Re: Ministry in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, was there Friday as well - good gig.

He has been playing this setlist all tour, so I had been listening to the G.B. Bashing albums in preparation.

Am glad that I finally got to see them live, but a mixed setlist would have been cooler.

Wonder if he will “really” retire the band or not.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Yeah, part of the “Maiden Heaven” Tribute right?

Look forward to checking that one out. Shame Metallica didn’t opt to cover one of the heavier Maiden songs.

Anyone know which Chilli Pepper album this guy produced?

Tell me about it ;)

Re: New album producer confirmed in General Therapy? Topics

Well,

I would rather wait and have a good album. I have a feeling that the band is trying to rediscover something that they left behind in the 90s - hopefully it will work out.

Given that producers track record, I have a feeling we could be in for some indie rock.

At least it is finally some news - was too quiet lately.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Muskeg,

You are entitled to your opinion so fair enough. Trust me, I bought the CDs back then and didn’t have much money to waste, so I tried my best to like both Load and Reload. To this day I say they are the most boring pile of crap I have ever purchased period.

I am also entitled to have my opinion, so here you go:

Load and Reload are total kack, Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
Load and Reload are total kack,
etc…

Hm, critizing a metal fan who is annoyed that a metal band is no longer playing metal? Sounds odd to me man. They joined the money train and fell flat on their faces. Now they are grovelling trying to win their old “thrash” fans back - the same people Lars dissed in a 90’s interview around the Load era.

You continue listening to you your “‘Tallica” and your “TBA”…

Are you Squall??? (if so, I missed the name change)

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

I meant “easy to top them” in the above.

Yip, before St. Anger came out Lars was doing his “return to form” spiel with the press…

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

That is how the band described it. What I have heard so far sounds like a heavier version of the “Metallica” album.

The reviews from those who attended the sneak preview kind of suggest that plenty of the songs seem to have a structure similar to “One” (plenty of riff changes etc).

I assume it will be better than St. Anger and be a happy step away from Load and Reload, but how good will it really be (the 3 albums just mentioned are total kack - not easy to top them)?

And just to be an arse surely if Megadeth mopped the flaw with metallica everytime they would be playing places like wembley… and be the biggest metal band? Sorry :D it had to be said. (No arguments please lol) I know everyone has there opinion.

I do like most megadeth but tbh I gave up after Coundown , for all I know everything after could be great.

Of course dude, but if we all went by album sales instead of music ability, I think we would be posting a different website, do you not agree ;-)

Yes, Megadeth’s very own turd was Risk.

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat

I saw them in Dublin a few years back - was a nice trip down 90’s memory lane.

Just make sure that you don’t piss off Keith Kaputo - he can be a bit of a drama queen and may storm off stage…

I remember before our gig they were playing in Stockholm and he wasn’t satisfied with the moshing in the crowd. He said something along the lines of “I hope you all drive home drunk and die!”.

Our gig was fine though - only played one song off Broken Valley (wanna be STP album) and the rest was all off the first two albums :-)

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Not shit, but not brilliant either when compared to songs like Masters of Puppets, Battery, One, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Paint it black, For whom the bell tolls… the list goes on and on.

The songs on the “Metallica” album (enough of this “Black Album” or “TBA” bullshit) were simplified, poppy versions of the songs just mentioned. It is like they forgot how to play their instruments and got lazy when it came to song writing (not just the lyrics, but the music).

New Megadeth Cheesy??? Are one of those “generation ‘Tallica fans”? Megadeth mop the floor with Metallica anyday, anytime.

With Death Magnetic I am expecting nothing special in the line of lyrics, but hope that they at least up the ante music wise.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

I AJFA because of clever riffing, interesting time signatures, Ulrich’s best drum performance and because it is their heaviest album - despite the crap recording!

Could you imagine what it would sound like with a proper recording??? Would be insane.

I am not one to bash the album “Metallica” (TBA, Black Album - whatever) - was good at the time that it came out, but it was a major simplification when compared AJFA. It got gradually worse from there. You are obviously not that much into thrash metal if you do not approve of AJFA (which is your choice, so fair enough).

Will be interesting to hear the new one - they have pretty much sold this as the best that they are capable of today, if it is a turd they should probably consider retirement.

Judging by the lyrics I have heard so far it would probably be best to pretend that you don’t understand English…

I’m going to call it now. This album will suck. Not that I want it to, but I’m tired of getting disappointed since that tragedy after and justice for all.

