Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

god damned, too many gigs, not so much time and money.

I saw Clutch last Tuesday in Athens @ Gagarin 205 with Lucky Funeral as support. Even though that the band decided not to play major hits (The Regulator, Ghosts), the set consisted of tracks that satisfied every single spectator.

A big surprise was Lucky Funeral, a greek band which is playing death/grind stoner! First time i heard such combination and i was blown off.

Cheers

Re: What’s everybody reading in Chit-Chat

I just started getting lost to the genious world of Henning Mankell. Even though it’s crime stories series and i’m not the biggest fun, the atmosphere that’s been created from the writer, is pretty dark and curious with a lot of potential in it!

there’s a lot of published books already, a full catalogue actually. After research to the internet, i also saw that there are two TV series. One is published from the BBC, and the second one is a Swedish production. I know from now that the forthcoming nights will be occupied from both series.

by the way, therapy? is playing this weekend in Athens. 6 more days to go and then…Up with the sickness mothertrunkers

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

Last Saturday The Astronauts live in Athens. Pretty loud, i was shocked that there was only one member from the original line-up. The other band members were like 18 years old.too young i’d say, full of energy but the unlucky thing is that all of their songs were played differently than the original ones.
This Saturday is the big gig, Paradise Lost playing draconian times.

Re: Weirdest place you’ve found something Therapy? in General Therapy? Topics

Year 1998 or 1999. This happened during my summer vacation. I stayed up all night and I was chilling out smoking and relaxing. I was with my girlfriend and we were desperately seeking for some music to hear from any kind of source. We were staying in my summerhouse and we managed to found an old radio device. It was so old that you could hardly hear anything. Now comes the weirdest part. I have to tell you that here in Greece, T? are not receiving radio plays neither can be heard on bars/clubs. So we were tuning this radio and we couldn’t hear anything at all. Not even major radio stations. We were tired of searching and we said to each other that we wouldn’t have any luck. So we said to close our eyes just for fun and afterwards we would turn the transmitter and stopped it in pure luck. When i did that, the radio needle stopped in a weird station that we had never heard before. Suddenly after 30 seconds we heard the first notes of Unbeliever rocking the place. We looked straight in the eyes and without any further notice, we started headbanging like hell. Now was it weird or not?

Re: shameless, any good? in General Therapy? Topics

shameless is a great rocking disc.
I think that the first 5 songs is the best sequence of tracks that T? could write.

Now the OCFA is a twisted disc, half of the tracks are great and half of the others are average.
Personally is a favourite one, as it is connected with too many personal feelings.

It’s a personal choice or taste. I think that you dont have to listen to anybody, just go and buy it and decide by yourself

It has got that underground feeling when Therapy? first start - like a complete circle now. All the label problems behind, like they return their home once again. Also today is mp3 day; labels don’t want to spent lot of money to cover arts, sleeves and most importantly bands. Just a minority can hire Corbijn kind of artist today. Also i don’t think it’s the worse one. One cure fits that space for me. Also (İf you delete the great band photo inside) Shameless feels strange and lonely.

yes i understand what you mean.you are talking about the logo and maybe all the written letters…I really loved that feeling of undergound, im not talking about the band of course but for the label and all the money that they were willling to spend i guess. especially the printed cd’s suck, such poor quality.

Re: We’re Here Till The End in General Therapy? Topics

Hello dudes.

I received yesterday the new release of this almighty band.
I just wanted to ask everyone the following question: I noticed that the release is on Blast Records with catalogue number 001, probably a branch of Global Music.
But i i couldn’t help noticing, that all the artwork is so simple. Even the printwork on the upside of the cds, seems so embarrasing and not so well color analysed.
I dont think that its my copy only. I got the feeling that this is the worst artwork that the band ever had and the cheapest one.

If you feel like to, you can also share your thoughts, or provide some feedback also about your copies.

Cheers

Re: Your Ultimate Gig Line-Up in Chit-Chat

Nice board this one.

A dream team line up consisted of active bands would be.

