Re: What’s everyone NOT watching? in Chit-Chat

Dermot’s not on it this year, is he…?

Dunno, cos I’ve not watched it but I’m fairly sure he’s been replaced by some sub-Never-Mind-The-Buzzcocks-Guest-Presenter types

Re: What’s everyone NOT watching? in Chit-Chat

Whilst I have caught some of BIg Brother, I have managed to not watch BBLB with 100% success so far this year.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Judging by Some Kind of Monster (i.e. the film not the song) I think the problem is they don’t KNOW what album they want to make. They want to get away from the Thrash of their early years, and they are hung up about not doing anything that is too stereotypically “Metallica”…but they don’t have an alternative solution.

Re: Why do Therapy? ignore their pop side these days? in General Therapy? Topics

You know when a couple is expecting a baby and someone asks if they want a boy or a girl and the reply is “I don’t care, as long as they’re healthy”..? Well that’s how I feel about the next Therapy? album.

Re: General Happy Birthday Topic! in Chit-Chat

Happy Birthday Colin.

I hope you have many amusing greetings cards, with baffling set-up lines on the front whose real meanings become clear with the witty denouement printed inside.

I agree with mrs h actually, I have a hell of a lot of respect for Lydon and he isn’t (just) the loudmouth he is painted as.

Re: Down live - any good? in Other Bands & Artists

This is what them funny talking people off the telly would call a “no brainer”.

Fucking loved them when I saw them - Best band around at the moment bar none.

See them, definitely.

Re: Johnny Rotten on Coldplay… in Other Bands & Artists

Well I disagree that Lydon’s “done nothing since 1977” (PiL? Come on, surely “Rise” has a place in everyone’s heart…?) but yeah, what you said.

Coldplay have done the odd vaguely likeable song, but they leave me with that feeling you get when you bump into someone you haven’t seen for ages and you say “Yeah, call me, we’ll meet up for a drink!” and as they walk away you think “God, I hope they don’t ring me..What would we talk about? I’m not even sure I like them anyway…”
You feel like you should be nice to them…but you can’t really actually be fucked with it.

Re: Why do Therapy? ignore their pop side these days? in General Therapy? Topics

I think there’s probably very little by way of conscious thought that goes into whether an album will be “poppy” or not…I think whatever comes out in the sessions comes out, simple as that.

That said, I imagine writing pop-punk type songs could become quite tiresome over time. Throwing different styles into the mix is bound to be more rewarding for the band. And for the fans for that matter.

Re: Lost… in Chit-Chat

It will end like that, don’t forget we can take our magical move-about-y island back in time using our going-back-in-time machine back to the point where Brendan and Mikey live happily ever after, even though, and this is where it gets complicated, it isn’t going to have not yet have happened yet in the future. Yet.

No it hasn’t, this is how it was always going to end up.

Re: What’s everyone NOT watching? in Chit-Chat

Any more of Euro 2008. Every match I have seen so far has been so dull that even the England team could have livened it up.

Also still not watching Lost, though it sounds great with its magical moving fantasy island and pre-agreed-but-made-up-as-they-go-along story arc.

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists

ZZ Top - Live From Texas DVD

Very much enjoying it, good stuff. Mind you, the fact that Frank Beard now has a goatee beard kind of destroys years of him being “the only one in ZZ Top WITHOUT a beard”. If I were Gibbons and Hill I’d lynch the fucker.

Re: Turning the Significant Other into a T? Fan in Chit-Chat

Why not take the webgig setlist as the line up for the CD? After all, by definition it is the most popular Therapy? songs as chosen by a large cross-section of die-hard fans and fair-weather-fans alike.

Re: General Celebration and Announcement Topic in Chit-Chat

Talking of subtle hints, my wife and I get so many “subtle” hints that the time may be right for us to start procreating..you know the kind of subtle that says things like “You wanna hurry up and start dropping a few sprogs, don’t you? You ay getting any younger..”
(if ever there was a pointless phrase, the “aren’t getting any younger” has to rank 10 ten at least)

So anyway I just got a text off my wife saying, and I quote:
“you’ll all be pleased to know after the constant “have a baby remarks” ove the weekend, I has a baby in a 3 hour delivery, it was a girl with lots of brown hair, I called her Cloe and I keep forgetting where I’d left her! Luckily I woke up in a cold sweat so THANKS for that!”

We have this rule now whereby we deliberately add an extra month onto when we start trying for every comment we get.

At present, I am having my first child no sooner than 2053. I may be slightly too old for a kick about round the park by then. Mind, I believe you aren’t allowed to kick kids round the park any more anyway. My restraining order says something of the kind, anyway…

very specific wishes there, mrs h. You’ll never win Miss World with that lot, can’t you just cross your fingers and ask for “world peace” like everyone else…?

Re: Gracious me… in Chit-Chat

I think they need the light there to enable them to make suicide bomb-rucksacks and so they don’t spill all that expensive liquid explosive when they are filling up their empty Panda Pop bottles, pre-flight.

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat

I saw Primus years ago, supporting…erm…*decides not to say “Rush” after all* …supporting a REALLY COOL BAND COS I AM DEAD COOL LIKE..and I thought they were wank, to be honest but that probably means they were brilliant. There’s no higher ringing endorsement of a band than “Well..Dennis thinks they’re wank…” :D

Mind, I’m surprised that they’re even still going..Isn’t the lead fella, whassisname, bass-slapperist…oh fuck wait, it’s on the tip of me..Les Claypool, that’s the fella, isn’t he one of those workaholic Mike Patton/ Phil Anselmo types that’s always in ten bands at the same time with various projects all over the shop..?
