Re: Strange Graham thing on Wikipedia in General Therapy? Topics
Whatever it is, it’s pretty poor taste to use Wikipedia for your little feud/joke. It’s not the place for opinions. Or maybe someone thinks that they’re internet-cool if they publically ‘act’ a fool.
I’m not so sure if you can piggyback to success on this, but whatever works I guess..

Re: RIP Keith Baxter in General Therapy? Topics
That’s a pretty collection of thoughts and images - I loved the live video, good quality and it reveals a good light of Keith as a performer and musician. Judging from the article, he’s a great man to be and work with as well.
*Listens to the demos with a grin.*

Re: new label is demolition records !!! in General Therapy? Topics
I think some of you worry too much. This label move only grants more possibilities, it does not narrow the possibilities at all. The label doesn’t control the sound as much as grant additional producers to contact, places to tour and so on. In short, the palette increases, the painters don’t change. Have a little faith.

The boss even used a double-exclamation mark sentence. Must be a real deal then. ; )
Seriously, this is obviously a good thing. Good on you, Therapy?!

Re: Best kickstart song in General Therapy? Topics
Goodness. Screaming children/infants/whatevers. I’m glad I’m an isolated piece of barely-existance.
Polar Bear and Teethgrinder seem good choices too. Today on my early morning I have some more time and opted for the Breeders.

Best kickstart song in General Therapy? Topics
Imagine; you’ve slept for three hours and are awoken by an alarmclock with the sound of Satan screeching repeatedly and mercilessly. You have to leave for slavery/laboury in twenty minutes. What Therapy? song would you use to kickstart your body and mind?
Personally I’m fond of both Dance and Knives for this occasion. I’m curious what sort of weapons are chosen.

Re: RIP Keith Baxter in General Therapy? Topics
This is a big loss. I’ve only known him from his subbing in Therapy?, but there he did an admirably great job. He just seemed like such a natural musician to me.

Re: New Label? in General Therapy? Topics
I do think that this new label shift, when coinciding with a great new album will do notable things.. one can’t be sure exactly what it’ll be, but at the least it’ll be easier on the band’s financial factors. And shows at more diverse locations, releases all over the world, big promotions - that sort of stuff - will be more likely. But whatever little recordlabel graphic will be printed on the album, I’ll be buying it - here’s hoping to some killer songs. : )

Re: T? vids on youtube in General Therapy? Topics
Private Nobody : I believe you’re forgiven, that legendary version is so much better than the album recording.. so explosive and charismatic. Pity it segues into Stop It and then stops though.. wouldn’t mind seeing that one again either. ; )

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
effect wrote:
I think the concept of the show is that simple. Shade I’m interested to know why you don’t think I’m being too critical.
It is? The’re many reasons for participating. One doesn’t necessarily have to put priority on playing what the crowd wants to hear, and maybe, just maybe the judges aren’t looking for a good popband but some new artistic expression. It’s always going to be subjective, yes.. but such is the fate of all art. Doesn’t mean youngsters who get offered chances for an art gallery exposition (like, the 10 best in class) are sellouts. The only thing this show differentiates from having a gig, in this aspect, is that it’s more of a game with an entertainment emphasis. If a band can ignore the game aspect (and, say, just play what they want) it shouldn’t even be that different for them.
As for why you aren’t too critical, well, I think it’s okay to put questionmarks behind someone’s activities who’s music means something to you. If Andy decided to blow up a hospital it’s okay to ask too. It’s just that in this case I don’t think what you’re pointing out damages Michael’s artistic integrity at all and what follows is, frankly, a bit crass a judgment.

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
Hmm.. the format, I don’t really feel too much either way about this. Certainly not something I would do, but I wouldn’t condemn anyone else who’d do it for that alone. Haven’t heard any of the bands participating so I can’t even say what the average music that comes out of it is like, quality wise. I detest Idols stuff when it’s pure popstar fabrication contest, especially from an entertainment standpoint - but I don’t really feel strongly about rockband competitions.
Yeah, don’t really have a lot to say about this, honestly.

Re: Am I being too critical? in General Therapy? Topics
Too critical? Don’t think so, but I think it’s possible that the quality of the critique isn’t very good. I think you’re simplifying the concept of the show and Michael’s participation in it. I’m not going to speak for him, or tell you how it is, but it might be a good idea to take a step back here and not be vehement about something you can’t possibly know everything about.
I don’t think this can at all affect anything Therapy? stands for, only an outside perception of the band.

Re: Which album hit you immediately ? in General Therapy? Topics
Troublegum was instant.
The first time I listened to it was immideatly the best listen - straight from the Knives get-go. SPYF and Babyteeth took longer, but got to the overall favorites department within a month.

Well, look at it this way, this is opportunity to shape a legend!
I’ll help it along by saying I heard it and it was superbly, amazingly terrific-awesome of all kinds - Neil did the second guitar part on kazoo and the entire thing was played at a quarter pace and WHOAW, I tell you it was simply fantastic!

