I wouldn’t mind seeing Kraftwerk live, even though it is only four dudes behind laptops.
Groundbreaking music.

Shouldn’t they be questioning their own IT security rather than letting this dude rot in a cell?
And they are starting with “terrorism” claims as well… Poor fecker indeed.

Re: Whats the next gig you want to go to? in Chit-Chat
I saw them in Dublin a few years back - was a nice trip down 90’s memory lane.
Just make sure that you don’t piss off Keith Kaputo - he can be a bit of a drama queen and may storm off stage…
I remember before our gig they were playing in Stockholm and he wasn’t satisfied with the moshing in the crowd. He said something along the lines of “I hope you all drive home drunk and die!”.
Our gig was fine though - only played one song off Broken Valley (wanna be STP album) and the rest was all off the first two albums :-)

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
That is true,
I am just astonished at the levels this is taking on. Some Danish representitative stood up yesterday and called for Ireland to leave the EU - like what the fuck?
Do they even have the Euro? Not that it makes a difference, but if I were to take on his logic, then Denmark, the UK and any other nations opposing the common currency should also bow out.
What a douchebag.
Anyways, it will be interesting to see now whether Cowen actually has the balls to represent the Irish people in front of the EU rather than treat us like “a problem”. The German government is pushing for a second vote where we will be more or less bullied to say yes. I have a feeling that this would blow up in their faces if attempted… We Irish don’t like being bullied.
He is usually a total bully in the Dail Eireann, so I don’t see why the cat has caught his tongue now.

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
Quick point - by “Germans and French” in the above I refer to their politicians and media - not their people!
They would have also voted “no” had they been given the chance.

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
So, when do you draw the line and deem them a “lost cause”?
I think our society just has to keep trying its best - giving up on people is always the easy option.
Anyways, as this is about the Lisbon Treaty - I can not believe that they want to carry on with this tripe despite our nation voting “no”.
I thought it was made clear before the vote that a “no” decision would mean the end of this bullshit.
This is the Europe we are supposed to want to be a part of? I like the way the likes of the French and Germans are referencing “fear tactics” by the “no” campaigners as a reason for failure. Wasn’t it them who were claiming that a “no” vote would spell the “end for Ireland in Europe”, an Ireland that “owes so much” to Europe? What a bunch of fucking wankers.
If this deception spells out Europe, then I would rather be out and poor no matter how much money the shoved up Bertie’s arsehole.
Sorry, rant over :-)

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
The Dutch and the French both also said “No” initially, then were bullied into accepting a second, slightly tarted up, reworded addition. For this reason alone I find all the “shock” reactions from Europe fucking funny.
The criticism in the Irish population for simply exercising its democratic right really makes me want to join our European brothers right now - hell, why not let them make all of our decisions without us having any say any more.
Little man dressed in brown once tried to rule the same way…

Re: The Lisbon Treaty in Chit-Chat
I also voted no.
The whole thing stank and I find it funny that they are now trying to pass it without Irelands vote. I was sick and tired of listening to so called experts telling us that we had no other option than to vote yes (Hello? Democracy?), especially that French prick. Had the French people been allowed to vote properly, they would have also rejected it again (as would the Dutch). Yes, Europe has been very good to Ireland but that does not mean that we have to accept anything that they throw at us.
I did however like the crime fighting and environmental aspects of the treaty.
Just out of curiousity, did anyone understand the bloody leaflet that explained everything in “the easiest way possible”?

Leonard Cohen tomorrow…
Is a favour for the girlfriend… don’t ask.
With Damien Rice supporting I can’t imagine it being uplifting - even Kurt Cobain found Leonard Cohen mellow, and that says a lot…

If only it were aggressive hip hop…
She likes Aikon (if that is how his name is spelled) and all that kack. She is also into Eurothrash - but hey, that is so bad that it is actually sometimes funny ;-) On the upside she likes some pop rock acts that are just about bearable (e.g. The Frames)
Anyways, played her Screamager yesterday, at first she was moaning, but them humming along when the chorus came - winner!

Re: Turning the Significant Other into a T? Fan in Chit-Chat
All depends on the chick really…
Six Mile Water (SPYF) is usually a winner amongst the ladies. Most tracks on IL also usually cut it. I found that loads of girls liked Troublegum and Semi-Detached due to the feelgood / melodic factor in the songs.
If she like the Pixies she may dig the earlier stuff more as it is more Indie…
Am trying to convince my girlfriend as well - not proving easy!!! (she listens pop rock, hip hop etc… - help me…)

Anyways, let us know where you intend to go drinking beforehand.

Which tour did you see them on? I saw them on the “Far beyond driven” tour - one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I heard that it went pretty downhill with him after that (he was hittin the heroin pretty heavy).
Only annoying thing was that Phil kept going into rambling rants inbetween songs. When they played “Cowboys from Hell”, he couldn’t really remember the lyrics. He had a powerful stage presence though.

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
I am stating that the man never gets rat arsed anymore, I was just surprised.
When they were in Dublin last year, he came out with what looked like a bottle of red wine. Was sober at the beginning then kind of tanked by the end of the set. The good thing about both gigs is that he didn’t start one of his drunken rants.
All in all he is nowhere near as trashed as he was in the Pantera days (and he was still brilliant in those days).
Still one of the best frontmen out there IMHO.

I have had the same 40GB ZEN for 3 years now. Don’t know how many times I have dropped it etc. - has proven a solid device for me. Is a bit of a brick, but I am hanging on until it gives up on me :)
