Great idea for a competition. :D Unfortunately (or perhaps not) I don’t have a digital camera.

If that were true, then I’d be exactly what they think. :(
Den, Dan’s exaggerating: I just wrote on the cover of their second album. Dan’s copy, to be precise. And will he let me forget it?

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
Erm, I didn’t say you were having a competition to prove you were right. If you think something is wrong, you’re allowed to say so. :) as am I. ;)
Lol, ok, well, Your robot would say
Let S = involvement with the rock school format
Let P = ‘what T? are all about’
and let Q = Michael
You’re saying ‘if Q and S Then not-P’
But
I’m saying that ‘Not-P doesn’t follow from Q and S’ There’s simply no inherent inconsistency with having P, Q, AND S, simultaneously. That’s not a matter of ego, it’s simply that i don’t believe that the two are mutually exclusive, which is exactly what I’ve been saying all along.
You say that I’m just saying I’m right and you’re wrong because I said so, but you haven’t shown that I’m wrong to say that two concepts aren’t mutually exclusive.
Putting aside the robot, I understand what you’re saying, and why you believe it, and I think if it’s something you believe, then you’re welcome to say it on the board, and hear other people’s thoughts (I’m not trying to beat you down, by any means). But I also happen to think you’re wrong to take it as given that Michael’s involvement with this show is bad for T?. And I think you’re wrong for the simple reason that I’ve given. :)

Misanthropologist Im not sure if you’re committing to any of your points but I respect your defense of M McK
In that my point is that judging (or taking part in) a competition doesn’t automatically strip you of personal integrity simply as a matter of fact, then yes, I’m committing to my point.
On the other hand:

Would you defend the idea of TV musical talent shows or Rock school Tv if MMcK or T? weren’t involved?
No, but then I’m not actually defending tv talent shows or rock school tv with Michael involved. The issue was whether it somehow affected T?’s integrity to be involved.
effect wrote:
This is a Rock school TV show you cant compare it to a normal school or somebody studying music for themselves it’s primarily a TV show and competition (Popstars/ search for a star/Eurovision)
I can and I will. :p Seriously, I believe my point still holds.

I think you can understand the concept of a Rock school TV show even if you haven’t seen it, (fame academy but with rock) I’m interested to simply know do you think it;s a good idea to support such a concept or is it unfair to question MMcK’S Judgment on this?
Oh, question, by all means. It’s always fair to question something you think is wrong. Just like I have with your posts. ;)

Misanthropologist Personal vision and commercial success are linked in that they’re related to being in a band and can affect each other
I’m not saying they’re not, only that - as you’ve said in the post above this one - that you’re being too black and white about the distinction. :)
Re: the ‘school’ aspect: I can’t comment on this ‘Rock School’, but at my school one of the subjects I was taught was English, but that never once restricted my ability to speak or write about the things that are important to me. I would hope quite the opposite. Would a musician compromise their integrity if they paid for music lessons, or read a ‘how to play’ book? I would say not, though you might disagree.

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
“I’m saying that personal vision is more important than commercial success”
And breathing in and out is more important than posting on the WoM, I can still do both. Why? because tehy’re not mutually exclusive.
Entering a competition doesn’t actually mean you want to win (the runners up on popidol/xfactor etc still get seen), but even granting that you do, if you have that artistic vision that you’re talking about, you should believe that you’ll win based on that. It may not be true, but that’s neither here nor there. It’s perfectly possible to enter a competition and win or lose based on your own artistic merits.
All of which ignores the point that Michael (and T?) haven’t entered any competitions anyway.

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
Effect, you’re suggesting that artistic vision and making an effort to get your music heard are mutually exclusive. They’re not. Further, if a musicians’ personal vision can’t survive the scrutiny of a panel of judges, I’d say it wasn’t much of a vision in the first place.

Re: No its not called Screamanger in General Therapy? Topics
I’ve seen it called ‘Screamanger’ on a tab site. Then again, I’ve also seen it called ‘Screamager Turn’ on a tab site. I couldn’t figure it out, until I realised that Troublegum has a sticker on the front saying ‘Includes Screamager Turn and Nowhere.’ That, boys and girls, is why we need punctuation… But frankly, if they can’t even get the title right, who’d trust them to do a good job of tabbing it?
