Re: Tattoos in Chit-Chat

belgian media are not taking her side at all. And it was reported that she really loved it, until her father saw it and starting going off at her that she said she fell asleep and didn’t know it was happening. This could also well be a media stunt because a publicity agency developed a website for “the kimberlizer” (upload yopur picture and you get the stars on your face like hers are) and patented it end of april, long before she had the tattoo. I have my doubts it’s real.
The tattoo guy was really funny, he said he wasn’t going to pay for having the stars removed, but he was willing to give her a discount. She only would have to pay 50€, the price of 3 stars :-D, what a great deal

Aren’t there any parties who stand for political reform?

yes, but they’re too small, and most of them just shout a lot and just resolve to namecalling and mudslining instead of offering a realistic, workable solution. But changing the obligation to vote into a choice to vote is not on the agenda. And I don’t think it’s bad, you also have the possibility to vote blanc or to spoil your ballot.

@gimme: indeed, if you don’t pay the fine, you could end up in jail, but that is always a last resort. We belgians are known for our ” we’ll work something out” abbilities, so it will never come to that

That’s awful. I think people should either vote or spoil their paper but I would have to oppose legislating about it! And how would they know if you voted or not without seeing your ballot paper? It must be an administrative nightmare …

It’s the same in belgium, everybody gets an “invitation” to go vote, you have to bring that and your ID to the votingbooth. You’re name get’s crossed of a list and you get your anonymous ballots. When voting is finished, they check who hasn’t turned up and those people get fined (100€ to 200€). You always have the possibility to defend yourself when you get fined, so if you’re in a horribel car accident, or something that can be prooved, you don’t have to pay. People that are not at home (holiday, working abroak,…) and people that are physically not able to go to the votingbooth can give somebody else to permission to vote for them. You get official documents for that to. But again, you have to prove the reason you’re not going.

I only have an account to follow some bands I like, not to “tweet” anything, because that’s just pointless

it sounds almost like you find out your youth was just a waste of time. that’s a bit worrysome to me. I mean Idon’t want to be 18 again but it was a good time in it’s own right. that feeling is unique, being the oldest and most respected guys at school, getting to talk back to your parents, starting to have some skill with the booze and the broads and still be unaware of any responsability the real life is going to bring. how can you be unsatisfied with that?

no not a waste of time at all. I had a great time but it’s in the past, and I don’t want to go back

Re: most rock’n’roll womble in Chit-Chat

2 weeks ago, I went to a cantus (singing and drinking until you throw up, for the people that don’t know the ritual) from my studentclub. I had a lot of fun, drank a bit (had to drive home), but I just couldn’t get into the conversations with my 19-20 year old clubsisters.
Like you said, their view of life is so narrow (not narrowminded) they can’t seem to see beyond the years they will be in university. I hate to admit it, but when somebody says wisdom comes with age, they’re sure right

I’m an account manager (suits and ties for the men and the ladies)
I have spent the last two weeks number crunching on my desk
the rest of the time I do the laundry, dusting, ironing, cleaning, and play the piano
I go to a fitness club
I don’t like to get drunk so it happens not that often
I don’t smoke
I’m in a stable relationship and I’m really enoying it
I own a romeo and juliet-the musical CD (and I just love singing along to it in the car)
But, I think this will make me win, I drink champagne nearly every week, mostely pink one (that’s even more rock ‘n roll)

To who I should give my adress to sent the award for this month ;)

Let’s see if I’m more rock’n roll
- I still work in the same company, but I’m resposable for a lot more euros now
- I have somebody that does most of the number crunching for me
- I don’t do any laundry nor ironing anymore, but I still clean the house and it brings me great pleasure
- I don’t do sports anymore, and it shows :-)
- I hardly ever get drunk
- I still don’t smoke
- I’m married to the same guy I mentioned in my first post
- I still have the cd but haven’t lisened to it in ages (makes mental note to look for it and put it in the car again)
- at the moment we’re out of champagne, but ones we’ve stocked back up, it will go down in about the same rythm :-)

what can I add to show how un-rock ‘n roll my life is:
- I pay for a mortgage every month (for the next 18 years)
- activities during weekends are mostly planned in advance
- I watch the news on a daily basis

BUT my life has never been better :-) I never ever want to be 18 again, life is so much more fun now
