Neil Cooper Interview in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: Neil Cooper Interview
Those of you who are rhythmically minded might want to check out the July issue of Drummer Magazine. It’s got a paradiddletastic interview with the mighty Neil Cooper who talks about all things drum related.
Also if you’re in a muso frame of mind this month,Total Guitar magazine has a ‘decade by decade’ special on guitar driven tunes where that fine chap James Dean Bradfield from the Manic Street Preachers has included “Knives” as one of his top ten tracks of the Nineties. Good on yer Welsh bloke.

Dudes,
To clarify include the 2 names(as well as first name and surname). No nicknames as this is the BBC and they’re pretty strict about stuff like that, in your email.
NB.If youre not sure who your 2nd ticket would be going to, make up a (BELIEVABLE!) name and include it in your mail. Then whoever comes along just gives their name as that person…lies and deceit ye say?
Look forward to hearing from you…

Re: Scopophobia (DVD & CD Collector’s Edition) in General Therapy? Topics
Title: Scopophobia Re-Release
Folks,
Just so you get our side of the story.
Recently we heard word that a deluxe version of the Scopophobia DVD was available for pre-order online. There had been talk about such a release some time ago but the last we heard from the label was that it had been put on hold.
So you can imagine our surprise when sites started to advertise it with a release date. Anyway after a few phone calls the label have confirmed the DVD will be re-released and is part of Eagle Visions deluxe range.
The only difference is that the new package contains 2 discs, one with the full Scopophobia DVD on it and the other is an CD with the audio of the Belfast concert on it. We should point out there are NO extras or bonus tracks on either the DVD or the audio CD. This in itself means that anyone who has the original DVD package should not feel obliged to buy the second version.
As for the suggestion that we sell just the audio cd at gigs. A great idea but,as the label own those sound recordings, it would be highly illegal for us to sell it. If you want a audio cd of the show you could always find a computer with a good sound card/Soundforge and burn the audio onto a cdr.
Hope that clears some of the confusion up

Re: Were Ozzy & Therapy? really in the studio together for “Iron Man”? in General Therapy? Topics
Title: The Truth
Folks,
We were on tour in Europe and got a phone call from our manager who had been called by Ozzy’s people. The plan, as we heard it,was a tribute album to Black Sabbath and we would do a version of “Iron Man” and Ozzy would do the vocals. Of course we were in 7th heaven, said YES! and the recording date was agreed.
The schedule was a bit tight so we learnt the song on tour and after a show in Helsinki we caught a 6am flight to Metropolis Studios in London to record the music. We sorted out our hired backline and began to run through the track.
Eventually we got a reasonably good version down and caught the last flight back out to our touring party.
Fast forward two months and Andy and I fly to Los Angeles to hook up with Mr Osbourne and finish off the song. The producer is Terry Date who has worked with some of our favourite bands…Pantera,Soundgarden and Helmet amongst others. He’s very cool and we spend the evening doing a few overdubs and Andy sings a cool bit for the middle eight.
Next day Ozzy is due to record his vocals and we hurry down to hang out and meet the legend. Of course traffic is bad and we arrive 30 minutes late. When we walk in we get introduced to Ozzy who is just about to do his vocals. His PA Tony looks after us very well and after the vocals are done we meet up properly. A bit of chat later we get our pictures taken and an autograph before he leaves. Fantastic.
Short but sweet indeed but we did some shows the next year supporting Ozzy in the US and we got treated soooo well. Hats off to Ozzy, Sharon, their kids, Robert, Joe, Mike and all their great crew…it was brilliant and very flattering for us…
So there you have it…the autobiography will have more salacious details but for now that’s the truth…

Turkish Shows Cancelled in Therapy? Live
Title: Turkish Shows Cancelled
Folks, I feel shitty having to tell you this but our Turkish shows next weekend(16th and 17th April) have been cancelled. The reason is due to the Turkish promoter who failed to provide us with guarantees and repeatedly lied about what he had and hadn’t done.Because of this we lost faith in his ability to put on a professional show for the band and most importantly, the people who bought tickets. We’ll be posting a full detailed explanation of what went on later in the week but for now please accept our sincerest apologies and rest assured we are also very disappointed with this turn of events.

Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday greetings especially CAD (i’ll get that jacket in Edinburgh) and rathype, who sounds very sweet despite her weird name (maybe someday I can get those starsweets)…

Re: Martin leaves Therapy? a 3 piece in General Therapy? Topics
Title: There…I said it!
Hello all. Michael McKeegan here…just wanted to clear up a few misconceptions regarding Martin’s departure. Basically what happened was that Neil, Andy and myself found ourselves moving in a different musical direction to Martin. We felt it would be a compromise to continue in a situation where neither we nor Martin were happy and that the best way to realise this was to revert to a trio. As we hinted before, this was the hardest decision we ever had to make, as Martin is a great guy and one of the best musicians around…but we thought we should address the situation now rather than let the creative and personal relationships deteriorate. I know it was a big shock for most people but to be honest the band probably wouldn’t have continued the way it was.
While we’re on the subject I just wanted to say how disappointed I was by the reactions from some of the people on the message boards. To suggest in any fashion that the split was due to MONEY is absolutely absurd and those involved should hang their heads in shame. It was interesting to see that some of the people voicing their theories loudest, are some of the same people who were previously quick to email us demanding guestlist or hard to find releases. However, in this instance, not one of them bothered to contact us direct at the churchofnoise and ask what had happened or how things were. Weak.
Anyway, let’s be positive. I feel any change is good, if initially weird, but to be honest life goes on and I know we have a ton of killer new songs and that Martin will come up with a cool new project. On behalf of Andy, Martin, Neil and myself I’d like to thank all the genuine people who have given us their support and wished us well in the future..we genuinely appreciate it…

