Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

Could be, but being the computernerd that I am, I don’t know it.

Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

it has finally happened. they planted a websense filter on the server, and i can no longer open the WoM at work. This sucks bigtime, but I guess I can understand why they do it. We also had the “great” news that our offices are moving out of brussels, which means an extra 80km for me per day. We’ll see how long I can do that.
Now I’m at home preparing a paper I have to do for music class. I’m never getting it ready in time, and I have a piano exam in 2 weeks and I still can’t play all the pieces. Can you feel the stress :-)

Re: Cycling..!! who is into it?? in Chit-Chat

@divers: ok, but do you use it?

I cannot stand watching cycling on the tv. those commentators just go on and on and on… I do like Mart Smeets as a commentator (on dutch tv) but it’s just impossible to keep saying interesting stuff for 4 hours.

Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

we had the same at our managementdays last week. The 2 ladies from controlling were completely wasted. We had a good laugh about it. As long as nobody got hurt and you kept all your clothes on, you will be fine.

Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

remember my idiot neighbour that wants to sell his new house? He put up an add on this real estate website and he specifically said : no real estate agents please. I came across this today :
house for sale

The original asking price (without real estate agent) : 459.00€ (incl. VAT)
now : 395.000€ excl. VAT

So it might look like the price has come down, but deary me, it’s gone up with 15.000€!!! So innocent buyers would try to negociate a better price of let’s say 10.000€ less, and think they had a good deal, but they would still be paying 5.000€ more than before. Unbelievable

Ah well, as long as this means they will be out sooner, it’s worth it :-)

Re: Incredible Fakes/Hoaxes in Chit-Chat

Over a year ago, a few months before the last elections in belgium, the RTBF (state TV for the french speaking part of belgium) did a news show pretending belgium had split up (flemish part >< french part). In the beginning of the news, it wasn’t stated that this was just an illustration of what could happen, and that it wasn’t true. There were a lot of panic phonecalls to the TV station, and to the police, really an overall panic in the walloons (sp?).

Re: Oasis vs. Radiohead in Other Bands & Artists

we could have this same conversation about art, or even about wine. like you said: you like what you like, and that should be respected.

It’s indeed subjective
I totally agree. Nobody has the right to tell me I have bad taste in music, because I like what I like and I don’t give a rats ass about what others think about that. Just to annoy some people around here a bit more, here’s a list of the bands/entertainers that are suposedly “bad” but whose tunes I like:

My chemical romance (love the pompousness of the songs), Robbie Williams (because he’s pretty :)), Rihanna, panic at the disco

now the bands that I think are shit:
U2, radiohead, Oasis, coldplay, the Stones

:)

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

I’m convinced they will come back, probably a festivalshow, and if not I already offered a location for their revenge gig ;), my garden is quite big, and it has a natural stage :), so it really is the perfect option

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

Dulli was suffering from dehydration and high bloodpresure. You could tell he was not well at all. The songs were too slow, he was sweating a lot more than usual, he was drinking water all the time, and he had a very grey colour. When I saw them in amsterdam i had the same experience as you, they were amazing, but last friday was just bad. But what could you expect when the frontman is strugeling…

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

Believe me Rainer, the show was not good. It wasn’t even comparable to what we saw in amsterdam. I was very dissapointed afterwards, but after reading the blog on their myspace today, i’m surprised he even made it to 9 songs. Thank go, all is fine now.

So I gave your amaretto sugars to a friend. maybe next time :)

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

the gutter twins in brussels. The show was NOT GOOD, songs were played too slow, and it only lasted about 9 songs. There had to be something wrong and afterwards we found out that Mr. Dulli was rushed to hospital after leaving the stage. A refief that he is well now, so they can come back to brussels and make up for it.

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat

you’re going to amsterdam again!!! You really like it there don’t you :). why don’t you come to brussels for a change? You can drink for much lower prices here, and we could have some fun

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

Re: Alcohol - I wanna give up in Chit-Chat

I recently went to a seminar about the workings of the brain. It could be very intersting for you to read up on how that part of your brain that controls habits and anxiety really works. That way you can try to understand why you do it, and knowing why you do something is really the first step. I’m not talking about the social reasons (trauma etc.), but the neurological ones.

I have a father with a mental disorder (obsessive behaviour and panic attacks). he has been in and out of psychiatric clinics for more than 3 years now (he’s back in one now), and I never quite understood why nothing worked with him. Thanks to this seminar, i know what goes on in his brain, and i was able to explain it to my mother why he behaved like that. It was like a weight being lift off our shoulders because the big question WHY is answered now. And also the fact that it had nothing to do with her made her cope with it in a better way.

I have a whole list of recommended reading, all scientific ones (no carma, hippie bull shit). PM me if you would like to have it.