Uhm, yeah, I almost forgot. It’s a pretty nice interview as far as radio shows go, nice one Grant. You two got to add an extra injury to Fred Durst’s record.. I somehow think it would not displease him, an extra reason to whine about people hating him equals enough inspiration for another 5 albums. :>

Yeah, I think we do. He also did it at this gig I attended in the HA tour. It really graces the song - that stop is an epicly dynamic part of it.

Re: shameless - underrated and ahead of it’s time? in General Therapy? Topics
For me, the dark humor in Shameless is one of it’s defining graces. It’s never too bitter, more alluring and captivating than anything. I think it’s a bit too smooth in production, but that’s not something I hold against a good record. Ahead of it’s time? Hmm, well, maybe it was released at the ‘wrong’ time, but anyway, you can’t make new fans on a massive scale without any promotion.
Favorite moment of the Shameless experience was seeing the CD case with the buns and playing it to hear the Gimme Back My Brain intro. I actually thought my volume was set too low.. that ‘YEAH!’ was quite epic.

Re: Worst track on Troublegum? in General Therapy? Topics
Screamager. Not sure if it’s overplayed or not, but, well, I find it the song that’s least interesting. Wheras Stop it.. and Knives would be my favorites.

Re: Favourite Therapy? song… in General Therapy? Topics
Quite a tough one. I’d suppose that changes a lot, but for the longest time it’s been Disgracelands.
If I’d pick my favorite from all the albums it’d be easier. Perhaps an interesting topic in itself?
Babyteeth : Dancin’ with Manson
Pleasure Death : Skinning Pit
Nurse : Disgracelands
Troublegum : Knives
Infernal Love : Jude the Obscene
Semi-Detatched : The Boy’s Asleep
SPYF : Jam Jar Jail
Shameless : This One’s For You
High Anxiety : If It Kills Me
NANE : Polar Bear
OCFA : White Noise
But.. hmm.. I’m sensing a bit of a déjà vu here. But then, I doubt the ‘favorite song’ thing hasn’t been done before.. so just imagine this is a modern repeat. : )

Re: Therapy? Q&A August 2007 in General Therapy? Topics
Okay, I’ve got a tough (and ultimately silly) one :
What would the multi-word albums be called in an alternate reality where albums could only be titled with a single word?
And if that’s too much effort to puzzle through; who’s the reigning Therapy? chess champion?

Re: how to ruin a perfectly good therapy? song in General Therapy? Topics
Takes more than refined musical professions to make a good song work. For one you’ve got to have the right intentions with a cover.. I’ve heard many so-called good artists run over a song leaving nothing inspired left.
So, your version might well be considered a success.

Re: Hopes for a new T? Album ? in General Therapy? Topics
Power to you Kossu. What people should realize though is that one man’s ‘poor’ production is another man’s good one. Maybe it’s just a spin to roll the album out like it did? Doesn’t work for everyone, but then that’s also T?’s theme, with the possible exception of their punk poprock heydey. Enjoy your bearbeer. :>
For the next album I have no specific hopes other than that the band themselves enjoy it and found new ways to reinvent themselves. And trippy lyrics maybe? A good cover that makes me get immersed into an exploratory stare? Liner notes with free LSD stamps?

Re: Rank Therapy? albums from best to worst in General Therapy? Topics
Fair enough, better than those regular polls. :)
SPYF : 10
Babyteeth : 9
NANE : 8
IL : 7
Nurse : 6
Troublegum: 5
OCFA : 4
Shameless : 3
SD : 2
PD : 1
HA : 0

Re: A question for the “more die hard than me” fans in General Therapy? Topics
For listening to a cogent whole, I’d definitely recommend NANE - not only does it have good songs, but it’s a good ALBUM. It has a very set atmosphere; melodic, dark and powerful.
HA and Shameless are a little more ‘all over the place’, but both are worth it if you want a couple of great songs. I personally think Shameless is a very nasty album, in a good way - if a bit too polished on the sound. HA would be worth getting if you like to see them do more mid90’s punkrock-metal songs - plus, it’s pretty cheap most places I’ve looked.
Think you’ve got more than enough input now, but thought I’d add a comment regardless.
Oh, and also, I think SPYF is the best T? album.

Re: Therapy? gig for WoMbles in General Therapy? Topics
Honestly, if the Netherlands could be settled on, why not just spam for a tour that covers the area? Then attend it all as if it was held ‘especially for the WoMbles’? I’ve seen a few shows where about 50% of the people I had already seen before on previous shows. I mean - you get a lot of enthusiastic crowds in most shows anyway. Surely that’s pretty much the aim?
Oh, and I think if people could vote setlists all the time the novelty would wear off a bit. Sure, it’s lovely ideally.. but I’d really like it if Therapy? would just play the songs the’re REALLY into playing at the moment - produces the best shows in my opinion. Only thing I ask for is a SPYF song (any would do - even Whilst I Pursue My Way Unharmed with a drumsolo by Neil).. a humble request, surely? :P
