Halfway down the stairs… in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Halfway down the stairs…

Is a stair where I stare
there isnt any other stair quite like it
Im not at the bottom
Im not at the top
so this is the stair where I always stop

Halfway down the stairs
isnt up and isnt down
it isnt in the nursery
it isnt in the lounge
and all sorts of funny thoughts
go racing round my head
it isnt really anywhere
its someplace else instead…

Many years ago, I attended a gig in the Ulster Hall where Andy sang that before launching into Unbeliever. This was the show that Skin (aka Debbie Dyer)showed up from Skunk Anansie to do the counter vocals on Femtex. She also did a wonderful stage dive, seems to me that since I was the only 6’5 ugly bugger at the rail she chose me to land on, but I digress.

I also had an old bootleg, of a show where he sang it, its creepy, but it was on a ‘produced’ tape. I have no real belief it was a real tape since it didnt have the smiley on it, but it was a gift so I enjoyed it, til my bleeping blank blankity blanking blankity bleep bleep bleepity blank twin deck ate it.

anyhow, where was I going with this?

Oh yeah, fast forward to a few days ago, Im messing around in Winamp setting up a playlist and just before starting the list up, I set it for random shuffle. Now Ive about 20k in songs on that drive (yes most of them are backups of purchased cds thanks!), so it takes a moment to pick what it wants to play next.

I start singing ‘halfway down the stairs’ out loud, to which my wife thought Id lost my mind. I was in IM to another Ulster escapee who works for MS in San Francisco and typed him the first few lines as I sang…

Then I hit next and play without looking… boom Unbeliever shreds its way out of the amp.

This, suffice to say was a little freaky, but it seemed winamp was in a real Therapy? kick that night. Going from unbeliever to potato junkie to voodoo doll to rock you monkies. The missus hadnt heard much therapy? but rather enjoyed them. The Room mate also decided he rather liked what I was playing and asked ot borrow the cds for a listen.

So, Therapy? has possed my playlist

Iah Iah fnagh Therapy? Ulster ryleh!

Title: The Monday night tv show in the UK (merged)

I know this is terrible naughty, but given Im an escaped ulsterman, stuck over here in ludicrously hot Phoenix Arizona…

Does anyone have a torrent for the Therapy tv show that went out on good old BBC Ulster / digital 992 on Monday?

Ive not had a chance to get to a T? gig in over 3 years and its a crying shame, help a fan out here would ye !

and if this is contravening guidelines n stuff, my folks still live there so technically the license fee is paid ;)

Best Bassline. in General Therapy? Topics

Title: Best Bassline.

Lets hear it for the belated birthday boy himself.

Everyone oohs and ahhs about Andy’s guitar work and the various drummers Therapy? have gone through (I swear to feck theyre almost as bad as Spinal Tap…). But I dont see much in the way of praise for Mr I like to pogo in dungarees’ himself.

Personally, I think the best bass work comes out in a song not a lot of people really like. ‘Loose’ has a fanfecktingtastic bassline running through it, great counterpoints that really give the song some OOOMPH.

Then theres probably -the- best song Therapy? have done (so far), no, not Screamager, no not teethgrinder, no not potato junkie, certainly not stories, not quite there with polar bear, but in fact… My Voodoo doll.

Not so funny anecdote, I originally misheard the lyric ‘waiting on the big time ’ as ‘waiting on the bass line’ which to be fair, if youve heard them blatter this track out live isnt all that inappropriate.

So, whats yer favourite bassline?

(Ps any Ballyclare High hooligans on here or what, circa early 90s?)
