Re: Bands that I hate!!! in Other Bands & Artists

I hate linkin park and the beatles, with a passion and a grudge to each breathing being that does like them.

Re: Kyuss or Queens Of The Stone Age in Other Bands & Artists

I’d pick Kyuss. especially blues for the red sun always hammers with a heavy impact on my sanity. I must ad that QOTSA ar by far the best radio-rock band these days and they have been since day one. Did anybody ever take a shot at Hermano? They’ve also got some good stuff.

Re: Worst Live Bands in Other Bands & Artists

I recall leaving two gigs because I found them boring:

Admiral Freebee and Cult of Luna

This doesn’t imply they’re the worst livebands ever but I tend to leave bad gigs much earlier and forget about it.

Boards Of Canada, Autechre, Venetian Snares, and Aphex Twin are all personal faves of mine.

damn good taste you have. I might see VSnares and Autechre this weekend on the Dour festival. I might not as well. There’s about 200 acts to check out. Some of my fave dancemusic includes: Sickboy, BongRa, Enduser, Asian Dub Foundation and if I’m horny Basement Jaxx or Buscemi

Re: Amorphis in Other Bands & Artists

I’ve heard that up in Suomi everyone is drooling over ‘hope’ it received very high marks in Terrorizer as well. I still need to be convinced though…

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists

Most recently I’ve bought:

The Black Hand - Warmonger LP

Your God Is Dead - Sweet Blasphemy MCD

Orange Goblin - Healing through fire CD + DVD

Monster Magnet - Spine Of God LP (a fucking classic and I copped the original glitterhouse release)

Dying Fetus - Killing on adrenaline Colour LP (best death metal record released between “domination” and “Thelema 6”)

No Mo Trevno - Demo 2007

Re: Amorphis in Other Bands & Artists

Hmm sounds very promising. I’m a pretty convinced Amo fan. They’re coming to Belgium in the autumn with Swallow the Sun and Insomnium. That’s one good package if there ever was one.

Re: Children of Bodom in Other Bands & Artists

hmm I have my doubts I’d love to think that hairmetal’s revival will only start wiht Chinese Democracy but maybe it started with Hatecrew Deathroll or so. It’s too slick for me so I’ll just judge their superficial looks and not their talents. deal?

Go.See.Clutch!!! in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Go.See.Clutch!!!

For the Island folk it’s too late (allthough never to lat too reminisce) but them on the mainland. Go fucking see them. I was there last night and it rocked, you have no idea. This is such a great rockband. Still drooling.

Re: Monster Magnet in Other Bands & Artists

great news. Hope the album doesn’t suck. Must say I kinda liked monolithic baby. It had a few good sing a long footstomping airguitar rockarolla’s. But classic Magnet it wasn’t. The fact that it contains two coversongs always worried me, let’s hope dave got enough time to chew on his ideas in detox so that we have a lot of originals that will stand the test of time.

well and if it sucks after all. too bad. We got Clutch, Hidden Hand, Fu Manchu that have already saved the year for yankee hard rock.

Re: Living Legends in Other Bands & Artists

black sabbath, all four of ‘em also I’d say the surviving members of The Who and Led Zep

those bands shaped the music that makes me live worth living so nominating them for living legends is the least I can do.

Yankees hit me in Other Bands & Artists

Title: Yankees hit me

with their great rock bands

Good to great new albums by
- Hidden Hand
- Clutch (seeing them within 2 weeks)
- Fu Manchu
- Middian (former Yob, everybody needs some yob)

is it a conspiracy? Or have I totally overlooked the eurock bands that can put their foot next to these? Or is it a foreboding of the anti missile shield?

Re: Drummers in Other Bands & Artists

if we’re gonna keep yacking about Fyfe, Graham and Neil then this thread should be moved to another part of this forum.

I was (forced to) listening to Virgin Suicides OST earlier this week and it struck me that the fast song(s) had pretty cool drumming, very frantic and driving. But I have no idea who that sticksman is.

I think an average drummer makes an average band worse but a good drummer makes an average band better and a good band can’t be fantastic without a fantastic drummer. Drummers are essential to rock music. A band without drummer is like pizza without cheese.

Re: Drummers in Other Bands & Artists

Brann Fucking Dailor, how come he wasn’t mentioned yet. This man seems to have four arms. Or is mastodon suddenly too hip for this forum? Let me know then.

Keith Moon the loon, the first stand out hardrock drummer ever a whacky genius behind the kit

Sami Kuoppamäki. Y’all do yourselves a favour and listen to Kingston Wall’s live album. Sami destroys, so much feeling so much power so fucking metronome tight!

Pete sandoval he invented the blastbeat and is probably the best death metal drummer

Hellhammer listen to de mysteriis dom sathanas even the drumming is eerie and threatening

Sooper Cooper of course, not just because I’m a T? fan, he is really very good and I would like to hear stuff from his former band(s) is this still out there?

Dirk verbueren Belgium’s own Dave Lombardo. Drums for pretty much every modern (death) metalband in europe I think

Brant Bjork. Maybe his drumming is not spectacular per se but he is such a great allround musician, I had to mention him. But mind you, he IS a good drummer.

Dale Crover
Mario Duplantier (Gojira)
Trym
Bill bruford
The Isor drummer
Mitch Mitchell

I don’t listen to bands with bad drummers only good or average ones

Re: Best On-Stage Banter in Other Bands & Artists

on the Mastodon DVD Brent says the wisest thing of all when he announces their song Workhorse:
“Next song is about work. Work fucking sucks.”