Paradise Lost, Machine Head, Tool,A Perfect Circle, Slayer,Kyuss , Killing Joke,RHCP, Einsturzende Neubauten,Porcupine Tree, The Cure and T? of course ( and not in order of appearance). The names are too many, i think it would be at least 2 days festival!

If i had to speak about bands that are not active anymore, i would also add Black Sabbath, Pantera,Van Der Graaf Generator (although Pete Hammill is alive and kicking), Pink (Punk) Floyd.

Wow, a lot of bands.

Re: Video Games in Chit-Chat

Not too much available time for video games. But if i manage to find any, especially late at nights, a stable choice would be Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, Football Manager 2011 (i’m a football maniac) Sherlock Holmes series, new Medal Of Honor.

btw global is awful at packaging, my cd came with a totally smashed case to the point where even the booklet got mangled. but i enjoyed the album, of course not all songs sound great but it really captures the live feeling. i’m glad they didn’t do overdubs like every other band does nowadays, or even if they did i didn’t notice ;)

thank you for the info. i’ve ordered some other cd’s also from global(including some T?), but i have never faced such problem to be honest.maybe you were unlucky with that. i’m still waiting, no sign of the cd yet, but where i live is hard to reach me :) as we dont even have a permament postman. And this area is supposed to be near the centre of Athens. What can you say? Greek rules in everything!

Re: We’re Here Till The End in General Therapy? Topics

I ordered this cd, through the online system of Global Music. Through they sent me that the item was dispatched on 29th of October, i still haven’t received the item. Strange though. I will be waiting some days still because the greek postal offices are so unreliable.
I hope that its worth the time that i’m waiting for this god damned cd!

Re: Kyuss in Other Bands & Artists

I’m paying my respects to this giant band.
Although i saw Garcia plays Kyuss this year, and what a funfuckinfantastic show it was, now it’s time to see the rest of the Kyuss on stage. Such a historic time. I’d prefer Homme to join also this re union, but it’s hard for this thing to happen. But i guess, it will be great to eyewitness this superband all together again. Stone(d)r to death!
VIVA KYUSS.

Re: Quitting Smoking in Chit-Chat

Hello, dude, i will give you my story.
After i tried several times to quit smoking, i woke up one day and i said to myself. “That’s it. Im quitting”. So i believe that the basic thing is the power of your will. If you stick up to this idea and try to maintain your integrity, this is the first step.
I didn’t also use any patches or some stupid electric cigarettes, or any other misleading supplements. One friend of mine then, told me that i should try the following: I would take a cigarette, i would sink it in a bottle of whisky, i would let it dry to the sun for days, and after that i would try to smoke it. And i did it! And the result was that i puked like hell for half a day. And after that, i couldn’t stand either the smoke! That was a genious method. It may sound ridiculous or stupid, but it worked for me!
Those symptoms that you got, are very usual after you quit smoking. They may continue to appear for more than a month. You should get excersised as much as you can, or even having sex instead. I didnt exercise a lot but im having a lot aof sex actually with my girlfriend (poor girl!) and this way helped me a lot with my breathing system. I would actually trying to hold and catch my breath afterwards, so there was some kind of restoration with my breath system.
Regarding the “triggers (inside!)”, here in Athens, we are having a lot of rosaries if you know what im talking about. Just a quick search at the google pics and you will know what im talking about. So i used a lot of rosaries, i even got them with me to everywhere i went, so i was having something in my hands and fingers instead of cigies. That helped me a lot.
That’s all for now. If you need anything else, you are welcomed to ask for it.
Cheers

Re: Monster Magnet in Other Bands & Artists

I think that up to 1998’s Powertrip, the band was leading the so called stoner movement. Indeed that is true.

Afterwards all the albums are been average rated. I assume that it has to do with Wyndorf’s addictions.
Saw them twice in Greece, the first time they ever played back in 1999 as support band to Metallica, and the second time was last year @ Rockwave Festival as co headliners. Both of the times were great!

Re: Tony Blair - A Journey in Chit-Chat

As Andy said on the scopophobia dvd, just before the “Not in any name” song:

“Fuck Tony Blair”

At my place, he is one of the most hated persons, along with his best mate, George W. Bush.

Cheers Tony & George for making peace with the rest of the world.
