Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists

yeah - he has an inflatable suit at one point doesn’t he?

I guess what I am getting at is that pies have definitely been on Wyndorfs menu of late.

That fat suit he uses in the Space Lord video… well Dave don’t need it anymore…

Re: the wildhearts in Other Bands & Artists

We had Max from Brookside call into a pub that I worked at - he wanted 6 bottles of larger to take away…

We had loads of people from Corrie as well as Paddy from Emerdale and the odd Blackburn player. Not that it impressed me much - I dont watch TV and dont really care for football.

Re: Carcass in Other Bands & Artists

I’d rather have At The Gates - some promoter should be making some phone calls!

Who swapped him for Rick Waller?

Re: VAST in Other Bands & Artists

I was trying to describe them to my brother and the best I could come up with was an Industrial Anathema…

I dont think that sold it very well.

Re: VAST in Other Bands & Artists

I’m really getting into these. Downloaded the discography and have been listening to VAST, Music For The People and Turquoise & Crimson non stop. That first album is great!

Definitely going to be on Amazon come payday!

Re: Favourite Artwork/ Album Cover/ Packaging in Other Bands & Artists

I have some Mars Volta picture disc vinyl that is really smart - shame their music is a bit wanky

Re: Pitchshifter in Other Bands & Artists

I think PSI came out in 2002 or 2003 which was a couple of years after Hybrid Theory… I wasn’t suggesting that Pitchshifter were directly influenced by them, but that album is probably the closest sounding thing I could think of to describe them.

I don’t mind the PSI album (or Linkin Parks album come to think of it - if you block out the shitty lyrics) but it doesn’t stand well against their early work.

Re: Pitchshifter in Other Bands & Artists

Its an achievement to go from sounding totally unique and exiting to generic and a bit boring in under 10 years?

Yeah - you must have a tough paper round!

Re: New Weezer single + Album in Other Bands & Artists

I got about halfway through it and thought it was terrible… I turned it off.

Re: VAST in Other Bands & Artists

I heard them on one of those free Metal Hammer or Kerrang cds years and years ago and kinda liked it but never followed it up.

Since seeing this thread I did a cheeky download and got a few albums - just listened to VAST and Nude now and they are pretty decent.

Re: Pitchshifter in Other Bands & Artists

Infotainment and .com were my favourites.

I know what you mean Brendan. I think the last one I bothered buying was PSI - you listen to that, its not that its a bad album (in its own way), but if you then put Desensitized on and reallise just how much they lost their way…

The early stuff was kinda like Godflesh heavy and to go to a slightly heavier version of Linkin Park in 10 years…

Get em in a full arm lock - then send em for a flight down the stairs into the back alley

Slip some early Emperor into his coffee table rock collection…

Anyone - if you ever pick up a magazine with one of those ‘Britania Music Club’ adverts in - and it mirrors your music collection - do the world a favour and just punch yourself in the face… fucking hard.

Savage Garden was another - I was nearly sick…

Re: Johnny Rotten on Coldplay… in Other Bands & Artists

I once had the luxury of a lift off one of the directors at my last firm - He was an ok bloke - late 30’s or early 40’s.

So I had a browse through his in car cd collection… it went something like: Best of Jamiroquai, Best of UB40, Best of Simply Red,

then the contempary stuff (he was down with the kids)… Keane, Coldplay, Radiohead (oooh - edgy), Lighthouse Family,

If that was my cd collection I’d gladly shoot myself in the face.

Rotten is spot on! Nicky Wire said something along those same lines about Snow Patrol. What is it with dull plodding music? Guitars should be loud and kick ass!
