Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
Oi!! No spoilers!! :)
1-6 are all classic. 1-3 has better dialogue and 4-6 have better storylines.

Re: A Brief CracK Of Light in General Therapy? Topics
Yeah, TG has been done… No need to do another. Personally, i think the best thing about T?, is the fact that each and every album sounds completely different. Ok, there is the whole thing of IL alienating the fans that loved TG, (and it seemed to take forever to recover from that) but pushing into new areas and exploring new sounds is probably more exciting for the guys than just being an AC/DC, where every album has the same kinda sound. (I’m NOT having a go at AC/DC BTW) If they did do that, I think it would have bored the life out of them and they’d have chucked it a long time ago. Plus (from a selfish point of view) i like seeing T? play in smaller venues. The last thing i’d want would be to have to go to a T? gig in a massive arena or a stadium with a mad scramble for tickets!!

Yet another person saying The Buzzing is their favourite song on the album, and I just can’t get into it at all!! :(
Absolutely love the rest of the album tho!! Ecclesiastes is a great song to end with, in much the same way that The Boy’s Asleep was the perfect end to Semi Detached.

What are the chances of ABCOL charting then?
Given its reviews and T?’s 90’s past, do they stand a chance?
Yes, this is a debate of sorts but to answer my own question I think it might stand a chance.
I don’t think an album needs to sell that all many to chart in the top 40 nowadays, so it could be a perfect opportunity! It might depend how the sales are counted, for example, will the ones ordered direct from Global that we’re sent out early be included? It does seem to be getting lots of exposure in the music press, and I saw it in beside the new releases in a prominent pisition in HMV Glasgow. Plus with the Jagermeister gigs coming up, (and selling well) it could (and should!) do particularly well.

A few people have said that about it! I’ll maybe need to give it more of a chance to grow on me.

I’ve played it loads now, and I’m getting into it more and more. Favourites are still LITSOTTT, GYDHOMS and BYWYAY. Still really enjoying Marlow as well. I just can’t seem to stop myself from skipping past The Buzzing tho.

Are you hinting for a Troublegum Special Edition? :)
I don’t think the “gold” CT was a blatant rip off really. There’s some different mixes on there for the collectors to have. Some people love all that kind of stuff. They’re not a band that releases singles overly regularly either, so the collectors are probably happy enough to buy things like that when they do come out.

I don’t think I want to know what it does until I try it now.

I’d be interested in an iPhone version too.
What is it that happens with this anyway?

Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
Between series V and VI, they parked Red Dwarf near a planet while they went out in Starbug. When they came back they couldn’t find it. The nanobots had nicked it and turned it into a planetoid.

Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
Haha… I’ve got the Starbug and a Skutter toy from the dvd’s. I remember buying them as they came out and it took 4yrs to get them all because they only released 1 every 6 months. The spines of the DVDs make up the Red Dwarf logo as well. Nice wee touch. :)

Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
I think i saw on a documentary or interview, Craig said that he really didn’t like Chris to begin with and apparently the feeling was mutual. But by the time it came to Series VI they had grown up, moved on and were on friendlier terms. Although the bunk room scenes stopped for a while, there was still some big scenes with just the 2 of them. Marooned for example. That whole episode was almost a bunk room scene, albeit on Starbug.
I think they also admitted that not being ‘bestest ever pals’ probably helped develop the mutual dislike between Lister and Rimmer!
I had always just assumed that the bunk room just stopped being the main set because the show was successful and therefore they had a bigger budget to build more sets. Plus the storylines changed when Kryten became a full cast member and they were always off doing things in Starbug and other places.

Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
You won’t get it all in one box because of the rights to the show. The BBC own 1-8 and Dave done BTE. you should be able to get each individual series at a decent price, but (to echo Epitome), don’t get the “Just The Shows” DVD set.

Well worth getting! They’ve all got an extra disc with loads of extras on them as well.

They were the poshest portaloos in the world!! The people who saw both Tom Price (torchwood guy, or eejit as I called him) and the warm up man for 4 of the other shows (Ray Peacock) reckon torchwood guy was shit in comparison. Über Geeks right enough! How that guy got the right Space Corp Directive, just by being asked the number, is ridiculous!!

Agreed. It’s around 40 mins, which seems to be the average for a lot of albums these days, but it does seem very short. I had it on in work earlier, and when it finished playing i thought it’d be lunchtime, but it was still too early :(

I was dubious about that too, but they’ve managed it! Yes, they’re showing their age a bit, but it’s still Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten as we’ve always known them. Except for Cat’s hair. It’s a bit OTT if I’m honest.

So far, the only song I’m having trouble liking is The Buzzing. LITSOTTT and GYDHOMS are my favourites so far. Really pleasantly surprised by Marlow tho. My first thought was”oh no, another instrumental” but I really like it! :)

Re: Red Dwarf in Chit-Chat
On the monitors in the studio it did look a bit like that, and it’ll be in HD as well. I much preferred (and the new sets would suit) the look of the earlier series’ tho. Maybe something like the look of V or VI would be best.
