Re: Kyuss or Queens Of The Stone Age in Other Bands & Artists
Yeah,The old way to buy tickets could be fairer by queuing in the line ( “first arrived first served” ) …the bad thing is that wouldn’t be good for people who won’t be able to take a break during their worktime to go to tickets sellers.A friend of mine posted this on the QOTSA facebook page,it is what the Arctick Monkeys did to “fight” the scalpers.I don’t know if it will be the more the efficient way but for sure,it will limit the risks :
“This is a concert for fans only and the following rules are in place to ensure that tickets do not get sold on and fans do not pay a higher price for their tickets.
The lead booker will be asked to present the card used during the booking to gain entry into the venue. Failure to do so will result in the customer being turned away and no refunds will be issued. There are no exceptions to this rule.
The surname of the lead booker and the last four digits of the card used to make the booking will be printed on each ticket. The surname and card details cannot be changed once the booking has been made.
If you are booking more than one ticket your guests must arrive at the concert at the same time as you. Failure to do so will result in the guests being turned away.
All tickets will be scanned at the entry to the concert.
Tickets cannot be resold or transferred under any circumstances. If See or SJM Concerts reasonably believe this to be the case the barcode on the ticket will be invalidated, prohibiting entry to the concert.
Please note there is a ticket limit of 4 per billing address.”

Re: Kyuss or Queens Of The Stone Age in Other Bands & Artists
@Gav’ : I Read somewhere that for the S/T Album tour, they wanted to perform in smaller places for the intimate atmosphere…and I guess for the London date it would be special as it will happen for Josh’s B-day…if you combine that with the fact they’re getting more and more popular…About buying tickets online in the UK and Ireland ( you can tell me if i’m wrong or not),someone told me that people are not really “limited ” about the number of tickets they’d like to buy ( 12 by credit card ) and The Big Events agencies take advantage of this through their software by ” spying” ( buying tickets by dozen ) and then sell them twice or three time the price…Here for the French dates ( Paris and Strasbourg),it was quite easier we were limited to 4 tickets by credit card and they were on sale by 2 following “waves” the same day…you just had to be patient (and fast for sure…)…And apparently for the Brussels date, the best way to get a ticket was to queue in front of the venue when they began the sale, for what I heard

Re: Kyuss or Queens Of The Stone Age in Other Bands & Artists
What a pity Alan :(…I managed to get tix for the Paris date…guess I’m lucky cos’ it’s already Sold Out (maybe still some tickets for seats on sales on the balcony…) I’ve been attempting to get tickets for Brussels…The site of the Venue exploded !!!! ” Onze server is overbelast” they say…

At the Hellfest, from what some friends of mine, who were there, told me ,they also could have played together “Demon Cleaner” but Kiss, performing on the “main Stage” at the same moment, were about to perform “I was made for loving” and required the organisation a perfect silence around just for that song,so they didn’t…

I was “caught” by their stuff when they turned more “Rock N’Roll” with “To Ride, Shoot straight and Speak the Truth” and “Same difference” but I haven’t listened to them for times…so don’t know much about their more recent stuff…But I think I dig it again :)

Bukowski - Amazing Grace . But an Amazing French Band !!!!!!!! Described as a Stoner Rock band ( a crossing between QOTSA/Nirvana/Jeff Buckleys ) By some experts in Rock Music …Some others say it’s ,Musically ,closer To New Orleans ( Down ????) than Palm Springs Desert…

Weird felling I had. Both bands are excellent. Just whenever I first heard Kyuss I wondered : Ok it’s cool ! this band kicks my ass but i already heard that somewhere. I think Kyuss sounds very very close to Bleach of Nirvana. Anyhow Kyuss is the start of QOTSA’s inspiration. With no problem.
If we must to chose the only one of both. I definitely chose QOTSA
Interzone, enough blablablabla , you’ve got a good reason to go this festival as it is located next your town, like everyone should :

Re: Metallica in Other Bands & Artists
If you’d like to get an idea of the ambience that might be tonight, have a look on Völkerball’s Rammstein DVD ( it was filmed for a great part in these Arenas, dating from the Antiquity ) .And from French weather broadcasts,no rain tonight,so good conditions.I’ve been there once for a festival years before,it’s a very magnificent venue!!!!
Things that make me wonder is that Mastodon and Lamb of God,who were supposed to be the support acts, are off the bill by request from Metallica management because of the DVD recording etc…so they didn’t want guest Bands and now they are replaced by MOPD and Mass Hysteria…Strange…Don’t shoot on me, that’s what a Music journalist told me yesterday night after the Mastodon gig in Paris,Brillant by the way…

I agree with you,for the most,Dennis :the 80’s were the finest period of theirs…But you’re a bit severe with R&H and Achtung Baby as’ I consider,it’s just my point of view, them as attempts to take risks and challenge themselves…But yeah for the rest since…

Re: qotsa in Other Bands & Artists
Firstly,my apologies in advance,I dug this old thread up from the dust cos’ I didn’t know where to post these news from the “Ginger Elvis” band as it seems that there are some QOTSA fans around here :
There are rumours about re-issue of their first self-titled Album (remastered with some bonus such as “The Bronze” ) around March 2009 on Ipecac (Mike Patton’s Label) and they would go on tour ( a kind of “Don’t look back” one) on which they would play their First Album Entirely
About the Desert Sessions, a compilation would be also released on next March and The Volume 11&12 on Next April.

How can Josh allow that band play that ????Ah yeah too focused he is with the Arctic Monkeys, for the moment, at Rancho de la Luna

Re: Slayer’s “Unholy Alliance” Tour Down-sized in Other Bands & Artists
For the Paris Date, the 11th of November, the show will take place in smaller venue (Zénith, capacity of 6 000- 8000) than the one where, the whole thing happened (Bercy ,capacity of 16 000 at least) in 2006.The price of the Tickets remain the same, unfortunatelly…But hopefully mine was “down sized” too

Re: What’s EveryOne Listening To in Other Bands & Artists
Ah you mean the only french metal Band you are keen on is Gojira, don’t you? Well,There have been bunch of new french Metal bands appearing these years…I don’t remember all their names but I can advise you Eths ,with a kind of Tairie B on vocals, and Dagoba …About the old bands, you should give a try on Trust, but more on their earlier stuff (late 70’s / early 80’s) that’s better than they’re doing now I don’t know if it’s “Reunion/Split/ Reunion…” process that have been making them worse over the years…
About Kyo,well,no comment from me or I shall hide from Tinne :D
