Re: Who has “Crooked Timber”? in General Therapy? Topics
Just phoned the guy in the record store. I don’t know how he does it, but he always is a few days earlier than the official dates. E.g. I asked him about the new NOFX album (due 28th of april) and he said that he could get it for me around the 7th already! Don’t know how he does it, don’t care actually! Gimme the albums!

Re: Who has “Crooked Timber”? in General Therapy? Topics
Ok guys, just giving it its second spin of the day. Picked it up this morning at the local record store here in Holland. Must say i’m positively surprised by the album. It’s my again favorite band playing, but again from a different angle. Can’t say it feels like e.g. SPYF or NANE, it’s different. Mike’s bass sound is the best i heard of him so far. Good job! Neils drumming is again excellent (and audible). The emphasis is more on drum / bass grooves rather than on the guitar work, but it gives CT a nice, dark, experimental groove. Like it, although i have to get used to it. I’d give it a 7/10 now, think it will grow on me even more after a few listening / drinking sessions ;).
Andy’s voice is great, the production as well. (maybe do a remixing of OCFA with Gill? hehe) . Favorite songs so far: The head that tried to strangle itself, I told you i was ill (Guitar sound in the beginning…wow) and Somnambulist. Would be nice to see this live.
Everybody have a good weekend, and happy listening for those who got it as well.

Re: Hi there! in New Members (Introduce Yourself)
Haven’t checked this in ages…but i’ll explain: Years ago i was playing in a punkband and i met this german guy who couldn’t pronounce ‘punk’ . At one point he said to me in a think german accent: “you are a poonkrocker!” write that down in fonetical dutch and you have ‘poenkrokker’. Voila.

Re: I can’t play barre chords, please help me! in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
If you really want pain and suffering try playing some jazz chords like the ones Django Reinhardt played, and which the Stray Cats (Brian Setzer that is) use. It looks impossible, feels that way as well, but it is really great for your technique and knowledge of the guitar / chords / scales. Best practice there is…

Re: amps in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
I think i will get a tube-driven amp, probably a Marshall or so, and use that one for the rougher stuff. The old 1977 100 watt transistor amp which i already have is sufficient enough for the clean work so i’ll put an A/B switch in between. 2 amps, but probably the best of 2 worlds…
Thanks everybody for the advice!

Re: get T? back in the top 40!!! in General Therapy? Topics
Good idea to bring T? back in the top 40. Here in Holland ( and i quess everywhere) the charts are filled with a lot of ‘things’, but not with music! Electronic R’n B shite everywhere. Time for the real musicians to take over again! Time for Therapy? in the charts!

amps in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: amps
i’m thinking of getting a new amp, so i want some advice from fellow-guitarists…
I’m looking for something loud enough for on-stage, maybe a top and an speakercabinet, Marshall style, but I want a nice clean sound as well, so does anybody have a good idea?

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics
I was surprised this morning to find the new album already in record shops here in Holland so of course i bought it immediately.
Just listened to it for the first time and i must say WOW! When i first heared NANE i really had to get used to the sound of this album and it took a few sessions to appreciate it. I’ve listened to OCFA now and it appeals more to me sound and songwise than NANE. It combines the melodic stuff from High anxiety with the agression of NANE.
OCFA is an album which will grow on you the more you hear it (i think), but i’m really excited! Commence headbangin’!

No he doesn’t suck, he just didn’t fit in what Therapy stands for (now). He’s a good musician though.

Re: Graham, Neil or Fyfe? in General Therapy? Topics
I’m not a drummer but i’ve played in a few bands (guitars) and i must say that Neil is really an extraordinary drummer. But hey so is Fyfe and Graham. But, to me, Therapy with Neil is my favorite line-up. Check “Rise up”, “Sprung”… Man! He’s unbelievable!
