Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

You should Mr Ennis… I went in with the “This should be an ok gig, but it’s a tribute act” kinda attitude, and came out totally in awe of the whole thing.

Re: what was the last gig you went to? in Chit-Chat

The Australian Pink Floyd on Tue night. Totally blew me away!! The sound was perfect, the stage was like a mini Pink Floyd stage, complete with the circular screen and an inflateable kangaroo instead of a pig :D.

It was “The Best of The Wall” tour but they played other stuff too including Set the Controls, Keep Talking, Wish You Were Here and Money.

On Money, 2 guitars played the same part to recreate the multi layered effect from the album.

Oh, and their backing singers were HOT!! :p

Going to see the Australian Pink Floyd tonight. Just got tickets off a mate who can’t make the gig now. Really looking forward to it.

Re: Guilty Pleasures in Chit-Chat

Really struggling to think of any guilty pleasures. I guess maybe Jamiroquai and The Smiths could count.

Re: Amy Winehouse in Chit-Chat

@Dennis - Most bands/acts aren’t prima donnas like that though.

Yes, they may have their pre gig line or whatever, but they don’t turn up 10 mins before stage time and throw a strop cos their gear hasn’t arrived yet.
Oh, and most other acts at least finish the show before having a “top up” :)

Re: Amy Winehouse in Chit-Chat

I have her on my death list.

I’ve been unfortunate enough to have had to deal with a few of her gigs, and as mentioned above, she is totally minging and completely fucked up. She even refused to go onstage until she got some coke into herself, and then kept taking breaks to take more. Sad really…

Re: Incredible Fakes/Hoaxes in Chit-Chat

What about the guy in the early 80’s days of “Kung Fu” (can’t remember his name), who claimed he could turn pages of a book using just his mind. He was on TVAM and stuff showing off his “powers”, which he later revealed was just from him silently and powerfully expelling a breath of air!! :)

Thats a shame… Hope all is well, and he seems the kind of guy who’d want to come back and redo the show to make up for it…

Re: greg dulli+mark lanegan=gutter twins in Other Bands & Artists

What happened??? They played a blinder in Glasgow last week, they didn’t seem to want to stop. Even the encore lasted 6 songs.

Re: Haveyou ever met a rock star and not even realised it? in Other Bands & Artists

Oh, and i’ve just remembered. I once refused the bass player from The View entry to a shed 7 gig for being underage at Glasgow Academy. For some reason that show was licenced for over 18’s only. This was about 4 yrs ago. He stood and shouted abuse at me for about half an hour before going back to Dundee. I had another couple of Run ins with him since The View took off,(threw him and his “Wasted Little DJ” girlfriend out of the Academy at another gig and various other things) but to be fair to him, a few weeks ago he shook my hand and apologized for being an intolerable wee shit that night :D