Re: BASS - the final frontier in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: THERAPY? basses
Dudes,
Just to let you know. For Troublegum and Infernal Love I used the black Status bass with an Ampeg Svt1 head and an Ampeg 8x10 cabinet. For Semi Detached I used the Sunburst Musicman and a Mesa Boogie 4oo+ through a Mesa Boogie 2x15 cabinet. Suicide Pact was the Sunburst Musicman with the Mesa 400+ head through the Ampeg 8x10, Shameless was the Blue Musicman through a Mesa 400+ and a 2x15 Mesa cabinet.
High Anxiety was the Blue Musicman with various weird heads through a Harke 4 x10 cabinet. In conjunction with all these set ups I normally use a Sans Amp bass driver pedal and Boss Bass Overdrive and Morley Bass wahs for the squally sounds…
Hope you are confused. I am. For the record I NEVER had a Westone Thunder 1a. That is a reference to Andy’s first ever bass guitar but I never dabbled. Aria Pro II when i could afford them!
Other guitars..Status Buzzard, Fender Sunburst Precision and a Sunburst Fender Jazz have all made appearances on record and live…
Hope this clears some of this up..
Rock on low end monsters..

btw: as far as I recall there was one other song recorded for Troublegum but we just tracked an instrumental version and never did any vocals on it. Can’t remember the name but I’ll ask Andy and see if we had a title for it…

Re: vox on UNREQUITED in General Therapy? Topics
Title: backing vocals…
If you mean the “I know that you understand” backing vocal at the end then that is Chris Sheldon singing. He was the producer on Troublegum/Semi Detached and also mixed High Anxiety
Ironically his ex-wife Eileen Rose sang the backing vocals on at the end of Unbeliever.
Page Hamilton played the solo in the middle of Unbeliever and some “textured” chords on the pre chorus as well…
Hope that enlightens you a bit…

Sorry if I offended anyone but my comment “preaching to the converted” was mean’t to be humourous…if anyone ‘got’ the Fred and Barney comment it would be obvious I was joking…
Everyone knows how much TPY? love and respect our fans so it would be a tad churlish for me to start knocking them now. You all have helped us through some bad days and we totally appreciate that.
Personally, i feel playing this Rolling Stones gig will be a good test of the Therapy? band. Playing to people who ‘dislike’ heavy musc will be a big challenge for us.
Sorry again to anyone if i offended them.
btw:as for acting bored at the Amsterdam gig? I think you must have me confused with some other bass player. I had a great time in the MAxx and thought it was a great show. i might have acted ‘bored’ before or after the gig but in no way was i ‘bored’ onstage…

Hello from THERAPY? in General Therapy? Topics
Title: Hello from THERAPY?
Hello All,
Michael Therapy? here. Just wanted to clear up a few things about the new album and the (mis)information going round. Yeah, some of the info on the Spitfire website is wrong but that is mainly due to the fact everyone(band and label) are working to very tight deadlines. The reason song titles are changing is that we re-arranged slightly the album running order and re-titled the song “Drug Run”. As most people know, pretty much every band uses ‘working titles’ until the last minute where lyrical tweaks suggest new, definitive titles. So, the tracklist on the Spitfire site is now correct.
I know that Graham’s name is on the site(Neil is a full time member now) but that’s just an oversight on Spitfires part as is the listing of the ‘secret’ track title…weird to say the least! Anyway, they’re going to change it and you will all have to pretend you don’t know the name of it until you hear it, act surprised and then say “I wonder what the title of this secret track is.” Then you should bombard the band with loads of emails asking what the title is…talking of which. The churchofnoise@hotmail.com account is no longer active BUT after April 1st we can be contacted at churchofnoise@therapyquestionmark.co.uk And please no more “When will you be playing my local town?” questions. As we always say as soon as shows are confirmed you will be notified either via the press or the site. And talking of which Rene has been working his Dutch balls off to get a new look THERAPY? site up for early April so you can all look forward to that as there’ll be some cool stuf on that.
I think they’ll be a double A-side promo single to start with “If It Kills Me/Rust” and if the reaction to that is good(phone/mail your local station to request it) then it’ll be released with “Mama You Can Call The Ambulance Now” as an extra track. We’ll also be shooting a video for “If It Kills Me” so be sure to request that on your favourite TV station…
Also, we’re all pleased that you like the look of the new album. The cover(and rest of the packaging) is really excellent and the band feel Eagle/Spitfire have done a really good job and are well into the new album. Oh, i suppose I should talk about the music…it rocks, it’s melodic, it’s inventive, great guitar, mega druma and lots of cool vocals. It’s well produced (heavy as fuck) and mixed to perfection…as you might have gathered we love it and pretty much anyone who’s heard it has agreed..”a return to form” whatever that means…
Alright, thats all for now.just want to thank you for reading..Rene and Sarah(welcome aboard) for spreading the word and we will see all you good people soon on tour…
