Re: “The Head That Tried To Strangle Itself” in General Therapy? Topics

I hope this is a step in the right direction in terms of sound (IE: backwards). Hate to say it but their recent output hasn’t been too much to shout about.
Entertainment! is one of my favourite albums of all time. Stunning record. Getting Andy Gill on board HAS to be a good thing.

Re: Verdict on Never Apologise Never Explain in General Therapy? Topics

In hindsight, OCFA pales compared to NANE. :(

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

“indie tossers”.
Proof of the arrogance and misguided views of other forms of music that much of the metal community embraces. Grow up.

Looks great. Shame we can’t hear it well on OCFA!

Re: Therapy remastered??? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Sounds good.

But unless the band do it, aren’t you spoiling the vibe they were going for in making the album. Sorta ruins the bands efforts.

That sounds like you are suggesting it is good because everyone else likes it, and consequently undermining ones opinion.

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

OCFA is pretty bad, it doesn’t stand up well on repeated listens. There, I said it.

Re: OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

So… A couple of weeks later. And, it hasn’t done that well after repeated listens. Maybe It’s because I’m listening to the mars volta and tool, OCFA just sounds so lifeless and unambitious.

OCFA what do you think? in General Therapy? Topics

Title: OCFA. What do you think?

I’m specifically looking at Divers, and anyone else who has a copy delivered early. Damn, I wish I had got it off play.com :p

Any good?

I only have a promo cd at the moment, and I will refrain from reviewing that on here again! :p

Re: Martin McCarrick in General Therapy? Topics

I agree, It is a bit horrible.

I’m annoyed with some peoples comments on here though, to say he sucks is just naive. He contributed alot to alot of Therapy?’s albums, some of which you probably love. To disregard him as someone who “sucks” is silly. I’m no musician, but he added some diversity to the band, and there’s not many rock bands that are brave enough or can accomodate a full time cellist. I’m sure he put alot of effort in to the band, which some of you don’t seem to understand.

Talking ‘bout the quality degrading thing?
Yes, pretty sure. It is saved digitally on their server, then sent digitally over IP and then converted back to analog signals on the PC. If you find a way to save to digital datastream you have found the best method conerning quality. You just can’t do better than what the source provides and that is the digital datastream. Every conversion you allow in between is inevitably a source of quality loss. If you rip the soundcard signals, you allow extra noise to be added during digital to analog conversion (the soundcard uses analog signals so the digital datastream has to be converted to analog signals). Moreover, after, actually during the rip you again need to digitize the audio: analog to digital conversion needs to be done, which always gives rise to again an extra source of noise.

WM Recorder was able to rip the digital stream from the server, provided the stream was delivered to Windows Media Player for the first digital to analog conversion (I think).

But then again, the soundcard rip ain’t that bad at all of course :).

 Wha?

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

When thousands of people are buying albums off there, then they are making a nice profit, while giving nothing to the artists.

Yes, but they don’t pay the artists a penny.
So really you are stealing bands money and funding Russian drug crime*

*May not be true.

Don’t worry, being pedantic is a good thing! :p
It points out my mistakes for next time I get involved in a debate!

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

Yes, but what I was reffering to was my expression of opinion, and if my review was to say it was fantastic, then I might have got a different response from the band!

Or am I just repeating what I said, and misunderstandoing your post? :p

Re: I just heard it in General Therapy? Topics

Don’t worry, the band said themselves that they only got annoyed by downloading the copy illegaly and then posting a BAD review.
It’s like a dictatorship round here sometimes, but if thats what keeps the band afloat!!
Your review helps the band, if anything!

Re: Kerrang April 15 in General Therapy? Topics

Kerrang! have always wrote about the band of the moment, regardless of whether they are shit or not. It’s what sells copies.

20 years ago they were doing it with bands of the moment like Metallica, and for the kids these days the band of the moment are the likes of MCR, fall out boy etc…

I’m afraid, a cover story on T? is not going to sell copies, like they would have done 10 years ago.

It was a good gig, apart from Andys vocals. RHC seemed to go great.

Re: Rain Hits Concrete - Opinions? in General Therapy? Topics

I’m not a fan of the b-sides, but fair enough, thats why they are b-sides.
Play on was dissapointing, but CCE was good from an instrumental point of view, from a lyrical and vocal perspective it was poor.
RHC, was of course, great!
