Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics
I started listening to ABCOL on Rhapsody in the early morning hours of 6 Feb. (with the exception of “Walking in the Shadow…” which I played incessantly since it was released) I have to sign on with the “it’s a grower” crowd. I honestly didn’t like most of the songs at first listen. Thought they sounded discordant. But like a lot of folks here have written, some of the riffs have grown on me after a few listens.
I ordered the cd from Global on 31 Jan and it showed up in my mailbox on 6 Feb. I live in the middle of the US - so I was impressed at the fast shipping by Global (Good job, Global!) but unfortunately, I was out of town when it showed up, so I didn’t see the cd until this evening.
After reading the lyrics with the tunes stuck in my head, I have a whole new respect for this release and appreciate Andy’s writing more than ever (and already had a considerable respect for Andy’s writing ability).
I don’t know that this will ever be one of my favorite T? releases. So far, my favorites are LITSOATT, Get your dead hand off my shoulder, Before you…, Ghost Trio and Ecclesiastes (GREAT SONG!).
And finally, the first time I heard “Tightrope Walker”, I thought some drunken 15 year olds got loose in the studio. Absolutely hated it. It’s now one of my favorite T? songs. So, I think there is a huge “grow” factor here.
Happy listening fellow T? fans,
Tom

Re: Lyrics Question in General Therapy? Topics
Just read that Steve Jobs’ last words were “oh wow, oh wow, oh wow”. I wonder what all of these people were seeing as they passed on?

Re: Lyrics Question in General Therapy? Topics
Just re-listened to the song while reading the lyrics you posted Kyle - you nailed it.
I appreciate the help.

Re: We’re Here Till The End in General Therapy? Topics
I just got my copy of We’re Here Till the End yesterday in the US. HOLY DOG SHIT! This fucking rocks! I love how this band brings the audience into the concert and makes it a group experience. I just wish I would ever have a chance to be in the audience since they don’t play here anymore.
The music and engineering is great. Best live album I have heard in years! I don’t think I have ever been this happy in my whole life. Ever.

I ordered mine from Amazon.com in the US. They said the release date isn’t until 19 November here. Glad to hear everyone giving great reviews.

Re: T? vids on youtube in General Therapy? Topics
Weird… I just stumbled upon a bunch of webgig songs on You Tube and have listened to some of the “B side” music like Suing God. Then I hear the B sides from Crooked Timber (Low Winter Sun and Don’t Try) and have to ask myself, why are these B side songs? They sound great! Clean them up a bit!

Re: Crooked Timber (Deluxe Gold)? in General Therapy? Topics
Living in the US, not much chance I’ll see the Deluxe Gold anytime soon. Anyone know where I can find the lyrics to “Don’t Try” and “Low Winter Sun”?

Re: Who has “Crooked Timber”? in General Therapy? Topics
Howdy my peeps… (that’s how we talk in the U.S.)
Any idea where I can get the lyrics to the Crooked Timber CD? I bought it off Napster, so if it’s included in the sleeve of the CD or vinyl copies, I’m out of luck, so far, anyway.
Really happy with this album! Exiles, Crooked Timber, Somnambulist, The Head…, Enjoy the Stuggle, and I Told You I was Ill are my favorites so far.
Peace, Love, Dope… (we say that here too)

Re: New album “Crooked Timber” 23 March 2009 in General Therapy? Topics
FNYANKEZ,
Thanks for the tip buddy. I just found it on Napster. I am assuming the band gets paid if they have an agreement with Napster, but this will do until I get the CD. Can’t leave any of them out of the collection.
Side question - does anyone know where I can buy a CD that has Evil Elvis on it? I know it was on the Webgig, but was in Afghanistan when it was available, so I missed out.
Love that song.
Really enjoying Crooked Timber so far. What a great band!

Kazan?,
Would LOVE to see T? on a US tour! Word of mouth only gets so far. I hope the label does some serious promotion. There is no reason at all that T? can’t kick some ass here with the right support.

Re: New album “Crooked Timber” 23 March 2009 in General Therapy? Topics
So far have only heard “The Head…” and “Enjoy the Struggle” and am more excited about T? than I have been since I first heard them.
Love the new look website too! Since I’m in the US, I’m going to order it from Amazon.uk - can’t wait to get my filthy hands on it.
I don’t think I have ever been this happy in my entire life! (this includes marriage, birth of children, grandchild, retirement from the Army and discovering Viagra…)

FNY… ,yeah - might as well be NC. I’m near Penisburg, er, Petersburg - at Fort Lee.
To quote a T? line - “the best thing about this place is that you know you’ll leave someday…”
Do you see much T? coverage where you are? I find none here. It makes me “frightened, confused and angry” as my son used to say when I asked “how do you feel?” Of course - he was just being a smart ass at my dainty, but well intentioned question. He likes T? too. I made sure of that.

Re: Anything new with T? in General Therapy? Topics
Hey TG,
Wasn’t trying to be sarcastic. Sorry if I came off that way.
I don’t post much here - so, I didn’t recognize that the growing, off topic converstation belonged elsewhere.
The “punch myself in the nuts” comment was something an old boss of mine, used to say when any of us made minor infractions that he didn’t want to punish with formal disciplinary action. So, I thought it was an appropriate respnse for the warning.
So, having issued the mea culpa, I hope I am still a member in good standing as a T? fan.
But I REALLY would like some news!
Later,
TBS

Sorry for the protocol violation. I’ll punch myself in the nuts to atone for my sin.
But I (and many others) REALLY would like a status check on the band.
Take care,

Match.com - funny.
I’m in Virgina, about 30 miles south of Richmond for about 40 more days, then I’m moving to Missouri.
Dermot, if that was directed at me, yeah. But I retire in 40 days.

Re: Anything new with T? in General Therapy? Topics
I thought “Infernal Love” got a US release, that’s when I first heard of T?, although there was little or no promotion. It was sample tape with a bunch of music from other bands like Ministry others. The song was “Misery” and I was hooked on the spot.
Steve- where are you in the US?
But yeah - when the new one comes out, I’m going to drum up as much interest as I can.

Thanks KJC and Alan,
I really hope the marketing is kicked up over here for this release. Everyone I know here who’s heard T? really likes them. Problem is, if they’re not hanging around me, they probably haven’t heard much of T?.

Hey folks,
I’m in the US and don’t get a lot of T? news other than on this site. Any word on when we can expect the new CD? Any working title? Are they doing ok?
Appreciate any info.

Re: News request please in General Therapy? Topics
well shit…
This is my favorite band, I’ll do what I can here. Can’t promise much as I currently live in the south, where this kind of music isn’t the norm. Absolutly astounded they don’t have a bigger fan base here in the US. Loud, (often times) angry, smart music should go over better here.

Thanks TG and Buffalo-Boy.
Yeah, they are pretty straigtforward, just that first line I couldn’t get. ..”walk it like I talk it” eluded me.
I thought maybe my American dialect was keeping me from understanding something there.
Appreciate the assist.

There is a “bonus” song at the end of Rust - does anyone know what it is called and where I can find the lyrics?

Although the song Me Vs. You, in it’s entirity might not be appropriate, the line “let the grass grow over me” repeated again and again kind of fits for me.
