Re: World Cup thread in Chit-Chat
What I did on my summer holiday
By Theo Walcott Esq aged 8 1/2
I went to a place called Germany with my Uncle Sven and some other grown up’s. It is a country in Europe where a bad man called Adolf used to live with his nazties, he does not live there anymore, Uncle Owen does live there, and the grown up’s say I cant talk about the bad man as it will make Uncle Owen cry if I do. In Germany there are lots of castles and some mountains. We are staying in a place called Baden Baden that’s a silly name, Uncle Frank has the same name as his dad, that’s silly too, his mum must get their underpants mixed up all the time.
On the aeroplane Uncle Sol sat next to me, he got me some toffee and wants to be my friend, he works at the place where I do my YTS, so does Uncle Freddy but him and Uncle Sol are not best friends anymore.
Uncle Owen met us at the airport, he talks foreign, Uncle Wayne, Uncle Steven and Uncle David also talk funny, my mum says Uncle David talks like Orville, he is a duck, Uncle Sol say’s uncle David wears dresses and knickers, and asked me if I had ever worn them. Uncle Sol got me some pop.
In Germany the grown ups are going to play football, my grandad says we beat them in the olden days before my mum was born. That is a long time ago.
While the grown up’s went to play football so I went shopping with Auntie Vicky and some other girls she bought me a big ice cream and got herself a little one but she said she was full before she had eaten any and threw it away. She bought lots of shoes and handbags and let me play with Brooklyn. She say’s she used to be in a pop band and sang me one of her songs, I think she was telling fibs.
I told Uncle Sol about my day out with Vicky and he sulked, then he bought me an even bigger ice cream with lots of hundred’s & thousands on it.
All the other grown up’s have a girlfriend except Uncle Sol so he plays with me while they go out. Uncle Sven says I must keep Uncle Sol happy, that’s why I got taken on holiday.
The grown up’s went to play Football against somebody called Sweden, Uncle Sol was crying as Uncle Freddy played for them and would not talk to him. Uncle Sol bought me lots of toffee today and some crisps. Uncle Sven is from Sweden and I heard him on the phone to their boss last night. Uncle Michael hurt his knee and had to go home to his mum for a plaster. Uncle Peter is a giant, a proper giant like you see in books, he is rubbish at football though.
Uncle Wayne had a sore toe at the start of out holiday but it got better so they let him play football. Uncle Sol got me a present but I do not like it. He says all Germans wear leather underpants and I should while we are here, they are too tight for me.
All the grown up’s started to call Uncle Wayne a potato head who stood on somebodys spuds. He got shouted at by the referee. They are all saying that we have to go home now. Uncle Sol was crying again and I had to sit on his knee to make him stop. He had his mobile phone in his pocket, I think.

Not true. I use a Squire Strat and a Std Tele through a TSL100 head and 4x12 cab. It sounds fantastic!
The beauty of the TSL range is the 3 independant channels. The clean is really nice, the crunch is as crunchy as you like and the lead has even more gain.
For extreme metal you may wish to consider a rectifier amp, but for a nice all rounder, I would recommend the TSL.

Re: Football in Chit-Chat
Well done Dexter. He took a bit of stick down here, because of a few things he said about Plymouth. But, to be honest, most of what he said was true about the Bobby Williamson shambles.
I would like to see him do well, and to see him keep a clean sheet for the 10 mins was nice. Hats off to the lad!

Anyone use a POD? in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
Title: Anyone use a POD?
I have just taken delivery of a POD XT Pro. It is an awsome piece of kit!
I got it to use the reverb, modulation efects and delay effects with my Marshall half stack live, but it looks useful in the studio too!
The Amp simulations are nice and you can hook it up to a PC to edit the sounds, which believe me, is far easier to use than the interface on the front of the machine. You can also record direct to you computer using the USB.
Anyone else use a pod, and what do you think? Have anyone created any nice effects, which can be shared?
Cheers, Keith.

Re: The Sisters of Mercy in Other Bands & Artists
It strikes me as odd that a band/person can release a handfull of singles and 3 albums over their career and there is still interest in him 14 years after the final single!
Still I love the Sisters. I saw them about 10 years ago at the Brixton Academy. Brilliant.
Fingers crossed for some new material.

