Re: Record Industry vs Promo copies and Ebay Traders in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I think the record companies are clutching at straws here. I can’t see how htey have any legal basis for hteir arguments.
Maybe they are worried that promo copies are sold on eBay prior to release and that’s how albums are getting leaked online.. but I think the vast majority of promo discs sold will be old ones sold to fans that are avid collectors.
Record companies need to realise that the old way of doing things - getting promo copies out there, creating a buzz, getting the record on the radio weeks before release - is dying a death and fans are getting back to word-of-mouth. If the record labels want to make sure enough people are buying their goods, they want to stop pointing the finger and start seriously looking at the quality of what they are selling - right from the standard of the artists and material down to ensuring that packaging (and RE-packaging, remixing, remastering etc ) is of a suitably high standard.

No no no I hate box sets… You end up wading through a whole ton of stuff you already bought years ago just to get to a few rare/ unreleased tracks - and usually there’s a reason why they stayed in the can!
Best thing T? can do is release the demo/ rare stuff separately - like the Music From A Broke Tranny thing.

Re: What’s the most you’ve paid for a Therapy? item? in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
The most I have ever paid is probably about £13 for a CD, back in the days when CD’s cost that much.
I have a few CD singles and the odd cassette single from years back, but I have never bought anything expensive or rare to do with Therapy?
I tend to get into a band and buy all of their stuff but I cannot see the point of buying promos which have the same songs on but no artwork, or a radio edit with the swearing taken out or foreign releases with a slightly different hue to the cover or anything like that.
So long as I can get my hands on all the music, I am happy. Hence I will often by CD singles to get the B sides.

Re: digipacks & jewel cases in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I think it’s cos the accountants can watch the “digits” rack up in their bank when they charge the same for a piece of cardboard as for a proper case.
Cardboard sleeves look great the day you buy them but if you actually go to the trouble of listening to your CDs once in a while they soon get racked off.
Jewel cases all the way baby.. (and don’t start, you vinyl junkies out there - we had the same problem with them tatty old LP sleeves back in the day. AND I never managed to get the Cadbury’s Creme Egg stain off the front of my copy of The Jam - The Gift :( )

Nurse/ Troublegum/ Infernal Love on CASSETTE in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
After finally upgrading to new-fangled Compact Discs for these three titles, I now have NURSE, TROUBLEGUM & INFERNAL LOVE on cassette for sale.
Can’t imagine there’ll be a huge demand for these but if anyone wants them give me a shout, I’m not looking to make any money, just find a loving home for them.
They are of course used but in reasonable nick.

Re: Stay Happy and Gimme Back My Brain promo for trade/sale in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
Stay Happy was always one of my faves from the album, but I usually get the feeling that other fans don’t rate it so highly - so it’s odd to me to think that it was used as a promo single

Re: meat abstract 7” - reluctant sale in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
I love Therapy? but I never see the point in collecting vinyl or promos or anything like that. Hard-to-find tracks, yes, hard-to-play formats, nah.

Re: Want to buy a car? in Therapy? Buy, Sell & Trade
When I saw who started the thread, I expected it to be a car with THERAPY? painted on one side and MOTORHEAD - LEMMY IS GOD on the other! :D
(shame, though cos I need a new car, and THAT would have been my kind of car!)
