Therapy?, you better come back soon - hope there’s something in the works! And this time don’t forget about us on the west coast!

TORONTO?!?!?! WTF?!?!?! in Therapy? Live

Title: TORONTO?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGHH!
A bloody one-off in Toronto?! Next week no less!?!?

And here I am in Vancouver, dying to see T? Only 4492km away.

Fookin’ell! Will I ever get to see them?

Re: how long have t? got left? in General Therapy? Topics

Just be thankful that living where you do you may have the opportunity to see them occasionally. I’ve been a T? fan since 1993, but since I live in Canada, and haven’t seen them live yet, chances are I may not. I mean, they haven’t been to the US since 2001, and that was nowhere near my neck of the woods. So be thankful they’re still around and don’t question if /when they won’t be.

WILDHEARTS - Where to begin? in Other Bands & Artists

Title: WILDHEARTS - Where to begin?

Okay, first off, this post is in no way intended to slur or denigrate the Wildhearts, so all you fans just go easy on me, a’ight?

I’m a fan of the ROCK (ie, T?, Turbonegro, Hellacopters, MC5, Motörhead, Stooges, etc, etc, ad nauseum, ad infinitum) and I kept on hearing about the Wildhearts and how Ginger’s band was the greatest rock band since sliced yadda-yadda-yadda. Even Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad is a fan -Dev’s a pretty cool guy- so I thought it would be in my best interests to check ‘em out. I started with “Earth Vs.” as everyone told me that was where to begin, and I was NOT into it. AT ALL. In fact, SO not into it that I’m stumped as to whether to write them off completely, or move on to another record. I mean, is it a UK thing (I live in Canada), or do you just HAVE TO see them live or what?

So your help is appreciated. What Wildhearts records are the primers? Where should I (re)start?

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

ach, you know what?

I feel like a wee bit of a douche for having said anything.

I was just so excited, not only to GET a copy of the new record, but then to hear HOW AMAZING it was, I guess I just got carried away.

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

I support BANDS.

This means I buy ALBUMS.

I guess that makes me old-fashioned.

Yep, even if it’s a shite album by a band I love (obviously that’s not the case here), even if it’s something I could download, even if I get a copy of the promo. When I love a band, I go to bat for them always.

Especially for a band like Therapy? who deserve SO MUCH MORE recognition than they’ve ever gotten in North America.

I will most definitely be BUYING “One Cure Fits All” on April 24th.

I’ve long since stopped holding my breath for a North-American tour; guess I’ll have to come over there if I ever want to see them.

Posted on Fri, 14 April 2006 at 18:33

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

Bastards!

a) WHY does this band not get the recognition from recrd companies that it deserves? Therapy? was/is/will be so much better than most of the dreck out there it’s a crying shame they aren’t filthy-rich.

b) WHY no vinyl? This band was MEANT to be heard on record.

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

Alright, understood, but it was given to me by a well-meaning friend who knows I’m a Therapy? junkie, and simply gave me a promo from the radio station. I’m not going to be one of those c**ts selling it on eBay.

I wasn’t trying to start anything.

Personally, I would prefer to buy it on vinyl. Are there plans to release it as such?

Posted on Fri, 14 April 2006 at 18:17

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

A friend of mine works for CiTR college radio at UBC and handed me a spare promo copy of the disc.

Is that okay with you other message board members or do I have to apologize or something?

And please tell me, as fans, why is your first reaction

“Where did YOU get it?”

instead of

“What did you get out of it?”