I think it is the same as E tuning, but down 4 frets. Ie tune your E string to C and then tune as normal from there.
That maybe a bit misleading. Tune your E string to C then tune the rest of the guitar to that string.

I went to the Argyle v Saints game GreenThing. The penalty was, well I’m lost for words, even Mickey Evans claimed a corner. Thought the first half was shocking on our part, but we came out well in the 2nd half and were good enough for a draw, especially with Kenwyne Jones hitting the bar at the end. Didn’t get home till 1.30am, well worth it!!
Oh well hope we can beat Derby at St Marys tomorrow. I have everything crossed.
Keep the faith.
I’m glad you enjoyed the game, shame for you about the result.
I agree you were good for the draw, but the game could have gone either way.
The penalty was justified as a penalty. I have seen some pictures. Micky was held down but 2 players, and there was a handball (for which I believe the pen was awarded). Having said that, I was supprised at the decision as most of those go un-noticed. We are having the run of the ball at the moment.
We were poor as well in the first half. Well I say poor, we were actually quite good at playing dire defensive crap which you play when winning away. It was awful to watch though. Both were better in the second half and we both had some chances, more than we usually get.
Your goalie should have saved our first goal and Romain Larrieu made a complete balls up for your goal. Romain did redeem himself and won the game with his save at the end. How he tipped it onto the bar AND got up to claim the follow up I’ll never know.
A good game which helpped us out a lot. I look forward to playing you next year! The sturrock episode has started a nice little rivalry, which has to be good for atmosphere at the ground. Somthing which has been lacking receintly.
How is your physio by the way?

Cheers tgE, it’s nice and I am a bastard!
I’ve never got on with Les Pauls. The neck is too narrow for Mr Banana Hands like me. The stings also sit too high from the body, which makes it hard to palm mute the strings.
I have never played and SG, but a friend brought his Westfield SG around and played it through my map. It sounded great!

Re: Discuss different types of guitars in Chit-Chat
I own a Squire Strat and a Standard Fender Tele. I will go along with Dennis, in the main.
However, while both guitars will feedback at high volume, the Tele’s feedback is an uncontrolable squeek which is not musical at all. The Strat, on the other hand has a lovely playable feedback. It has a great way of sustaining a note and as the note fades, the feedback builds up nicely like the intro to Trigger Inside.
The Strat has a more dirty sound good for metal and high gain solo’s. The Tele has a great crunchy sound which works really well for punk, blues and clean sounding stuff.
Both are really light ane nice to play, the Tele is as set up from the shop. I have buggered around with the action and tightened down the trem to make the Strat light and stay in tune better, but it now will stay in tune whilst in its case travelling to and from practice.
The Tele doe buzz a bit which stops when you hold the strings, which is a bugger, but I understand that all the Mexican ones do this.
Oh, by the way, the sounds I get are using a Marshall TSL100 head with a 1960a cab.

Re: Out of interest: String Gauges in Musicians (Gear, Tabs & Lyrics)
I use Ernie Ball super slinky 9 guage on both my strat and tele. I use them because I use lots of bends and barre chords. I get a great tone from them by using a 100W valve Marshall head. I tried 8 guage onec but had problems keeping my strat in tune.

Exactly! Therefore: manslaughter sentence at LEAST for Mr Martin
It works both ways. Manslaughter for Tony Martin, and a prison sentance for the burglar.
Maybe the Tony Martin case is a bit of a strong one to use as an example, because both parties broke the law and were victims of the other person’s crime.
Maybe a better case to point out is the one where a burglar spooked a dog which was asleep at night. The dog bit the burglar, and the dog is now awaiting a decision on whether it will be put to sleep for biting the burglar. How is this right?

Re: I want to buy a gun. in Chit-Chat
Hello Mr Self Destruct. I’m sorry to take so long to reply, but I only catch up with this board at work.
Mr Tony Martin, maybe a bastard, I don’t know him. I also don’t know whether the burglars deserved to be shot. BUT I from the reports it seems that the burglars were scumbags who leach off the good people in the world. If you chop down the forrest of the law, don’t expect to find any trees to hide behind.
