Video interview Andy in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Video interview Andy

http://www.faceculture.nl/therapy/images/therapy_402.jpg

FaceCulture, http://www.faceculture.nl , caught up with singer/songwriter Andy Cairns just before their gig in the Melkweg on November 22. In the dressing room we talked about the leave of Martin McCarrick earlier that year, the new album, recording, the painful year 2002, lyrics and lots more!

Andy goes deeper into the following questions and more:

Rise Up (Make Yourself Well) - As the years ache on / You get the face you deserve
is this song about yourself? How come you were not feeling well in 2002? What did you personally and the band learn in that year? What made you decide to become a three piece again? Why did Martin leave? Do you still speak to Martin? What does he think of Never Apologise Never Explain?
Here Be Monsters - Because I’m lost, alone and afraid of the future
Are all songs on Never Apologise Never Explain written in the same mind frame? How does a Therapy? song come about? Do you start with the lyrics? What did you change in the songwriting process for Never Apologise Never Explain?
Has Therapy? been a good therapy for you the last 15 years?
Why don’t you like recording studios anymore? When did you lose the ‘us against the world’ feeling?
How come you didn’t know what you were doing during the three year recording of Semi-Detached?
How were the songs recorded for Never Apologise Never Explain? How long did the recordings take?
How would you describe Never Apologise Never Explain in one word? And the other albums?
What are your favourite Therapy? albums? What is Therapy? for you all about?
Rock You Monkeys - Fucked in the ass by a pinko snitch
Rock You Monkeys - A fully fledged bible black-belt tyrant / The F.B.I. the C.I.A / Of, fuck me, fuck me U.S.A.
Why is Rock You Monkeys a tribute to the Ramones?
This Ship is Sinking - The ship is sinking / And you did it / It took you five minutes / And I died in an instant
What is writing songs for you all about? Why do you like analysing songs and books, when you’re not fond of analysing your own work?
Where do you live? Do you still visit Belfast?
Why are you the sole lyricist?
Polar Bear - You fence me in / I’ll turn on you
Do you always try to fit the feel of the lyrics and music together?
What kept you going in the 15 years of Therapy??
What do you think of artists who use the words ‘career’ and ‘masterplan’? Why don’t you have a masterplan?
Is the music industry worse than 15 years ago? Is the quality of the songwriting declining?
Dead - Friends, who fuckin’ needs them
