Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Glasvegas and The Gutter Twins. Ordinarily Glasvegas would have my vote for best debut in the last 5 years but that’s discounting Arctic Monkeys which established British rock as still amongst the best in the world, bar none. Gutter Twins? Awesome for laying in the middle of the carpet with your headphones on, staring at the ceiling and just going with it…

Re: New Manics Album Info in Other Bands & Artists
Been reading some of the slightly more cynical comments on this thread with interest. Here’s my two penneth for what it’s worth: Why would ‘comfortable millionaires’ want to cash in on ANYTHING? The last thing the three of them need is more money. I see it more as them just wanting to keep connected to Richie in some way. I think its easy to forget that above everything else they were mates since being kids and they probably just miss him loads. My father died 7 years ago and I can promise you that if I had some words of his written down somewhere and I could write music as beautifully as James can then you’d better believe that I’d want to use them. I have so little of my father left and I miss him so much every single day. If there was any way on God’s green earth that I keep keep part of him - ANY part of him alive - then I would do it without hesitation. I think it’s a very touching idea to use Richie’s lyrics and The Manics are now at a point where money is only a secondary consideration, so perhaps their only motivation is to try to remember their friend in a fitting way.
p.s. Send Away The Tigers is AMAZING and you’ve probably guessed by now that there’s not much that The Manics can do wrong in my eyes!!

Re: Thrash Recommendations in Other Bands & Artists
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve got most Megadeth albums actually but forgot to mention those! Just checking out the Testament video to ‘Souls of Black’ on Youtube. Although the start is a bit ‘Bad News’ with them walking towards the camera like that (?!) the song’s excellent. Anthrax seem really worth checking out as well so thanks again. I’ve somehow let a lot of this stuff pass me by and now everybody does the ‘death growl’ and I just can’t get into it. Thank God T? have resisted and actually sing!

Thrash Recommendations in Other Bands & Artists
Can anyone recommend a good thrash band who don’t do that annoying ‘growly shouty’ thing where you can’t here a bloody word anyone’s saying? I’ve tried valiantly to get into Trivium and the music is really fantastic, just seems that it’s spoilt by the periodic ‘growly shouty’ which they seem to stick in songs at fairly random intervals! Something with Trivium’s musicianship and Metallica’s vocals would be great! In fact, my dream thrash band would be something like: Bonn Scott on vocals (leftfield I know but how good would that be!?), Danny Carey (Tool) on drums (the best rock percussionist in 30 years), James Hetfield on rhythm guitar (riffage master par excellance), MikeHell on bass and someone like Matt Heafy or Dimebag on guitar. But I’m open to offers and any suggestions welcome!

Re: What song should T? cover? in General Therapy? Topics
How about something a bit left-field like ‘Californication’ or ‘It’s The End Of The World As We Know It’?

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
Well I have only heard ‘The Day That Never Comes’ so far and I love the song structure and musical ideas (especially J.H.’s vocals and the last section). Maybe it’s just me, but the production seems crap! It keeps clipping and peaking out (via an iTunes download) and the recording level seems way too high, sometimes distorting in the bass tones. Has anyone else noticed anything on the other songs and is this an iTunes issue or a production issue at source? God forbid if the rest of the album’s like that!

Re: What’s EveryOne watching in Chit-Chat
Might sound a bit cheesy, but I watched Scopophobia again over the weekend - absolutely awesome! I just think they all seemed so up for that gig, whether it was because it was Belfast or that it was being filmed I don’t know, but a fantstic energy and sound as always from the boys. I also watched the DVD of the Metallica rehearsal that came with ‘St Anger’. I know many people think the album’s crap (I think it’s excellent but I’m in a minority of one!) but the DVD is fantastic and showns them all playing at full pelt and as a really tight unit, which bearing in mind the trials and tribulations of getting the album finished is no mean feat!

Have They Gone And Done It? in General Therapy? Topics
Title: Have They Gone And Done It?
I’ve been a regular watcher of the T? website for the last two or three years and this seems to be the longest period I’ve ever known when there’s been no update from the band and no content placed on the site. I’m not sure, but all this seems to point to a slowing down of T? activity in general. This summer in particular they don’t seem to have done many gigs/festivals/site updates/interviews. Unless someone knows something to the contrary, does anyone else think there may be something more ominous to all this than just a break? Have they split or what?

Kick Out The Jams in General Therapy? Topics
Title: Kick Out The Jams
Just come across a really cool video on Youtube that I didn’t know was out there. It’s from the N.I. programme called ‘Kick Out The Jams’ and it’s got Andy and Mikehell playing some acoustic stuff (mainly from OCFA) and Andy being interviewed. It’s from February this year I think. It’s probably been mentioned on here before but I haven’t come across it. Just put in ‘Kick Out The Jams Therapy?’
Enjoy!

‘Turn’ video in General Therapy? Topics
Title: ‘Turn’ video
My first message on here although I’ve been lurking for some months now. Can’t wait for the new album!
My introduction to T? came when I saw the ‘Turn’ video in 1993 which blew me away. I’ve never seen it since - does anyone know why it wasn’t included on Scopophobia?
Oz -x-
‘I still don’t know cos no-one ever explains…’
p.s. - I saw a thread some weeks back on tattoos. If I posted a picture of my back-piece would someone let me know if the T? logo would go with it underneath?
Ta!
