Re: Noise. in Other Bands & Artists
Some bands make noise for the sake of it, but others really know what they’re doing. With Wolf Eyes, although it’s not instant, listen to it a few more times and you can hear the new things every time. It’s amazing, but I can understand why people dislike it.

Noise. in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Noise.
One of the most exciting genre’s out there? Anyone who has heard Wolf Eyes will probably agree/ disagree (if you don’t understand it).

Um, in case anyone cares:
Paper Crown King is out some time in September, and it’s fantastic. Back to their roots. I interviewed them recently, they’re lovely guys.

Re: New WINNEBAGO DEAL album and tour… in Other Bands & Artists
Yeah. Great little festival I’ve heard. Winnebago Deal, Seafood, Hundred Reasons, Mystery Jets. Lots of good little acts. Can’t wait.

I got it about a month ago. It’s great! Not as good as Dead Gone though, imo.

Re: Thom Yorke - The Eraser… in Other Bands & Artists
Hmmm, not cheap, just very basic and it sounds like the sort of thing that was made on Cubase. It’s great though, honest! :p

Re: Muse in Other Bands & Artists
It was by the same guy who worked on the Pink Floyd covers I believe!
How are you? MBA have gone for a year :(

Re: Thom Yorke - The Eraser… in Other Bands & Artists
I like it… sounds a bit like he’s spent too much time on Cubase for me though.

Re: Folk in Other Bands & Artists
Yeah, it’s alot better than the other two. Stripped down, you really get to focus on his guitar playing. It was recorded in 4 hours.

Re: Folk in Other Bands & Artists
That’s bad… :(
I bought the ‘Cripple Crow’ LP by Devendra Banhart yesterday, it’s lovely! Acid Folk = great.
£9 on vinyl, bargain.

Re: alanis morrisette?!? in Other Bands & Artists
Awful! Female version of drab radio rock ala Creed, Nickleback.

Was it anything to do with his heavy drug use? He was quite into mushrooms I believe.

have you read the book? sounds like such a tortured soul.
Which book was that? I was in Waterstones today and had a look at a couple of Drake biogs, they were interesting. It was quite sad, he was a schizophrenic detatched from the world. There was one incident where a friend knocked on the door, no one answered, so he looked in the window to see Drake sitting in a corner staring at the wall. It’s quite sad. He only sold 5000 records while he was alive.

Elliot Smith’s lovely, but I find it difficult.

Re: Muse in Other Bands & Artists
I did. The amount of hyperbole coming out of Edith Bowman’s mouth was amazing. “Rock rebels”

It’s amazing, but quite hard to listen to considering the state he was in at the time.

Re: Folk in Other Bands & Artists
*in love*… with your music taste.
Sufjan Stevens - amazing, Illnois is great (doubt he’ll be able to cover 50 states though :p )
Seth Lakeman is interesting too, as well as Mt Eeerie and Espers. Currently enjoying Animal Collective’s folkier moments as well.

It’s very stripped down, not as strong as Radiohead, but great nonetheless.

Is Fyfe in a band now, or is he retiring from the scene?

The Mars Volta in Other Bands & Artists
Title: The Mars Volta
= one of the best bands ever.
I reckon Frances The Mute is better than ‘Deloused’ though, if you manage to become immersed in ‘Cassandra Geminni’. Fantastic stuff.
‘Scabdates’ is good too, one of the only live albums I actually like.
Fret Wankery = cool.

Re: Swans in Other Bands & Artists
I’ve had a look at it, looks cool. Nice insight into the band.
The guy in the band has had a pretty fucked up childhood, dealing drugs in Europe as a teenager… I’m sure some of these experiences have inspired some of the dark stuff they write.

Re: Swans in Other Bands & Artists
Really? I’ll steer clear then :p
About the ilness, thats pretty crazy. The album makes me feel pretty nauseous after listening to the album, some tracks really are bleak…It’s scary.
The dance track (volcano?), is it ironic? I’m not sure, I’m new to the band!
