Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists
I give it 6 washes or 12 years, whichever comes sooner ;)

That ‘cheerful little tune’ will probably be the one thing that starts to really really really get on your nerves! :p

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists
Dan, a washing machine is a big white square thing with a round window in the front. They cost hundreds of pounds. What you use in the West Midlands is called a bucket. If that breaks then it’s ok to get a new one, as long as you recycle the old one :)

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists
I won’t jinx it, I promise :)
Seriously if it’s a half decent machine and you treat it with a bit of respect it will probably last for years. If it’s a brand new machine then the extra warranty is probably not worth it, but if it is reconditioned then you might want to give it some thought. If it’s a Hotpoint then try and find out if it’s not too late to swap it for something else because they are absolute shit and will break down all the time.
Just don’t overfill it, ALWAYS check all your pockets and go easy on the door handle - don’t rag at it whilst it’s still locked. The most money I’ve ever spent on washing machine repairs is having to fork out for new doors because they don’t make the handles seperately :(
f it’s something serious like a new motor you would probably pick up a second hand one for about £75, but if that happens and the machine is pretty old you might want to think “fuck it” and get a new one, as when the big bits start going you are probably on a rocky road with it anyway.
I love my current washing machine and I’ve had it for 7 years. It did have to have a new door, but it was still under warranty at the time.

Mind over matter, no doubt. His so-called ‘friend’ banging on about it for years probably caused it in the first place ;)
Re the washing machine - if you do fork out for all the extra warranty the bloody thing will never break down, and will run forever with no actual faults but a string of irritating insoluble idiosyncracies…

Re: I just bought… in Other Bands & Artists
hmmm - well done on the transaction and delivery thing. However, my psychic powers (and years of experience) tell me that without a 5 year warranty, your washing machine will break down exactly 366 days from the date of purchase.

In my experience washing machines can be one of the most exciting purchases you will ever make. I hope you got a 5 year warranty?
