You’re right, EOS did choose the XV and positions they played, although do you seriously think that BOD, captain of the Ireland team, had no say whatsoever.
As for disagreement in his tactics, I haven’t heard, seen or read anything that suggests he would disagree with them.
BOD and EOS got too close. BOD was one of EOS’ ‘untouchables’. He wasn’t going to get dropped unless he was injured, the same goes for Hayes, O’Connell, Wallace, Easterby (until the 6N), O’Gara, D’arcy, and Horgan.

I’m happy(ish) with the appointment of Kidney, my only worry as I’ve said is the possible loyalty to the Munster players, and the fact that the IRFU have replaced a conservative coach with an, err… conservative coach. (albeit a better one)

BOD hasn’t been able to play his game because he hasn’t been fit. He’s put on a load of weight, the captaincy is too much of a burden for him, he doesn’t motivate his players around him (RWC 2007 for example), he doesn’t create space you’re talking about.
In his prime, he was one of the best things we had. But so was David Humphreys. And Denis Hickie.
I can’t accept the argument that he’s giving other players the chance to shine for one simple reason.

By the way, caps are correct at the time of the game, both BOD and AT have more caps than listed above.
