Re: Ginger gig in Bristol in Other Bands & Artists
The video (from 4:50) makes it entirely clear what happened at this gig, and Ginger is entirely excused his reaction.
The roadie’s flippin’ hard, isn’t he? I’d have run off stage if that was me!

Re: Suicide Pact tour bootlegs in Therapy? Live
No worries. Nice site. If you’d like a copy of the ‘04 show (or a reseed on Dime) please drop me a pm.
I’m not that often on this site so if any in-stores come up in the London area I would be up for taping them, in which case an email would be handy.

Perhaps recently recorded CD’s are too loud?

Quote (author unknown):
When two sounds follow each other, people tend to be drawn towards the louder sound. This is a physiological effect, but it has always caused problems when musicality meets commercial interests. Radio stations vied with each other from the 1970s on to be the loudest sounds on the dial as listeners tuned across the band.
Now record labels push their engineers to make their CDs sound louder than anyone else’s. While this may make their CDs stand out, the tragedy is that it is the paying listener who is short-changed. The short term impression may be louder is better, but after the second track or so the lack of musical dynamics starts to make things sound similar, and fatigue starts to set in after a while.
Can anyone tell me if The Garage show from last month will be released as a live CD?
Cheers

Re: Last night at the Garage Highbury in Therapy? Live
I enjoyed last night also..my second Therapy? gig (first was supporting The Wildhearts in ‘04 or so).
Vocals a bit low, bit odd as apart from that sound was excellent. I like The Garage now they’ve opened up the roof..always felt a bit claustrophobic in there.
Glad I had my workboots on as a mosher crashed into me and crushed my toes :-)

I just wondered if there is any way of resuming the download after rebooting the system. I got almost half of the visions gig and wanted to resume the dl later. but obviously there’s no ‘resume download’ option or the like.
is it possible at all?
Should be possible. When you start downloading, save the Bit Torrent somewhere you can find it later. When you reconnect just fire up the bit torrent, direct it to the folder where you are saving the files, and it should resume.
In case anyone is interested, I am now torrenting The Wildhearts show from Oxford here:

Re: Oxford Brookes Uni - 5/13/04 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
One thing I should explain about Sharingthegroove - you have to hop on a Torrent early on.
You may have joined a torrent where nobody is ‘seeding’ anymore.
This happens because once people have downloaded the show, they do not keep their ‘window’ open to allow others to download from them.
If you have a look on the Tracker, you can get a status of the Torrent:
http://tracker.sharingthegroove.org/track/stats.php
So long as it is not too old, you can post a request for someone to open a ‘window’ to allow you to download the show.
I hope this helps a little!

Re: Oxford Brookes Uni - 5/13/04 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Thats exactly what should be happening!
When you download a show, you get FLAC ‘shells’ (for want of a better description). These are basically files which ‘fill up’ as you continue to download the show.
These much better documentation on the net, but basically you download random bits of the show, from everyone else that is Torrenting.
You have to wait until the download is complete before decompressing the show.
Whats your download speed? It should also give you an idea of how long is left. This will vary according to how fast your connection is, and how many peers are also torrenting the show.
(If you’re still connected), after a while you’ll notice you also have an upload speed - thats other people sharing the show from you!

Re: Oxford Brookes Uni - 5/13/04 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Bit Torrent is a bit of a steep learning curve, especially if like me you’re over 30.. :)
However it is worth it!
You should have a look at:
http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/
(Audio Bit Torrent forum)
to get some idea of the huge range of audience / soundboard shows out there, for free.
Hint - do a search on your favourite band - Therapy shows are a little bit scarce on there.
If anyone has broadband, and wants to go down this route, I’ll help as much as I can.

Oxford Brookes Uni - 5/13/04 in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Title: Oxford Brookes Uni - 5/13/04
A big hello to everyone here, this is my first proper post.
I made a good sounding recording of Therapy? at Oxford Brookes last Thursday:
1. Intro
2. Meat Abstract
3. Potato Junkie
4. Teathgrinder
5. Screamager
6. Die Laughing
7. If It Kills Me
8. Turn
9. Nowhere
10. Dancin’ With Manson
11. Isolation
12. Rust
13. Instrumental
Please correct me if I got any titles wrong, I’m not so familiar with Therapy? In particular, if anyone has the track title for no. 13 (2 minute instrumental break), please let me know. Or maybe its always played at the end of Rust?
I am intending to Bit Torrent this show on sharingthegroove.org
I expect I’ve lost a few people there, but basically to grab a show (for free) you need:
-Broadband
and a couple of small programs:
-Bit Torrent
http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/
-FLAC
http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=FlacFrontend
To answer a couple of your questions in advance:
Q. Why Bit Torrent and FLAC?
A. Bit Torrent is a way of spreading shows very quickly, for free. It typically takes from 2 to 10 hours to download a show, depending on your connection speed. FLAC is a form of lossless compression, which turns the audio to data (and vice versa), as opposed to mp3, which is lossy.
Q. Why not offer Trades / B&Ps?
A. As a frequent taper, I just don’t have the time anymore. Plus my burner is now very old, and not 100% reliable. If nobody on here is able to grab the show off sharingthegroove, I will do a couple of B&Ps, however I would prefer not to.
Q. Did you record Glitterati/The Wildhearts?
A. No/Yes
I got there too late to see Glitterati (they’ve moved the SU since I was there last!)
I’m hoping to work on The Wildhearts recording next week, although I did have some technical problems with this one. I desperately need a setlist for The Wildhearts show.
Thanks for reading,

Re: Oxford in Therapy? Live
This was my first Therapy? gig and I loved it.
Does anyone have a setlist? This would be of great help to track the recording.