Every time there’s a new album about to come out, lars will say it’s a throw back to the old days, the heaviest since kill ‘em all, more challenging than master of puppets, and then the first single is something like “Aint my bitch”. This time will be no different. I’m just being realistic this time.

Also, a nice surprise this year already is that the new Testament amazingly is brutal as fuck. And I wasn’t really a testament fan back in the day, but it is awesome to hear that style of music with todays production “standards”. as far as I’m concerned thrash is not dead though some of the founders should probably die or retire. Slayer included.

Sad but true!!!! :-)

Re: New Anthrax in Other Bands & Artists

The new dude sounds like a shouter - can’t really seeing him pull off either Bush or Belladonna material.

Will check it out none the less - they are a great band live.

And yes, they are most certainly pricks for what they did to Bush.

Re: Anything new with T? in General Therapy? Topics

Yeah,

They did specify that they want to make this album count, so maybe that is why all the hush hush. Dermot is also right above, there was alot of arguments surrounding OCFA pre release on these boards, could also be reason.

I can’t wait :-)

Yeah, seems like I visit this site to chat more about other bands nowadays - can’t wait for some new Therapy? gossip, music, gigs etc. :-)

Re: Anything new with T? in General Therapy? Topics

They are being sneaky this time ;)

Has its pros and cons. The build up to OCFA was fun on the boards leading up to the release date. On the other hand though, the anticipation for what is going to come out is growing through the silence.

I can see myself just opening the page one day to see it totally revamped with the new album cover, release date etc…

Things have been very quiet of late…

I guess they are in the studio recording the new Album which is supposed to be out September or so?

Yeah, they are also coming to Dublin in October - definitely going to that.

Will be my 3rd time seeing them live - Lemmy is God!!!

Re: Strange Graham thing on Wikipedia in General Therapy? Topics

Oh my God…

She used to like Therapy? before they went bad, not really sure what she is saying after that. Something about a career move. All in all pretty childish if you ask me, but let them have there 5 minutes.

What can I say, Waterford is an exciting place…

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Rob kicks ass - hopefully he gets plenty of input when it comes to riffage on this album. Teach them old dogs some new tricks.

Could the ego of Lars Ulrich survive this???

Posted on Mon, 23 June 2008 at 15:33

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

I don’t think Rob will be allowed to have much input into song writing. Lar is a total band nazi when it comes to these things. Same rule applies for kirk.

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat

That is true,

I am just astonished at the levels this is taking on. Some Danish representitative stood up yesterday and called for Ireland to leave the EU - like what the fuck?

Do they even have the Euro? Not that it makes a difference, but if I were to take on his logic, then Denmark, the UK and any other nations opposing the common currency should also bow out.

What a douchebag.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see now whether Cowen actually has the balls to represent the Irish people in front of the EU rather than treat us like “a problem”. The German government is pushing for a second vote where we will be more or less bullied to say yes. I have a feeling that this would blow up in their faces if attempted… We Irish don’t like being bullied.

He is usually a total bully in the Dail Eireann, so I don’t see why the cat has caught his tongue now.

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

Haha,

You mean “Spider riff”!

But seriously, is it just me who notices the total decline in their musicianship and songwriting since both of those members are no longer in the fold?

I have a feeling that the new album could be a good attempt towards being heavy again, but time will tell. I have lost faith in these guys.

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat

Quick point - by “Germans and French” in the above I refer to their politicians and media - not their people!

They would have also voted “no” had they been given the chance.

Posted on Wed, 18 June 2008 at 20:11

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists

There is that,

and there is also the slight fact that they have run out of Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton ideas to call their own :-D

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat

So, when do you draw the line and deem them a “lost cause”?

I think our society just has to keep trying its best - giving up on people is always the easy option.

Anyways, as this is about the Lisbon Treaty - I can not believe that they want to carry on with this tripe despite our nation voting “no”.

I thought it was made clear before the vote that a “no” decision would mean the end of this bullshit.

This is the Europe we are supposed to want to be a part of? I like the way the likes of the French and Germans are referencing “fear tactics” by the “no” campaigners as a reason for failure. Wasn’t it them who were claiming that a “no” vote would spell the “end for Ireland in Europe”, an Ireland that “owes so much” to Europe? What a bunch of fucking wankers.

If this deception spells out Europe, then I would rather be out and poor no matter how much money the shoved up Bertie’s arsehole.

Sorry, rant over :-)
