Re: Bass Equipment in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Ummm… I’ll just slink away and forget that ever happened.

Re: Bass Equipment in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

You did see the design on the inside of that, right? Just BUILD one!

Re: Daisy Rock Guitars in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Just awful playing, looking and sounding. Eugh. Begone!

Re: Acoustic Misery Tab? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Unless the acoustic version’s different (Hey, it might be), that’s a tone sharp.

Re: Help me to buy a guitar… in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

ITs way better than the other options, that’s for sure.

Re: BASS - the final frontier in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Well, I don’t like them. That enough?

Re: Ampeg V4 B in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Not familiar- but it’s an Ampeg- it’s gonna be good.

Re: Gone - Tab in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

The above is, amazingly wrong, but I refuse to correct it, as it is mind-blisteringly simple.

Re: Help me pick a rig in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

You’re right- it’s rubbish.

Re: Cheeap drum machine? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I’d just get a software sequencer and drum machine. Like Reason Adapted… it’s free and sounds OK-ish.

Re: Best Bass Riffs ever! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I thought he changed how he plays songs constantly (on Johnathan Ross he played the intro/verse of Time is Running Out on a keyboard). I geuss he started off using fingers because there’s some tapping at the start of Stockholm, I believe?

Re: Best Bass Riffs ever! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Meh… not Les, but I’d love almost everybody else to sound like Wooten. It’d make Coldplay bearable, at least.

Re: recording vocals in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Red5 (http://www.red5audio.com) have a Valve Condensor on offer for £170. Anyone else VERY interested? Its supposed to stand up to an equivilant Neumann or AKG (but, obviously, different- it has its own sound).

Ah, NON-T? bassriffs…

I’d say anything by Primus, but that’s just the sweaty little bass-playing Les Claypool fanboy inside me talking.

Yeah, any ‘best bass riff’ questions have to exclude Primus, or else (by rights), that’s all there’d be. Bet he could play Hysteria, slapping every note, at twice that speed. Hmm… that sounds like a larf, actually.

Re: recording vocals in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I’ve heard that positioning the mic above the vocalist can cause the vocal chords to open up more for a stronger vocal…

There are no rules in recording- and if there are, then they should be broken.

Like you MUST use a condenser for vocals? prefer my Beta 57, to be honest.

Re: Favourite Tunings? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I’m constantly changing… usually stick to standard, but I mess about a lot. Tuning the open strings to weird chords is cool, and DADGAD is always fun.

Re: Hardest Song to Play in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Singing while playing Screamager… it’s just the ‘but’ in the chorus that knocks me off… now I leave it out.

Re: Hardest Song to Play in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Try singing accellorator and playing the riff… it IS difficult… the strumming is awkward.

No proplem, hope you find something you like. :)

Idlevice, there’s no supposed to about it: if you only like the sounds of new strings then fine, change them, but if you don’t, it’s ok to keep them. The only ‘correct’ way is the way that suits you personally.
I’m just saying, because if there’s any newer players reading, they might think they’re doing it wrong to not be constantly replacing the strings. *shrugs*

Sure, but if you keep dead strings on for too long, it can wreck your intonation. I’ve heard it happen (to someone else).

Re: speakers wanted in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Just for information’s sake, the speakers WORK… but sound like ass. Just needs new ones. I got 2 2x12s, 2x 3x10s and a 150 watt WEM PA amp for £30… I soon found out why. Still good for that price, though. Make-things-louder box is always good to have.

Re: Guitar String Life in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Get Elixers…

Honestly, I’d WANT to change by strings every couple of gigs anyway, you’re supposed to.

Hardest Song to Play in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Title: Hardest Song to Play

By Therapy?, what is it?

Hardest I’ve tried to play is accellerator, I think. Hard to sing and play, at any rate.

Re: OCFA requests in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

That’s F#, G# A# for people who prefer it that way.

And yeah, really easy… that gives me a thread idea.

Re: speakers wanted in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I’ve actually got a spare 2x12 8ohm cab… but it might as well be scrap metal. You’d need to get new speakers anyway, and even then… its covered in some weird oily glue…

Band were jamming and I thought it’d be fun. Played it at a battle of the bands in Larne, but a lead guitar player from another and was playing crazy Malmstein-like solos upside down and put me to shame. Ah well…

Re: SD and SPYF guitar tab requests in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

Play it upside down (with you fretting hand over the top of the fretboard, fingers facing the floor)- tonnes of fun! Stretching to the high E’s the tricky bit.

Re: Isolation Tabs in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

E down to D? Why? The song’s in A…

Am I missing summit?

EDIT:

Oh, you mean like

G————-
D————-
A————-
D-0-2-2-2-

…Don’t think so.

Re: Lonely Cryin’Only in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)

I had just normal tuning and basic power-chords- but I was never very fond of this song, so I didn’t give it much effort.
