Well not a rant, but Andy was hilarious at This Is Menace last night, if it’s a Fight Club inspired band, he must a be a wise old Kung Fu master, coming out wearing his glasses with his words in his hand, too old for all that jumping about screaming shenanigans, hes just there to do his job.
FUCKING AMAZING GIG!!!!!!!!!
i just hope the do another album cos theres so many people the should work with, like Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke, Page Hamilton from Helmet, Tommy Victor from Prong, Benji from Skindred to name but a few suggestions fro TIM 2
The gig was great, and Jaz Coleman would be one of my picks for a second album. I think Benji might have done a song had Skindred not pulled out of the show. Barney from Napalm Death is rumoured to have worked on an unreleased menace track, and one of the rumours I heard is Nick Oliveri might be up for it come the second album (perhaps the album can be titled “The Second Coming” :p

Andy Cairns@ This Is Menace live in London in Other Bands & Artists
Title: Andy Cairns@ This Is Menace live in London
Wasn’t sure how many people knew about this, but Andy Cairns will be one of many vocalists appearing at the This Is Menace live show in London Mean Fiddler, December 18th.
Andy wrote and sang the lyrics to the track “F8” on the album “No End In Sight” released earlier this year.

Apart from their online store (at http://www.psirecords.com), it should be in most good music shops, particularly the independant type of shops (which I personally think should be supported above HMV, as HMC is a commercial business, and independant stores primarily operate out of a love for music … shocking concept!)

Re: F8 in General Therapy? Topics
Well, put it this way. Amazon and Play make their money from selling mainstream pop CD’s, as well as DVD’s and videogames (and gadgets and books and so on). The This Is Menace album is bought and stocked as a loss leader beucase play and amazon can absorb the losses because of all the other stuff they sell. 50 Cent and Britney Spears are their ‘bread and butter’.
Psirecords only sell psirecords stuff (naturally). The distributor expects a return for filling up their vans and delivering stock to all over the country.
It sounds crazy but psirecords are having to compete for their own product. So although you’re paying £12.99 for the album, I like to think of it as paying £9.99 for the album, and a £3 donation to psirecords so as an independant (ie SMALL) label they can continue doing other projects that just wouldn’t happen on a major label. If the extra £3 means Andy Cairns can collaborate again with a side project, I’m all for it.
If the This Is Menace album sold millions of records, then selling at £9.99 wouldn’t be an issue just because of the volume. But I can’t see it out selling the likes of The Killers or other pop chart stuff.

Re: F8 in General Therapy? Topics
Yeah, Play undercut like Amazon lol
Obviously up to you in the end, just I know if psirecords don’t get a return, a This Is Menace 2 wont happen, or the live london show that’s planned.

Re: F8 in General Therapy? Topics
£12.99 is a good price for it, amazon pretty much sell it at cost + 10p because of the volume they’re able to ship, and the fact that they sell everything.
Because of that they undercut independant labels (who can only sell what’s available in their catalogue) with releases like this, because they can make all their money from the pop mainstream stuff they sell.
I’d rather pay £12.99 to an independant label and keep them afloat, then £9.99 to amazon and never hear another album produced by the label.

Re: T? in kerrang in General Therapy? Topics
Also Kerrang does seem to focus largely on the American scene, especially their channel. It’s almost every month they have an American Rock theme. As a result British bands that could have done with the exposure get left out.
But good publicity is welcome all the same.

http://www.psirecords.com ship to everywhere in the world, plus you know the money gets invested back into the label for future projects, and not profiteering websites like 101cd

Yeah, was a great gig, I had to go out after Die Laughing, to do flyer duties, but yeah the bass sounded tight, and the drumming was immense, was all really good.

Topic : Menacing Video
This Is Menace, the off-kilter consortium noise project hosted by Pitchshifter rhythm section Mark Clayden (Bass) and Jason Bowld (Drums) have a video!
We are happy to quell the rumours of the project’s very existence with a short clip of the upcoming video for the song ‘Dead Man’. This Is Menace’s album is slated for an April 25th release on none other than PSI Records - the label run by Pitchshifter’s very own J.S. Clayden.
This Is Menace is alleged to feature guests from as far a field as Funeral For A Friend to Carcass and SikTh to Therapy?

Title: Albums for 2005
Which albums are you looking forward to this year?
The one I’m most looking forward at the moment is Twin Zero’s “Monolith” album, which comes out at the end of the month in the UK.
I think Tool and Deftones are certainly worth looking into, not sure if I’d buy them, have to listen first.
