Um, not sure what I’m implying actually, but I’ll imply all the same! :)

Hehe - they arrived in different cars but caught the same train!

I’ve met the Chuckle Brothers. Creepy as fuck…

Aw - I was working at Doncaster railway station and this car pulled up and this guy got out who looked just like one of the Chuckle Brothers… then this other car pulled up and the other one got out - and it was the real Chuckle Brothers

I found it a little surreal - but I do find them irritating as fuck though!

I think the only other album i’ve got such as passion for is Helmet - Meantime. Which comes in a close 2nd.

That is truly an awesome album - I really hope they do reform - would love to see em live!

Re: your claim to celebrity musical fame… in Chit-Chat

Oh - I saw Sally Webster at the Trafford Centre once and my brother got his photo taken with Percy (Cant remember last name) on the Granada Studio Tours about 12 years ago!

And Janice Battersby used to always hang round this club in town!

Sad - I hate Coronation Street as well!

Re: Pixies Vs Nirvana in Other Bands & Artists

Nirvana did take what the Pixies started and make it into something great… so I’m gonna go for them, even though I love the Pixies - when i was 12/13 Nirvana were the most important band in the world to me!

Yeah but no booklet with lyrics and nice artwork to feel and to smell (this isn’t meant kinky, don’t you guys like to smell at CD-booklets? Troublegum is my favourite)

I always found the booklet for Down’s album NOLA was quite fragrant…

Weird huh?

Re: destroy israel in Chit-Chat

I dont particularly agree with whats going on in Iraq at the moment - especially after hearing about the 40 dead at the wedding.

Do I deserve to die for what my (uk) government is doing ‘supposedly’ on my behalf? - whether I agree with it or not?

Re: your claim to celebrity musical fame… in Chit-Chat

I once sort of met Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke, but I couldn’t think of anything sensible to say so I just shook his hand and told him I quite liked his new album…

It was a hypothetical - like, do you think that would be a better way of doing things?

No - cause a picture of a car passing some white lines does not give any indication as to the conditions at the time…

Re: Speed Cameras in Chit-Chat

Having worked in a job that meant doing over 500 miles a week - I can safely say that on every motorway in the UK there are thousands of drivers every day that drive over 70 mph safely…

There are always going to be accidents and sure - i’m not stupid enough to think that speed is not sometimes a determining factor - but many of the accidents that happen would occur regardless of if the car was traveling at 70 or 90 mph

I wasn’t suggesting that everyone should drive like a beserker… but there is a very large middle ground that most of the UK seems to drive in. Plus - In Germany where there are no restrictions on speed the roads are statisically no more dangerous than here.

I’m sure if I had been in a situation like Citizen - i would probably feel different.

When I made the statement about driving at what I thought was an appropriate speed - i was not saying i tear round town at 50mph cause i can ‘handle’ a car - i simply meant driving at a sensible speed without constantly watching the speedo on the car…

Re: Speed Cameras in Chit-Chat

But that is not what happenes - this is almost an automated response - a camera catches you, a request is made from the DVLA, an envelope is sent to your house - there is little or no descision making other than when the camera is calibrated at what speed it will trigger to catch you…

A lot of these cameras are placed to make money - fact.

One example of this is near me where a road, as long as i can remember, has been a 40mph zone - one day speed cameras went up and the limit was reduced to 30mph… there is no obligation for any authority to re-signpost that the speedlimit has been reduced. If the 40mph signs are simply removed then the speed limit has been legally altered.

People continued to travel down this road at 40mph as they always had (this is a wide main road in a non residential area). Until the speed camera flashed everyone that went through!

Eventually the local press covered the incident enough that the council had to put signs up informing people of the reduced speed limit - not before these cameras had fleeced loads of people £60 and 3 points a go!

Re: Fyfe? (off topic continued) in Chit-Chat

Fair enough - give him a fucking violin and see what the fuck he does with it…

I think we would all be able to see quite quickly where his classical career will be going!

(I might be in a bad mood today - does it show?)

Re: Speed Cameras in Chit-Chat

I’m going against the grain a little here…

I’m all for speed cameras outside schools and residential area’s where children are crossing, or for instance, on motorways where there are people working close to the road etc…

But (and here’s the but!) There is no element of discretion here - driving at 35 in a 30 zone at 3:30 in the morning on a well lit dual carriageway? would the police issue a ticket? - NO
would a camera? - YES

You are taking the human element out of upholding the law! And I think this is wrong!

Plus I totally disagree with the speed limits that we have on the motorways - they are not relevant to modern driving - the 70mph was introduced years ago - and the technological advances in cars these days mean that travelling along a motorway at 90mph is not particularly dangerous (in my opinion)

And just to make clear - I am not just pissed off because I have been caught speeding - Because I have not - I consider myself a safe driver and I feel I drive at an apropriate speed.

Let the backlash start!

Dunno if they played with Metallica when Graham was in the band. I know they were offered a place on Ozzfest ‘98, then declined and when KoRn pulled out at the last minute they replaced them.

I do know that they supported Metallica at Donington with Fyfe still in the band though. That was when they were really big. I think I even saw some of that footage on MTV.

Edit: I’m probably talking bollocks actually. Ignore this post.

Nah - you are spot on, They played ‘95 with Fife - I have the MTV footage on tape somewhere - they played above White Zombie, Slayer, Slash’s Snakepit, Machine Head, Skid Row… some of those bands were really big at the time as well!

They then stood in for Korn at Ozzfest (Milton Keynes) when the drummer from Korn dropped out to have a baby…

Graham drummed and they were ace!

Was lucky enough to be at both gigs!

Nice one Roxy!

Re: Eurovision Song contest ! in Chit-Chat

How is the entry for each country decided? and are there restrictions on the act that enters? (other than lack of real talent)

I mean - couldn’t we enter Cradle Of Filth just to see what happened one year?
