Re: most sexy instrument around? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

The only thing sexier than a bass… is a thunderbird bass!

Damn I love these http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/bass/ThunderbirdIV.html

if its good enough for Nikki Sixx, its good enough for me!

Re: Are there any NANE tabs doing the rounds? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I’m with these guys - I am a compitent bassist + guitarist but play from memory not ear - I cant listen to something and play it back but i can watch or read something and play it. So fucking what - still managed to play in bands for 3 years and gig on a regular basis.

Chill out - people have to start somewhere.

Re: Fender guitars. in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Ibanez are by far my favorite - I have an Iceman and a GRX 720 - 7 string… I also have a Jackson Concept which is fuckin ace to play.

Re: Preferred Plectrums? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I wonder what happens to stray plectrums… i mean - socks go missing in washing machines, but they aren’t lost - we all know they are stuck to the drum with static…

but plectrums… I must have bought hundreds and they just bloody vanish! strange?

Re: Preferred Plectrums? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

its not one of those ‘sharkfin’ style ones is it? I saw that and thought Wow - got to have one - till i tried to use it and found that they were, infact, useless!

Re: Preferred Plectrums? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Its not the kind of things those guitar shop types sit round chatting about… but it is surprising how peoples tastes vary.

There is a guitar shop nearby that ‘invented’ the round plectrum - a plastic circle with a hole in that looks like a washer… it is supposed to improve your grip but cant ever remember this being an issue for myself.

Re: Preferred Plectrums? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

used to use one of those for bass - but they do about as much good to the strings as Ron Atkinson does to race relations…

Re: Preferred Plectrums? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Use green Dunlop Tortex .88 for guitar and blue Dunlop Tortex 1.0 for bass (or fingers - depends what i’m playing and how lazy i feel)

Re: BASS - the final frontier in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

My current favourets are my Ibanez Soundgear and my Epiphone Thunderbird… I wouldnt consider myself a good player though - used to hold my own in a band but i never pushed any boundaries or anything…

Quote (author unknown):

I tend to use a lot of effects, probably too many .

Looks like the dashboard of some sort of plane!
