Re: Anyone else been gipped over the signed webgig cover? in General Therapy? Topics
Any chance of receiving a non-signed cover then?
I’m rather disappointed in this limited number…
I hope some kind of compromis will be made for those of us who have bought the webgig after August 1st.

As a (former) Skunk Anansie fan I’d love to hear that one too! Don’t need the video, I’d even be happy with just a sound :).

The Flogging Molly set only lasts one hour, maybe they get shifted forwards.

Talking ‘bout the quality degrading thing?
Yes, pretty sure. It is saved digitally on their server, then sent digitally over IP and then converted back to analog signals on the PC. If you find a way to save to digital datastream you have found the best method conerning quality. You just can’t do better than what the source provides and that is the digital datastream. Every conversion you allow in between is inevitably a source of quality loss. If you rip the soundcard signals, you allow extra noise to be added during digital to analog conversion (the soundcard uses analog signals so the digital datastream has to be converted to analog signals). Moreover, after, actually during the rip you again need to digitize the audio: analog to digital conversion needs to be done, which always gives rise to again an extra source of noise.
WM Recorder was able to rip the digital stream from the server, provided the stream was delivered to Windows Media Player for the first digital to analog conversion (I think).
But then again, the soundcard rip ain’t that bad at all of course :).

What was your old method?
You can probably save the audio by just recording the output of your soundcard. Audacity can do that, if you need a program. Haven’t tried it though, so no promises.
As for copying the video, too, I haven’t a clue, unfortunately.
I used WM Recorder, and it worked fine for the first video on that site, but that opened in Windows Media Player, this one doesn’t (at least not with me).
Audacity indeed does audio ripping from the souncard, and works fine but quality is degraded :).
Another disadvantage: you may not touch the pc during recording, all your MSN sounds and other jingles also get recorded :).
If it stays on there long enough I’ll find something that will do the trick ;), but untill then I’ll use the soundcard rip :p.

Re: Interesting sessions to download in General Therapy? Topics
I’m still sharing both of the recordings on eMule…
I’m not always there, that must be the reason you can’t find it.
If I knew which of the four links that I see when looking at my shared files folder, I need to give, I’d give it to you, but I don’t…

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat
I went to see Shakra - HammerFall - Stratovarius last night at Hof ter Lo in Antwerp.
Shakra was pretty good, HammerFall was awesome but Stratovarius disappointed me a bit. The sound during their set wasn’t optimal too. I never was a Stratovarius fan and probably never will be.
But once again, HammerFall was amazingly good, they did a nice drum-solo too, not too long, just right. It included the intro of one of my favourite Maiden songs, so that was quite fun.
The crowd was immediately into the music as well.

Did you see the drumsolo of Dio?
That one was quite nice too!
I didn’t see much of Arch Enemy but when they played there stood a couple a few meters before me, both wearing a Therapy?-sweater… wonder if that were WoMbles…
I thought Dio was better than Arch Enemy though.
