It probably costs a fortune to be in a band - Record companies don’t give you money to record albums, they loan you your money to… plus equipment, tours - I would imagine the Cure are financially comfortable but there are very few bands out there that make a great deal of money.

Re: New The Cure in Other Bands & Artists
I don’t think there are many bands that dont want to become sucessfull. Why bother in the first place if you don’t wish to do well?
I think people get confused about ‘selling out’ - I don’t think being successful should make you a so-called sell out or cheapen the music you have made - if a band sacrifices their musical integrity to become sucessful however - then i can understand why people would have a problem.
Lets face it - Therapy? were successful around the time of Troublegum - and I recently read somewhere that the money they made from that record allowed them to go on and write albums like SP-YF and the new one - which might not be as comerically viable - without the pressure to force-write Troublegum 2 just to put food on the table and the kids through college or whatever.
I can see your point about selling yourself to the industry and all that - but you have to look at it in the sense that you probably go to work to get paid, just like I do, and I don’t see why musicians cannot do the same.

Whats wrong with making a living? I’m sure he wasn’t thinking of car comercials when he wrote it so what does it really matter?

Re: Minus in Other Bands & Artists
Just seen them tonight - the show was stolen by their pissed up bassist - he was striding round the stage throwing rock star poses even though he could barely stand, he looked a right cock but it was really funny.
He fell into the drumkit, fell off the side of the stage - fell into the crowd - it then looked like he tried to pick a fight with the drummer, had a bit of a sit down, tried to pick a fight with the crowd and eventually dived into the audience - all as the bemused band played on!
Rock and roll stupidity at its best!

We must have been at more than one gig at the same time then - I have been to every Therapy? Manchester show since the Infernal Love tour - and if they didn’t play Manchester I saw them in Preston…
